Gallitzin Tunnels! Norfolk Southern Overview

The Gallitzin Tunnels are a set of three adjacent tunnels through the Allegheny Mountains in Gallitzin, PA. In this video, a Norfolk Southern freight train travels west through the Allegheny Tunnel, the oldest of the three, finished in 1854 and enlarged in 1995. To its north is the Gallitzin Tunnel, opened in 1904, and taken out of service in 1995. The New Portage Tunnel, south of these two (not seen in this video) was opened in 1855 and enlarged in the early 1990s.
