    I hope that this rig works well for you on this adventure. With the Li batteries, generator and solar they should have put in a 2000 W inverter. The 1000 W won’t even power your coffee maker.

    I really like watching your videos every week but, not wanting to sound rude, I have a….. suggestion. The video this week was almost unwatchable because the music in the background was very loud. I did finish it because I wanted to see your walkthrough but it was challenging. Again… not intending to be rude or negative as I do enjoy watching. I hope you understand. Enjoy your new, although temporary, rig and your adventure to Alaska.

    my one negative is the bathroom . i would change the door. it doesn't open very far, bangs on the bed and just seems annoying. in addition, because it's in the back where the slide is, you can't get to it... i think i'd put that closet where the bathroom is, move the bed further back fridge across or leave it and put the bathroom in the space created by moving the bed.... OR, get a bifold or collapsable door that doesn't open into the living space... but i could be very happy in that RV....

So many people in the demographic looking at these RVs request outdoor TVs so it was something they wanted on the RV, but you could definitely remove it and make it anything you wanted! The bed actually folds from the bottom to the top so no lift needed and the storage under the bed actually opens up into the storage outside which has been super handy!

    Sure would be nice is a company would build a 35’ class C on a Dodge 5500 diesel with 100 gallons water and build similar to this. Then you can be out for a while and not need campgrounds to park in. Still have the bigger unit for the weight issues and if you want to tow you can…

      Grand design has overloaded the chassis with an OCCC of a little over 1,000lb That's a deal breaker for me. Shoot, our 2017 Winnebago Navion 24J has almost 1300 lb of OCCC and we have every option they made except for the 300 lb levelers which we find unnecessary in a class C. Grand designs making a huge mistake the same one that tiffin made. The OCCC must be no less the 2000 lb to be a game changer. They could do it. But GD must bring in the Winnebago class C engineers to reduce this weight. By the way GD is on by Winnebago now.

    Do you weigh more than 12,125 lbs with all your gear and all four people? Inquiring minds want to know. The weight of the coach loaded is THE MAIN ISSUE with these Sprinter van class C RVs. I am hopeful that the 4500 chassis solves the problem. We don't have to wait for GD to publish CCC on the final production coach. Are you over 12,125?

    • @JacobsenCraig
      @JacobsenCraig Před 14 dny +1

      I found a production version of this RV at La Mesa in AZ. The door sticker says 894 lbs CCC. I am so disappointed. The new 4500 chassis does nothing to fix all the overweight Sprinter class Cs on the road. I love this RV, but I will not buy something I know will be overweight on day one. So sad they missed the mark. 3500 Sprinter class C have about the same CCC. What happened to the 1,000 lbs in new capacity over a 3500? I guess Grand Design took it all.

    I see you're storing your DeWalt power tools and batteries in a compartment right next to your propane tank. If a battery catches fire -- and this has happened with DeWalt lithium-ion batteries -- and spreads to the propane tank you'll be sitting on a pretty powerful bomb (but not for long). Maybe there's a better place for those batteries.

    • @FindingOurSomeday

We always carry large one gallon bottles for our tea, coffee, and the dog’s water in addition to cases of bottled water. This would save so much space as I could use the instant hot for tea and coffee. I just want to make sure it doesn’t take 15 minutes to produce one bottle of water. We hydrate a lot. lol.

    Don't buy ANYTHING new!! RV's are built to sell, not to work for the consumer. Emphasis is on pretty, not durability. Chances are if you buy a new one, it spends more time in the shop than on the road. I suggest a well cared for, used RV!

      You are so right!!!! Have someone else get all the kinks out of it! Then you also don’t have to take the tremendous kick in teeth you get as soon as you drive it off the lot!!!! We’ve had many brand new rv’s and every one of them had issues right out of the gate. Some much worse than others!!!

    • @christinestephenson1742
      @christinestephenson1742 Před 9 dny +1

      @conniejohnson9511 Yes, Connie, we list thousands of dollars with our foray into new RV's, even after I did years worth of research. We settled on Jayco back when Jayco WAS Jayco. We bought s brand new Pinnacle in 2013 that I thought would be our forever RV. Alas it was not because the auto leveling system made by Atwood would not work, despite numerous trips to the shop in thr first two years under warranty. When the warranty was set to run out we traded it for another brand new Jayco Eagle Premier which we had better luck with but it had a Schwintek slide which malfunctioned when we were about 1500 miles from home. We had to take it to lippert in Goshen Indiana for repairs, $2400 worth. We sold it through PPL Motorhomes in Texas and took proceeds and bought a 2006 model Jayco Designer which has been very good to us

    • @conniejohnson9511
      @conniejohnson9511 Před 9 dny

      @@christinestephenson1742 my sister-in-law also bought a brand new Pinnacle in 2018 (I think). Took it to Texas. Furnace wouldn’t work. It was one thing after another. When they came back home, they brought it to the dealer and dealer “claimed” they couldn’t get parts and dealer had it from May until October. It was a nightmare. A very expensive nightmare. We bought a brand new Big Horn fifth wheel in 2013. We also planned on this being our last one. It did turn out to be that way but had lots of trouble in between. When it was brand new, took it on a long trip to Arizona and all over. Had TWO tires blow out. Ripped to shreds!! Ended up replacing all of them on that trip as we realized the ones on there were junk!!! The first thing that happened was a massive leak on the living room slide out. Water went onto actual wood top. We found it totally by accident as a friend asked to see inside so we went in while it was raining out. If we hadn’t caught it, that area would have been destroyed! My husband made a temporary fix hoping they would fix it properly. Nope!!! They said they did but when he looked when we got it home, it was exactly what he had done. Luckily it has never leaked again so I guess he did a pretty good job. The outside has delaminated EVERYWHERE so it’s really not worth a plug nickel now. I could go on an o but I’ll shut up now. 🤨😂😂😂

People are so much better off buying an older one and redoing it to modernize it a bit. We did nothing to our 2006 though, I would live to tear out the old carpet but it won't happen. We just hauled it from Texas to Wyoming and back and it worked perfectly. Spent 2 weeks in Alcova Wyoming and loved every minute. It's our last long trip though. This is a 25ft RV and we have been able to go anywhere we have wanted to in Alaska so far, which has been A LOT of places. The whole point of a trip like this was to be able to be as nimble and small as possible to get up to Alaska and to explore up here. And it has been perfect. See a bear on the side of the road? Just make a Uturn and go back to see it. Even if you have a truck and trailer that you could detach to go to the store, you wouldn't be able to do that. SO much more convenient. We have done really well timing our travels and stopping trips and if for some reason we have to go somewhere unexpected, we put the slide in and lift the Leveling jacks and off we go. Set up and take down are so easy in a rig like this. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!

    • @FindingOurSomeday
      @FindingOurSomeday  Před 23 dny

      It didn’t really get into why i recommend water based dressing. It’s because water based tire dressings are concentrates , so based on how you dilute it a quart becomes almost 2 gallons based on how you dilute it. I use a lot of tire shine since I do the wheel wells/mudflaps, and a lot of the visible undercarriage. Water based doesn’t collect dust from the road like others, turning your tires brown overtime if you don’t degrease and scrub them often. I personally don’t like shiny tires , I like a dark matte/satin finish.
