If Checo is lo loose the seat, Sainz is the best option by far. But I highly doubt Checo is going to lose the seat because he is all that Red Bull wants right know, a point finisher that doesn’t challenge Max and brings big sponsors with him.

I'm a bit worried when it comes to the car. Carlos was closest to Charles when the Ferrari wasn't as pointy, and the RB20 is probably even pointier than the new Ferrari is now.
Carlos is certainly one of the better driver on the grid, but given the pressure and curse connected to that second seat... it'd be a real shame to see someone like Sainz "wasted".

I feel redbull will have some pains when it comes to the new engine and Sainz is on precious time. Aston Martin also ticks all his boxes, a shot at the title (could work with Honda and the rumoured Aramco controlling stake plans), and stability, with a 4 year contract probably being quite likely.

Totally agree, Sainz isn't flashy but he gets the results. When the car suits he shades Charles, and the reverse is true. If you measure their wins and points after 3+ seasons together it's extremely close, they just do the job in different ways. It will be the same at RedBull with Max, who will be the quicker driver, but Carlos has a way of raising his game, a little like Lauda used to go about things. The contract will add a nice symmetry to the career of the boy who started as a RedBu junior. Forget the crap about the fathers, both drivers are grownups now.

I think this whole thing depends on what Carlos thinks he can achieve in the sport and what he'd be happy with. I don't think Carlos Sainz is the answer because Marko knew of Sainz's raw pace and tactical brilliance back in 2015 but had to let him go to prioritize Verstappen and capitalize on the growing rookie pool. It's a bitter sweet relationship I believe and considering Carlos usually takes a season or two to get used to a car's philosophy as we saw in 2022, I don't think him and Marko have the same expectations... career suicide as well considering just how pointy that car is and how no drivers outside Max and Ricciardo could synergize with it.

I think the best thing to do is wait until the end of the season to see how EVERYONE performs. Who agrees?

The problem with that is drivers will want to have an idea of there future. It’s a huge risk for them to wait that long

Ricciardo is performing JUST as expected. At least to neutral viewers like me. Maybe not to the likes as Horner. But that guy still believes in fairy tales.

Closely contested at TR he says. Hahahahahaha, no it wasn't, at all. Max had three times the amount of points that Sainz had in their rookie season. Couple that to the fact that Sainz had way more experience than Max did in open-seaters and it's quite obvious why they chose to promote Max and not Sainz. Unfinished business? Only if Sainz wants more of a beating, in which case he should definitely step into the meatgrinder that is Max+RB. Only a couple of seasons and Sainz is the next piece of damaged goods Max drives out of the team. No, Sainz would be better off going to merc, beating georgieboy there is a far more realistic ask of him. He can go play team leader there, Max has that position at RB.

Most "fans" tend to underestimate Carlos, and your example of points doesn't well the whole story. If you're interested in looking through the qualifying record of the two it's extremely close Carlos edged Max in 8 of the 19 rounds. Renault reliability was patchy accounting for much of the difference between the two. Team bosses have him on their shopping list, don't worry. He has a harder character than emo types like Pierre, Alex and Checo. Granted wins will be scarce at RedBull against Max whoever is his teammate.

@@visionproductionsnz7828 Yeah, because qualifying really is what makes you champion, you should go tell Leclerc that. Max simply beat him in TR and if he wants more of that, he should definitely try to go to RB. I wouldn´t be surprised if merc takes him, georgieboy is not a career breaker like Max is.

If Sainz wants to be the number one driver, then red bull isn't the place to go. Verstappen is their man.
It sucks ferrari is getting rid of him so they can add the insufferable whiner for a year or two.
