    When you talked about the high end products you forgot to include The Clear Cut Series! When it comes to long term value you want to collect Series One and Two, OPC Platinum, The Clear Cut Series, and The Cup. These products give you a nice array of the best cards Upper Deck makes, which include the Young Guns, HARD signed autos with sweetest patches coming from The Cup.

    I'm an old cart that's been collecting Sports cards since the 60's. I collect all sports but mostly baseball and hockey. Sitting on over 100,000 plus memorabilia. Kept them in albums and boxes. I like collecting to collect. I don't have any graded. It's been good therapy after my military days. Loved the info and a nice video:-)

Like everything else in life... it can also get out of hand, if you don't control your impulses! Just keep it simple and enjoy it. My PC only contains jersey cards and autos.
    And young guns of household names and from my favourite team.
    I keep the rest of the insert cards in a separate binder hoping to sell them down the road.
    Base cards also have a binder sorted by team. And will probably try and sell to whoever might be interested in base cards or donating them.
    But jersey cards and autos are my main goal. Mainly because I had thousands of cards when I was a kid but never had a single auto or jersey card. Shockingly

    I have been out of the loop of card collecting since the days when Lindros, LeClair, Bouche and boys where on the flyers. Man those days where awesome I had row 3 corner seats by net for the playoffs o my god it was off the hook. Lost my voice for a week and made the big TV with my best buddie 4 times the one game. Lets just say we made it a wonderful and more joyous occasion by having others bust their gut on our accord for all to revor in. YES US PHILLY FANS KNOW HOW TO LIVE IT UP ! bahahhaha. I plead the fifth 😁.Watched it back in the broad street brawlers days but I didn't collect cards back then sadly. I just grabbed a booster box of uoperdeck 2021-22 MVP. Who should i be looking for in this as up and rising stars of today. Hell even those new guys from the last decade. Like unsaid I've been out the game and market since the 90's please help me out. Thanks from a 48yr old wanting to be a kid collecting and watching sports again but only hockey as its not gone woke as im aware of seems all other sports have gone NUTS !

      My prize hockey cards don't have much value I don't think as t least years ago they didn't but they have alot of value to me. I have a Ron hextall Autographed card from the phillies. And a Ray Bourque autographed card and a 8x10 actaul autographed photo i got from him when on the bruins. I want a Wayne Gretzky from the phillies as I always wanted him we also share the same name. What would his rookie coat me and what brand had his rookie ? Opeechee?

    • @MainelyHockeyCards
      @MainelyHockeyCards  Před 2 lety +2

      Haha I love the enthusiasm and passion!! I always find it so cool that cards are a way of people being able to connect to their past or their favorite players. Even if your prized cards don't have much monetary value, their personal value is priceless. The market has also changed considerably since then, so they could definitely be worth something. 1979-80 Topps and OPC have his rookies, though there are many counterfeits out there. There are many guides to help you with that online. The OPC typically carries more value as it is Canadian and less printed than Topps, but will cost you more. I would recommend buying graded, as it is authenticated, but the lowest you'll pay is north of $700 us.

    I just started to collect. I bought 200$ of young guns at cheap prices on eBay like byram, kaliyev, cozens, mcmichael, Krebs, etc. But I just realized that some some young guns cards of still great players don’t worth that much after a few years. I wonder when it’s the good time to sell my cards when their value grow up and where is the best place to sell them. EBay? Card shop? Thank you!

    • @MainelyHockeyCards
      @MainelyHockeyCards  Před 2 lety

      Timing is everything with selling. You just need to be actively involved in observing trends and the market, as well as keeping track of the prices you paid versus what you're selling at. eBay and Facebook are probably your best places to sell online, unless you consign, and then there's always card shows. I try to avoid going to card shops to sell, because like myself, they need to profit.

    Also I have one more question I really like the baseball cards I collected back in the early and mid 90's i mainly stayed with Bowman Best and Select Certified because i absolutely loved and chased after those refractors and mirror golds they had inserted. Is there a hockey card run that i should look after for these style cards. Price per pack i would like to keep under $20 if possible. Im looking for great photos on colorful attractive cards players name need not matter but we all love the good ones right. Im just getting back in to cards and would like some direction and maybe places to make reliable purchases from people that have been proven hobby lovers and not hobby cheats. Thnx all

    • @MainelyHockeyCards
      @MainelyHockeyCards  Před 2 lety +1

      Within the pack price-point, I'd recommend OPC Platinum and Allure, which both have very shiny and glossy finishes to them, along with a plethora of colorful parallels. Both sets also tend to hold value quite nicely.
