@@Sugar-de4et You have to go directly to the intro room and post. Only then are you given permission to read the rules, chat access...etc. I think each Mod gives you access to a different thread because at first I was only allowed on the general and figure chats. Today when I logged in and all Mods have (hello-ed) me in the intro section I had access to almost everything.

It's alright to be disappointed in figures that don't meet their expected standard since they value the purchase price and quality.

No need to apologize for critiquing the design or highlighting a figure's issues. We tune in because we value your opinion and because we like your personality and presentation. You always do a great job respectfully documenting what you like and dont like about a figure.
I think I got really lucky with my Jean Bart. She did not come with any paint imperfections and the table is well seated. (EEEEKK I felt bad seeing yours had the gap) I will say my main concern is the wine glasses in the back. I had to remove two of them directly behind her altogether because they would not stay. With this said that is my only gripe. They should have just made the glasses attached the the holder but it was ambitious i guess.
Every time you talked about how the figures look good from afar all I could think of was the quote from Clueless
“She’s a full-on Monet. From far away it’s okay, but up close it’s a big old mess.”
I'm honestly disappointed and somewhat irritated by the increasing QC issues with so many companies. Especially with those like FREEing, which already have an insanely high pricepoint. I really do hope things pick back up soon.
When you just finished saying it is disappointed they didn’t deliver on the Kaguya bunny. Then you turned and reassured her she was still cute I died laughing. Mines not that bad of a gap and it almost looks like the about to touch her hands together so I was ok with it. But some of those gaps between the hands was super bad and I can definitely see why some people where mad considering the price.
For some reason looking at the bunny figure at the end, my brain wants a bunny figure where the suit, ears and shoes are painted with the like, mood ring/chromatic color changing paint that's been popular for crafty stuff recently

You got really lucky with your Chiaki it seems!
I have her, too, and I even had to have her replaced because the first one was even worse, but she still had a QC issue with the TV hanging way too low. For the first one the TV was touching Chiakis knees because it was bending so much, for the second it still hung so weirdly bended that Monami was not visible at all from the front. I managed to fix that somehow with a bit of experimentation, but it was really frustrating.
I've come to be REALLY selective with my bunny girl figures. Only because the price point, and they're basically the size standouts of the overall collection. Right now, the only bunnies I have PO'd are Lacia, Rindo (barelegged) and Black Rock Shooter. I think those will look great with the original Zero Two bunny I already have.
There are PLENTY of bunny girls of characters I like, but in the risk of being disappointed, I just opt out of ordering them, so I get where your feelings for Kaguya are coming from with the underwhelming presence in the sculpt.
Last week I got Starfire from the Bishoujo line by Kotobukiya. Now, I collect villainess and generally morally grey characters but because she was discounted to where she was at retail price I caved and bought her. She looks great and I can't complain but... because she doesn't fit I really regret getting her and she is at the very back of my shelf now.

My Jean Bart came pretty well done, no paint or fitting problems. The only problem was those damn glasses.

I collect enamel character pins and I have my own set of criteria for what I like in pins, regarding the art, details, effects and acceptable flaw rates. From a collector's perspective, it's really interesting hearing you talk about the highlights and flaws of figures, and what you tend to look for! I'm thinking about getting a couple figures hopefully sometime soon, so watching your videos is actually really helpful when it comes to sussing out what people should kind of look for in initial illustrations and samples, where to find reviews regarding figures that are already released, and what companies consistently offer the best quality.

You haven't had any luck with rotating the hands on Kaguya? Mine do actually touch pretty well. I wasn't aware of the rotating wrists until someone on Instagram posted one with hands touching. :)

This week I got my surface order for kurumi oiran version by KDcolle, she’s ok but she’s a bit wobbly and I just expected more on the details for the price so I can definitely relate to your criticisms! You’re not a negative Nelly you’re being honest and that’s what we want to hear! All my fears about that Jean figgy came true omgggg. I'm glad she still looks pretty good from a afar though, all those pieces are rough!!!
I have Jean Bart somewhere on a boat to me and am praying she makes it okay, I don't want to deal with trying to send it back to Amiami but I've heard a few people have had issues where the table has split apart. Chiaki and Kirigiri are pretty good for their time, I'm pretty sure they keep just using the same mould which is why it's gradually getting worse. I have the first rerelease of Kirigiri and the paint definitely looks less rushed from what I can see - definitely have a worse issue with trying to get her to stay in place though!
Kaguya was so disappointing for many people - especially when the hands were super far apart. I think even if a couple are touching it's worked out pretty well though!

I think we've all been disappointed by some figures, I guess it comes with the territory. For example, I have figures with weird narrow faces, poor details, and even a 1/4 bunny that arrived with paint scraped off. On the other hand, I've had no issues whatsoever with nendoroids, which is probably why I'm more drawn to them.

its really sad when you pay like a lot( like for a 1/4 ) and then they just dont meet your expectations ,1/4 scales are so expensive so i obvs want them to be like "perfect" ig ,my fav 1/4 will always be stephanie dola ,caroline yuri (one they i will have her)and the cinnamon (i think she will look perfect ,she is so cute i love her so much! so happy that i preorderd her) i just love how they look!

Kaguya was my first bunny and I didn't even notice lol, only problem with her was mine was missing the clear foot stand peg but still stands well!

When Jean Bart was up for preorder, I fell in love with her immediately and glad after waiting for year that she didn't come with all the problems a lot of people reported. Unfortunately I have yet to find a place to display her in my RV.

I got the 2017 versions of Kyoko and Chiaki but they don't seem too different from the newer releases
My Kyoko was pretty difficult to get set on the base, the hair in particular is what made it hard. With Chiaki the tv is lower than it should be and the game console was pretty loose and hard to keep in place :(
They're pretty cool regardless though tbh, the entire composition of the figure for both is really neat but I think I prefer Kyoko more even though I was more excited for Chiaki initially. I hope Kaede turns out good especially since she's so far away
I'm so sorry that your Jean Bart figure didn't turn out that well 🙁I got mine a few weeks ago and mine turned out perfect with no imperfections but looking at the MFC comments I can see that I was in the minority. I’ve bought both the Kirigiri and Chiaki figures too…but since I missed the PO period (I hadn’t started collecting figures yet and couldn’t afford it at the time) I ended up having to nab them where I could after their releases and that led to me buying the Kirigiri from Goodsmile International…so she’s been stuck in EMS jail 😭😭😭
The Chiaki though I’ve had for a while now and god…I’ve wanted her since I was like 13 so I’m very happy to have her and all but she was SUCH a pain to put together…the random ass shapes of those holes... My TV is also definitely way lower and closer than yours but it’s not as bad as it seems it’s been for others so I haven’t quite gotten the courage to whip out the hairdryer on her yet

I just received my Jean Bart and I agree with the CQ issues, they gave me about 80% of my expectation. Sad to say that I sort of expected this. Alter has the CQ that this figure needed and I was one of those fans that was willing to pay the stupid additional cost they charge for it. Nothing is worse than being deceived by prototype hype. Alter may be overhyped to many collectors but at least they give you what you paid for. I hope WING doesn’t go downhill and uses this as an example to improve their CQ in future figures

It’s not wrong to be harsh when critiquing. You’re paying a lot of money for them and you have every right to be disappointed. It’s absolutely disheartening when you receive imperfections on a product or they aren’t up to par as they advertised. And honestly I feel like us forgiving them is making the companies slack and think it’s okay to release bad quality control figures :/
I got my 1/8 Bedivere in may and he had a few noticeable messy paint jobs on the gold trim, a few not so smooth areas on his armor, and he couldn’t fully go onto his base. I mean overall I was happy, but paying $200+ (1/2 of my first ~$200 scale for my bday) for it felt like a slap, especially when I’ve seen others with near perfect quality 😭

After I got the Duke of York, and Tejina bunny figs and preordered the Tiger Taiga with Bare Leg Rindou, I agree that Kaguya's bunny is pretty low energy. I didn't pick up Kaguya despite wanting her because of the fingers not touching. lol The Tejina I have in comparison is super dynamic, and Duke of York has her hands actually sculpted through her hair. Kaguya's bunny fits her, but a bunny suit doesn't fit her, imo.
crying about the price difference between the kyoko and kaede fig, kaede is my all time favorite dangan character and she was way too expensive for me. wish she was closer to the price of kyoko

Regarding Kyoko, I was a little disappointed in this one myself. I was one of the folks who had to use a hair dryer to get her on the base, because it was not going to happen otherwise. There were also scuffs on the desk and the clear piece at the back so I definitely had quite a few quality control issues. I was really sad after how long it took to get her. Chiaki was no better, she had a big noticeable mark on her arm of a different colour that was not supposed to be there and I was a little crushed. I'm hoping to be able to cover it up somehow, but worried I'd make it worse...

My kaguya's hands are even further apart than yours... so far that it actually doesn't look like they should be together which is... sort of better in a way? In that it's not obvious that it's a flaw rather than design choice...

I couldn't quite cave on the Kirigiri after all the comments about how poor she fit together and how often she broke and I still don't know if that was the right decision because the design is so incredible and I want the other two 😭 really glad to see yours was moderately easy to put together!!

Been eyeing that new figure for 66k and it makes it sound like all your takes on the 16k to 25k levels are just "cheap figures". My world view is starting to tilt as I try and justify spending 66k on a figure.
I was gifted the Chiaki figure. I do love her but I also think she's feels somewhat dated compared to other figures now. A word of warning, you must get her behind glass. She is a nightmare to dust. Inflicting true despair. So don't buy her unless you have room in a detolf.

how do you just like, buy that much stuff? does it sit in a desk somewhere? I can't imagine all these charms and postcards and clear files being actually up and displayed, I don't really understand buying things from series you don't really care about either, it feels like purchasing for the sake of purchasing. Am I just missing something? I've done collecting before but I've never seen such excess
There are a lot of ways you can store these things and still enjoy them without being "displayed". For example, I have an album with a bunch of prints that I really liked, which I could also put clear files, post cards, etc. Charms you can hang on different things, or keep them in a an album as well, or just even pin them on a cork/pegboard. Seeing them as art more than a series that you "love" is just personal preference. I have a bunny from a series I haven't watched yet, but I loved the pose and overall vibe. It is more a sculpture more than a character, imo.
If you don't want to collect this stuff, that's fine. I don't buy charms or acrylic stands, but that doesn't mean there aren't a bunch of creative ways you can have them easily accessible, without displaying.
That said, I know people who will completely rearrange their rooms every few months, so they actually do display a lot of what they have, even though it would seem like too much to the casual person. (One displays different Lego sets, and actually takes them apart to rebuild every couple months, so in comparison, swapping out art is pretty easy. lol)
