As a Grey Knight player, I can confirm this. I have 35 painted Terminator troops that have been sitting on my shelf since the codex dropped.
They are just too pricey compared to every option in every slot they fill. Termie vs Strike, 42-22. 2 Pts gets you 4w instead of 3, double the attacks and 2 bodies so that 1 Melta/Las/Plasma shot only results in 2w and you still have another Strike. Paladins vs Purifier vs Dread/Ven Dread, 47-23-130/145. Purifiers have same situation as Strike vs Termie, though the Paladins are 1 attack more then the Purifiers so no quite double the Paladins attacks. Against the Dreads while yes its nearly 3 Paladins to 1 dread that 1 dread has MUCH better shooting abilities, -1 damage as well as Psychic powers giving it a possible 4+ invuln, along with the one Brotherhood that can buff vehicles to hit and to wound roles.
So yeah the Terminator bodies for Greyknights SUCK this edition compared to every single other option in the same slot. OH and I forgot for the 5 Pts more of a Paladin vs Termie that doesnt get you any more wounds, still 3w. So its 5 Pts for 1 attack and the ability to take a second Santic power, which none of them are really worth it or that good to want to take with Paladins.
Times like this call for losing in style 😎
@@memnarch129 It's pretty mediocre yeah. I tried recently in a match to bring no Dreadknights to see if I could win with To The Last as my secondary. I had Draigo, a Grandmaster and a Brother Captain (Both jacked up to 160 pts), and had them covered by a 3-man of Paladins. They took Armoured Resilience and Tide of Shadows for a 0+ armour save. I ended up winning by only 1 point, since my opponent took Assassinate, and could not kill a single character through the Paladin shields.
Mind you, I got nearly tabled. By the end, I had only Draigo, GM, and Bro-Cap with only a single Pally left standing.

@@shadowstep1375 it's really a problem of named characters in 40k. They are a huge points sink and can't do much that a normal squad with buffs can't. They're big fun monsters, but competently they're just not effective
I really wish they would reduce the point costs of terminators. The 2 point decrease wasn’t enough to justify us pulling them again when dreadknights and interceptors do all the work
Strike squads are pretty insane too if you use rapiers.

Still rember when my salamanders went against my freinds grey knights and he charged with a 10 man termi squad at my 10 man sterngaurd who had vulkan hestan near and I used the stratagem to give em max rolls for there flame/bolters and had vulkan to re roll wounds and I wiped em off the bored lol

I got the baby carrier in the battle box with my Infernal Master. I ended up getting that third party bit where you swap out the core with an actual knight looking thing. So much better.. It's not like I'd be playing the GK at a tournament anytime soon anyways. Heresy for the win.

They have an stupid goofy as model of a Grey Knights riding something like Ripley in the clip, it's call a Dreadknight i think.
Mech should have a heavy machine gun/ Gatling gun and the other side have rocket pods or a rail cannon.

GW loves flipping the switch to promote sales
Cause they suck compared to strike squads? Same stats, same weapon options, same everything. Only differences being 3w and the 2+/5++. And guess what you do, you pay nearly DOUBLE the points of a Strike Marine, 42 pts versus 22 pts. They are just too expensive versus Strikes to be viable. 2 pts more gets you 4w, and double the number of attacks, also 2 bodies so a single attack with 3 damage results in only 2 damage and 1 dead Strike. Now IF they where 50-60% more than a Strike, aka 33-35 Pts each, THEN they would be a viable option versus Strikes.

And blood angels players cant use assault marines as troops, whoever thought these were good ideas need their heads checking

As I have watched them play in 10th, my biggest issue is that they are way to pillow-fisted in both melee and shooting.
Id be fine if we kept all our current weapon profiles, but we need to gain a reliable damage boost, even if its to just one target per turn.
TSons can just straight up turn off armor saves on a unit... twice in a turn.

Dreadknights do kinda just go brrrrr so there’s no reason to use the admittedly really cool terminators or paladins

That looks right. The biggest discrepancy between lore and game is Grey Nights vs Cultists. Bullets from shoulder fired auto guns should do nothing more than paint the armor with lead or steel but is capable of harming the grey knights in game and in return, these dude wearing only a shirt and at most, light blessings from the Chaos gods, are capable of tanking bolter rounds and melee strikers from an Astartes when in lore, either of those things should result in tremendous amounts of gore and blood being spilled from the heretic.
I love my grey knights...I hope GW fixed them for 10th edition!

Maybe It's because I didn't play 40k when the Baby Carrier dropped (started around the end of 7th edition) but I never got the hate. I never got why people didn't like Baby Carriers, Centurians or playing against Eldar, but I did spend a long time hating on Primaris and Tau.
Maybe the nerd rage really is related to time spent in the hobby. I guess that was me being cool with the times until after almost a decade of hating on Primaris reminded me that I had now become the weird grognard still playing with my tiny old scale cadians. Lel

Played my first game of Grey Knights in 10th as they’re my third army and I can say they’re better in 10th than 9th buuuuuuttttt… you’ve gotta know the rules and be a sly bitch. Even then, they struggle

They ruined Grey Knights in 9th edition. The best way to play them is simply don't and play something else instead... that is unless you like that the 666th Chapter gets nothing from the Space Marine codex; has unreliable casts and no point in doubling down on psychic; the worst loyalist Terminators in the game from a points to offensive output to defensive stats and survivability; and a whole host of other issues like a total lack of unique mechanics like Thousand Sons' Cabal points - overpowered as fuck mechanic but that's another story. All they're good for now are basic bitch power armour marines and spamming dreadknights. Anyone at GW who thought this was a good treatment for Grey Knights needs a lengthy visit from an Inquisitor.
