      @@AlessandroChiarelliPat I agree. Aaron and Koop I contest slightly. When Johnny and Andrew bully Kimberly in episode 4, Aaron just sitting there smiling at the idea, so the edit makes it look like he was onboard with it (though we may not know, the edit prob cut some stuff out), and in Episode 3, Koop says how much he relishes making a mess in the kitchen and having some “bitch server” clean it up. I’m not saying these guys can’t have flaws, but those go further than just flaws. No professional chef should behave that way.

      Also, when Ryan moved to Blue Team, when they get challenge to cook the fushion of 2 dishes from 2 different countries, Ryan who got Japanese and French is confused at first. While Paulie being a jerk as always, Devin is nicely helping her. And Ryan's dish becomes the best of the day and lead Blue Team to victory.

      @art.of.verser Před rokem +2

      @@ultranaticproductions3103I definitely can say that the blue team of S16 were rather sketchy and toxic all around, but yeah, I questioned the true intentions of Koop and Aaron. I do agree with you about Devin as well. I also find it incredibly hard to even like Johnny and Andrew (hate them, yep, definitely, definitely hate those two lol), the latter trying to get away with fooling around with Heather knowing full well he had a fiancee back home. F'n moron. Didn't exactly help his case or Heather's. She received death threats over that fiasco. Also, I had a small suspicion that Pat would get screwed by his own teammates. But knowing about the many unwritten rules of HK, Pat (despite his cooking skills being pretty) was probably set to fail, given he was in his forties. Throughout the entire series, no HK contestant over 40 years of age has ever won the competition. Ramsay, in that regard, wants someone relatively young to run his restaurants.

    When chefs on Hell's Kitchen cook their specialisties and fail, I think it's due to overconfidence. They're so used to cooking it that they forget the basics or that it has to be to Chef Ramsey's standards. (I've seen it happen on Masterchef as well)

    • @seanswinton6242
      @seanswinton6242 Před rokem +2

      Additional, they have teammates who are really their competitors cooking it. What's the best way to sabotage an alleges teammate? Ruin what they're known for. Screwing it up during a challenge tends to be a more realistic reflection, but I do understand they must be able to have teammates execute their specialties in a brigade. A chef's personal expertise may not be what they cook professionally outside of Hell's Kitchen.

    as others have been saying, this has been a trend for a few seasons to the point i'm sure every HK fan noticed it, and i personally believe moments like these were intentional. no doubt they choose to cover as many of the chefs' specialties as possible in a season to see if they can walk the walk as much as they can talk the talk. it just feels too coincidental that almost every time these kind of chefs lost or got eliminated, or almost eliminated, it was usually their own specialty that was their downfall. when left to their own devices, theyre usually fine w/ their specialties, but, when theres a whole night DEDICATED to their specialty, i think the pressure to excel, prove themselves and lead their teams to victory breaks them and they fumble. there are ofc chefs like Salvatore that they claim to know their specialty inside and out, but theyre not up to the standards of Ramsey and the show. you gotta bring your A+++ game to the show and SHOW that you can do the specialty you so claim to know like the back of your hand, dont just tell (read as "brag")

      I believe 2 factors are at play. Many say they've cooked a dish many times, but was that casually at home in your kitchen where you control everything. A professional stove/ oven is different than most professional ones. Additionally, in a service teamwork is required because each component is cooked by someone else unless it is an individual challenge. Even if Kimmie's cooking was on point, the service overall, could have still failed. That team was toxic and cutthroat.

      Yes but Bret is an Italian cooking an Italian inspired dish, canned tomatoes aren't exactly what comes to mind when you think "fresh Italian cuisine" and Bret messed up big time by adding more salt to them instead of sugar

      But still, you can't serve canned, frozen, pre-package food to Gordon Ramsay, the world class chef. He expected everything is fresh and coming out of scratch. That's why in Kitchen Nightmares, he's always dissapointed of how the restaurant owner usually using canned, frozen or pre-package food most of the time and thinks it's normal. His standard is high.

    • @5ean5ean22

      Both of you ARE WRONG. Canned whole peeled tomatoes simply tastes better than fresh tomatoes for soups and sauces. Any Italian chef will tell you this.
      Youre basically saying always used fresh tomatoes that dont add any flavor at all so you dont hurt Ramsey's feelings. Tomatoes are the exception to the canned rule. They can be canned, they should be canned, and should be used canned. Im not saying use canned tomatoes for a salad. For sauces and soups... absolutely. World Class Chef Ramsey needs to get his head out his ass. All canned are not created equal.

    Flynn needs to make the lists of Worst Finale Brigades either on their performances or the finalist' choice:
    Season 2: Virginia is so pathetic, she chose her brigades just because she felt that they're weakest chefs while she had Keith, one of the only good chefs on that season with Heather and she promised that $1000 dollar if she won. Just showing how much pathetic she is.
    Season 3: Both of Rock and Bonnie chose their original teammates and they're the only finalists who never have gender mix on their team due to lack of switched team as Melissa is the only one who got switched only to get eliminated later. However, it backfired for both of them as Julia showed her bad attitude as she doesn't want to be in Bonnie's team as she's also got undermined by Bonnie for being Waffle House Cook many times. While in Rock's team, everyone on his team is so pathetic without him as Rock usually carrying the team. Even there's a deleted scene where Scott has to jump in to help the others and nagging them. It's a miracle Rock won the season despite his brigade is horrible.
    Season 5: Poor Paula, she has no choice but having Lacey as her last pick and Lacey once again being a whiny brat who can't shut up and makes everyone frustated one last time.
    Season 8: This is more like a karma for Russell as Vinnie and Rob are mostly tired of being his punching bag and they tried to sabotage him as much as possible.
    Season 11: Mary is so frustrated to have Dan on her team as Dan left her for smoking! She even wanted to switch Dan to Ja'Nel but she didn't do it. She becomes the first finalist to kick out her brigade in the service and man the way she kicked out Dan is so satisfying.
    Season 12: The fact Scott immediately kicked out Jessica for messing up on her station many times but Jason had kept Sandra who's also for messing up her station many times really shows who is a better leader.
    Season 13: Frank keeping making mistake on Bryant's team and Bryant becomes the last finalist who kicked out his brigade so far.
    Season 18: It takes so long for both of Ariel and Mia to choose Motto as their team member even though Motto is clearly talented guy. Also, Mia is choosing her brigade so random and trying to avoid drama especially between Scotley and Trev as she has Trev on her team. Even Paul in Season 9 took a risk for having Elise and Carrie on his team and somehow it worked. Also, her dish is mostly based on her Puerto Rican root and none of her team understand the dish.
    Season 19: Amber keeps whining to Kori of why she did not pick her over Jordan until the morning finale. Also, she's always panicking over nothing and makes Mary Lou switch station with Cody. She's also the main cause of why Mary Lou lost to Kori.
    Season 20: While Trenton being so assertive on lead his team even though most of his brigades found him annoying, Megan on the other hand is too chill. Even she got scolded by Christina to stop play nice. Also, she made a huge mistake to have Josie and Emily (a.k.a the vegan "couple") on her team which could cause a distraction between both of them.

      Mia's not choosing Motto and choosing Trev instead was a fatal mistake. Why not pick the best available first. Trev was made too many simple errors throughout the season, especially fornthis to be his 2nd time. Mia, as she did all season, made her decisions based on personal feelings, not professional facts. A good leader makes the best from a bad situation. Besides, they could have been separated by station. Kicking someone out was always an option. Leaders prepare for contingencies. Michelle to deal with Elise, her direct rival who definitely wanted to sabotage her in the finals. It wouldn't have mattered anyway, Mia's menu did her in. It was too unfamiliar to her team, so with too many unknown cuisine dishes to be mastered with little time, Mia was destined to fail. Meanwhile, Ariel did OK with Scotley. Why? No drama. Scotley made errors initially but recovered.

      I believe S8, as far as Russell's brigade is concerned, it's rather understandable Vinny and Rob were obviously over Russell and his douchey attitude by that point. I know that Russell has mad skills in the kitchen, but he only showed himself to be far too f'n big for his britches. And also, he threatened to blackball them from any culinary opportunity. Russell was beyond arrogant regardless.

      @@varisrevolver4061 Ironically it backfired for Will since Krupa messing his service many times and Will gets his first crash and burn. While Paul managed to make Elise and Carrie work together and they both finally realize it was Paul's day and they put their differences aside and lead Paul to win. Kudos for Paul to make the two individuals who don't like each other to work together.

      @@seanswinton6242 It still irks me till these days that none of Ariel and Mia thinking to pick Motto first. If I was the contestant on finale, I'll choose the strongest chef at first so my rival will feel disadvantage. But yeah, Trev has been so awful on Season 18 as he constantly making the Veteran and Male Red Team losing but still, he doesn't deserved so many bullying from Scotley, Jose and Brett the most. It would be hillarious if one of them chose Scotley and Trev on one team and see if they desroyed them or lead them on victory like Elise and Carrie on Paul's team on Season 9.

A chef messes up something that should be in their wheelhouse. Whenever a contestant claims that they’ve got a particular challenge in the bag, I often go, you’re gonna mess it up aren’t you. I never fail in that prediction.
