Bill Murray is the greatest improvisational comedic talent of all time. It's not even close. He's got to be the most naturally funny human being in history.
@@AMEER-114- I love Norm MacDonald. He's not impromptu funny like Murray is, though. Norm's humor was very crafted. It wasn't off-the-cuff funny like Bill or even David Spade. But Norm's the funniest standup of all time.
True story. My good friend was managing Lawrie's Prime Rib in Chicago. A somewhat elderly came in to the restaurant and told my friend she had car problems. My friend dropped everything and helped her out. The next day, the great Bill Murray came in and thanked him for helping his mom!
OMG this is fantastic to find!! I was at this game! My friend and I knew Bill would be filling in for Harry that day (he was recovering from a stroke) so brought a huge sign that said CUBS + BILL MURRAY = 1st HOME WIN. We made it on TV twice but didn't make this clip. I would love to get a copy of the entire game! I used to have a VHS copy that I had taped from home that day but it sadly got destroyed during hurricane Katrina. Please give me a shout if the entire game pops up!!
You know the second kid climbing that tree? That was this guy. Mom yelled your on TV, so we ran too the house and missed everything. Sweet seeing it again
You must have been the beginning of regular American young people turning returd from tv/game overload? You run inside to see yourself on Live TV? I dont see how a bunch of dolts could get any more empty upstairs. "Missed everything"? You figure if you were in front of your tv earlier watching... that you would have seen yourself outside?
"Starting for the Expos in left field Casey Candaele. He's no good....Who's this stiff that's coming up here to bat against Rick?" Bill Murray was merciless towards Candaele that entire afternoon. Wonder what Murray thought of Mitch Webster and Vance Law by the time both became Cubs by 1989.
I remember watching this game... so awesome there are parts on the internet. 👍 also... Casey Candaele... he’s no good. BEST LINE EVER! As I remember, his mom did play in the women’s league though.
Lol.....i turned this game on around on the 3rd inning or something & i didn't know Bill was doing the game. I was thinking who in the hell is filling in for Harry? LMAO....it took me a minute to realize it was Murray.
Not sure why the OP forgot to mention them. Especially Raines. He was in a contract standoff during this time. Came back in May. Those were the collusion days. Raines still had an awesome yr.
LOL. They cut off beer sales at the 8th inning. Anyone who can't get smacked by the 8th inning has a problem. It just means the beer vendors can go home early and watch the exciting innings at home with their families. LOL. Bill Murray rules.
+CutterHistorical They forgot to bring the umpire uniforms for this game and since Eric Gregg is a huge man, It was tough getting the right size clothing.
Wrigley ever not sold out? I remember watching rookie of the year when i was a kid and seeing how they portraied wrigley as if noone goes and you can sit anywhere and being a cubs fan for 10 years plus ive never not seen it not sold out

Small crowds in 1987 and no smokie links even back then but it was still OK. Not so much anymore. 40 bucks or more a for a bleacher ticket, 10 bucks for a beer 7 bucks for a hotdog 12 bucks for a cup of coffee, no thanks, I don't want to spend 300 bucks to take a date to a Cub game. Fuck the Cubs, WTF, you won't even be able to watch them on WGN anymore after this year No thanks. I'm still a fan but not so much anymore
I love this, Bill Murray is amazing!
This is a Cubs classic. I remember this game well.....

Robin Williams
Bill Burr, Dave Cappelle
NATURALLY FUNNY ?
Obviously...
None of you people ever heard of
NORM MCDONALD...
The others mentioned here are mere pretenders in comparison

How have i not ever seen this before? Its awesome! lols
I love how casual Steve called the umpire fat!!
Imagine a young Bill Murray was able to see the future and see the Cubs finally winning the World Series in 2016.
I'll bet you Bill Murray & Jim Belushi are happy men now! GO CUBS!!!
Proof that Murray is a good luck charm for the Cubs!

And Steve keeps a straight face through all this.
Well he had worked with Harry for a number of years by then, so he was a seasoned pro.
Cause dude wasn't funny, at all.
If Montreal gets another baseball team it has to be called the Expos....and those powder blue uniforms were my favorite and loved the hats.
And when the Nationals go up there, the Expos will break a MLB record for hit by pitches thrown to the opposition.
Remember seeing Bill Murry in the stands when Chicago beat Cleveland in 2016 for the WS trophy.

She’s gotta future. I don’t know if it’s in baseball, but she gotta future.

"The names on the Cubs are a lot easier to pronounce, and they seem to be more like baseball players names"
we need the whole game

I watched this game was living in Santa Barbara then where the Candaele family was from and well known. Couldn't stop laughing!
With that jacket, Gregg at the time was the world's biggest Cubs fan...
Imagine if the Cubs were hosting the defending champion Mets...anger and venom would be flying all over the place.
"He's trying to steal the nuts out of that tree!"
Stone is right there with him---holding serve!
Steve is stone cold deadpan. Amazing

4-17-87 and of course the Cubbies are still looking for their first win at Wrigley.
i like bill
"These guys from Venezuela, they always say they're from Caracas, but I betcha he's from the suburbs"
3:59 for the homers speech 'cause when you at the bar watching the sports game hence the saying the homers
I wasn't even born yet, now im shotgunning beers on an hourly basis.
5:16 Triviality spotting: Winningham is supposed to be spelled with another N.
LOL!!! GOOD JOB BILL!!!
I cracked up when Bill said that Mitch Webster was drooling on one side of the mouth that he didn't have a chance lol
Man oh man I can never get enough of Bill Murray he's just too wholesome and funny
Does anyone have this entire game?
5:01 Somehow the Expos won 91 games in 1987 with a lineup with only Galarraga and Wallach the only fearsome hitters.
Not many big names for the Expos in 1987, but there was Tim Raines and Hubie Brooks too. Not playing in that game.
Not sure why the OP forgot to mention them. Especially Raines. He was in a contract standoff during this time. Came back in May. Those were the collusion days. Raines still had an awesome yr.
Cubs win world series 2016 and all you had to see was bills reacrion and thats it for me man
25:27 Highwood! lmao!
Thank goodness the Cubs won - just to drive home the comedy routine...
David Berg is a great man... but he never made a Smoky Link.
That was Oscar Meier who made the Smokie Link.Thay were the best

what was with the home plate ump???

Nick Johnson
boy ure fast with the reply
Nick Johnson Thank you for explaining. It looks like they are wearing scrub like clothes?
Omg this was the same game when Eric Gregg had to wear Cubs gear? I remember that but didn’t realize it was the Bill Murray game.

Bill found a small refrigerator underneath the table where Harry sat and it was full of Budweiser, he acted like he was a kid on Christmas morning.
