- This vlog is the 2nd part about my experience of riding to the village of Manchi through the forests of Aiyur.
I had been on a ride following up on another adventure of kenneth anderson, this time to the village of Manchi, located deep inside the forest. This village featured in the story "Novice of Manchi" from the book "Tiger Roars" from 1967. I had to drive for around 14 kms through the forests to reach the village of Manchi and had a nice adventure along the way. The route i took was parallel to the spider valley, and i also got to see spiders due to which the valley got its name by kenneth. Join along for the experience of the drive.

One of the best vedio i have seen about andersons adventure
Thanks a lot 🙂
👍First up, a big thanks for all your time and efforts at publishing these. I've been watching so many episodes of KDSA, not sure if this is already in your playlist, if not please add, though I cannot recall the book read over six decades ago, and it goes like this...
He meets a bandit, mumpty vayan (= approximately Spade Mouther in Tamil) and instead of presenting something in his own handwriting (and doxing himself) writes with his toe a number and describes location of his (KDSA's) bungalow in Bengaluru (the Bangalore)
If you find the book, and that location, try posting some videos, if possible interviews with oldest folks around there, thanks☺
Super stuff both part 1 and 2. The panoramic view of kempekarai and spider valley was the icing on the cake. Keep it up!
Thanks 🙂🙏
Lovely coverage of the rough and tough though beautiful countryside from Aiyur to Manchi....thanks

Great work to KA forests recollected KA's thriling episodes with man eaters, cattle lifters, rogue elephants, sloth bears, lonely jackals etc. Congrats for bringing out this video
The forests are vastly different from the evergreen western ghats forests to which I am more familiar
That's good to know, thanks 🙂🙏 and yes, these forests are different, more of dry deciduous, shrub jungles ...
Amazing work! Great efforts
Thanks a lot 🙂🙏
AMAZING as usual
Thank you 🙂🙏
I am a resident of hosur. Never came across these places. Been to anchetty and denkanikotta but not to spider valley, geratti, manchi etc. Excellent work bro. Saw ur video on bandipur stay at harini cottage. Wish to go once

Appreciate your effort and courage. The arial view from the hill top was awesome, and thanks for exploring beautiful Manchi village and the places mentioned in Kenneth stories.waiting for another adventurous trip. Really beautiful vlog Sir.
Thanks a lot and happy to know when someone likes it 🙂🙏
It is beautiful. I am your fan
Thank you 🙂🙏
fantastic... as all ways. Small suggestion... if you can incorporate some old maps along with current maps that would make it more interesting i think
Thank you 🙂🙏 old maps am not sure if we will get and where we can get it....especially detailed ones of the region ....
Thank you for taking me again on this trilling adventure on bike, the natural forest and scenery is fabulous. Just wondering how adventurous it would have been to KA then when many of these areas were yet to be explored fully. Look forward to see more of your hiking adventures.
Thanks Guru for the nice comments 🙂🙏 back in those days it would have been so much more difficult to reach those places.
Sir..... 😍😍😍😍😍😍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👌nothing to say...
Thanks Sunil 🙂❤️🙏
Awesome video. Next time, could you ask the villagers/locals which wild animals still inhabit the area?
Thanks 🙏🙂 i did ask and they informed that there are leopards, bears and elephants...
Thanks a lot for bringing alive the path to Manchi and view of spider valley. I have been ardent fan of KA and have read his books and tried to spot terrain on Google earth as maps shown in the story are not so clear. Tracing footsteps of the KA story is the adventure.... Which is brought to us by your channel.. Thank you so much
Thanks for the kind words, feels good when i read such comments.🙂 Thanks for watching and encouraging 🙂🙏
Kenneth Anderson was as brave and skilled as Jim Corbett, but couldn’t get recognition, although his books bring out fearlessness and skills which was second to none!!
Waiting for part 3
There were only 2 parts from Manchi 🙂...but hopefully will bring out next vlog on another adventure.
Hey, m your new subscriber. Really appreciate the way u narrated all the story of KA. I have read almost all his books, but after seeing your video, it’s like BU and Mr Anderson, we all are going through the same trail after so long time. One small question, why didn’t you ask that villager about Kenneth Anderson Anderson?
Thank you 🙂 only if I meet someone really old can I ask about Kenneth, other mostly won't know, that's my experience.
An update to my earlier post -
Mymptyvayan - one word, his real name Selvaraj
Volume - Tiger Roars (1967)
Chapter 3, Probably Page 81, (First Edition Publisher -Allen and Unwin)
KDSA says to Mumpty:
"I’ll give you clear instructions. Memorize them. Okay?’ Mumpty nodded, and I proceeded. ‘My name is Anderson. Ask for “Anderson dorai”. Repeat the name each day to yourself so that you don’t forget it.’ He repeated my name several times. Then I proceeded. ‘I live next to the “Tamasha Bangla” (the Museum), close to the statue of the “Great White Queen!” (Queen Victoria). Remember that. When you reach Bangalore, ask the way to the statue of the “Great White Queen” and the “Tamasha Bangla” which is close to it. In between is a big red house. That’s where I live-Anderson dorai. Got it?"
Actually i had got info that his house, prospect house in Sydney road, was bought and demolished by prestige builders in 1987. Seems it was a 7 Bedroom house with attached bathroom.Huge British Bungalow.Formerly this was Sir Mark Cubbon Guest House. This Bungalow was purchased by Kennith’s in laws namely Sir John Taylor.Pioneer in Gold Mining. (Info by a friend - Mr. Vishwanath). So as of now guess there is no trace of his house.
@@Shreyas.Ranganath Thanks for your update. If you find any pictures past or present, of the landmark locations (Statue, Museum, building that once were but now replaced by something else), share them, thanks and have a Great Day!☺What is the area's current name? If you'll forgive my ignorance, Westfield?...
He had 2 houses, one on kasturbha road , that's the one brought by prestige group, another one was in Whitefield, but not sure of that details.
@@Shreyas.Ranganath Thanks again. My info is vague, but guess Sydney Road may have been renamed Kasturba? If he was referring (to Mumpty) about formerly Sydney Road landmarks, that gives a narrower area of his former bungalow☺
That's right sir, Sydney road is renamed as kasturba road. I have a photo of the house shared by a friend. Can send to your mail ID. Also in kenneths sons book - The last white hunter, there are photos of his place i guess, i am yet to read that book.
Sherpa’s do you feel frightened being alone about what May be out there in the jungle and elephants or carnivores about "….😢
Yes, sometimes I do....🙂
