- We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside during Hurricane Ian so that Matt could be closer to his work location (we booked our stay as part of our preparations before we knew his location would be closed). Praying for everyone in Florida! I have family in Ft Meyers and Bradenton, thankfully they are all safe. It’s so sad to see all of the destruction and flooding. I know people will come together all over the country to aid in clean up and rebuilding, but I expect it’s a long road ahead for many. 🙏🏻
So glad you were safe, I'm so sorry for all those that were affected so badly by the flood waters. Thoughts and prayers being sent to all, Disney seems to cope so well in the hurricanes. x

thank you, Brittany. Wow you were there during Irma! We were out of town for that one but I hear it was pretty rough. We came home to some significant damage to our apartment building after that one.

Glad you are safe. I have watched several vloggers and it is refreshing that you were giving factual information, others were leading people astray. So sad what happened here in Florida, the devastation is heart breaking. I live near Tampa and feared as originally the track was headed here.

I’m so glad you guys are ok. This storm was just so devastating! My parents used to live in the Sanibel area… just heartbreaking seeing the damage and loss there. My ❤goes out to everyone effected by this storm.

Glad you guys are safe and no damage where y’all are at. Prayers for all those in the costal areas. I’ve been through both hurricane Katrina in MS and then Harvey in TX and completely understand what you are going through. So happy y’all are safe. ❤

Wow this took me back. This is exactly the room type I was in in 2018 at Riverside. It’s so cosy, I’m glad you were there, I think it’s a very comforting hotel. We used the mini fridge for our doggy bags from each night’s dinner and would eat leftovers every morning before heading out for second breakfast like hobbits. Mickey looked like a plush toy when Matt was holding him , he’s so fluffy. I’ve never seen this hotel so packed in my life. I’m so happy you were safe, the water levels and the wind were very impressive and I’m relieved you could get back to your flat in the end. All the hugs ❤️❤️❤️
haha second breakfast! Matt and I say that all of the time to each other referring to hobbits. I love that you said that 😂 but yes, it was a comfortable resort to be at all things considered.
So glad you are safe! I've been watching from Minnesota and the destruction is absolutely heartbreaking. I'll definitely do what I can to support the people of Florida through this disaster.

Cute pup. Is that a maltese? What a cool room. Plenty of room! Not a bad idea for a hurricane. Your definitely in safe building. Love the recessed lighting. You guys are super repaired. Storm just went through charleston. downed trees and some flooding so not that bad. Glad everyone is safe! My thoughts and prayers go out to the gulf coast community especially ft myers. Cant even process that situation.
I know. Ft Myers is devastating to see. This storm has caused much destruction but I'm glad you fared well in Charleston for the most part. We know how bad flooding can be there. Yes, he's a maltese and I think he slept better than either of us during our stay haha

oh wow Jessica, I bet that was very scary! I think we would've felt less nervous had it been arriving here during the day, but it being a night just made things feel so much more uncertain.

We were at universal for our anniversary/first vacation since "the dark times." We had to cut our visit very short and left Orlando around 6 pm Tuesday after the hurricane warning was issued. Watching the news from safe in my living room in Tennessee over the last couple of days has been shocking. Glad you are safe and made the choice to stay at a Disney property for Matt.
so sorry you had to cut your vacation short but glad you were able to leave before the storm hit. It's been so sad seeing the destruction caused by this storm...and that it continues you cause as it's heading into SC/NC now 😞

A couple years ago here in Iowa we had a land hurricane known as a derecho and we were without power for a week some longer and horrible destruction it was awful. Hope all is safe
so sorry you had to go through that! I bet it was terrible. We were very fortunate not to lose power at home as many others here did.
Was thinking about you guys - glad you were safe! We are getting the storm here in NC right now. The wind has been strong and raining all day, but certainly much less severe than what you all experienced. Still going to be hard to sleep hearing the trees blowing outside 😬

Glad y'all stayed safe in those rough conditions! Looks like Disney World isn't to bad of a safe spot to go to if you have to evacuate for some reason. And little Mickey looks so cute and fluffy too! I just recently got a maltese this year and I named her Chloe 💜 I thought in another vlog you said you got another puppy... Or if not would you ever consider getting a 2nd pup? 2 dogs are a lot of fun FYI 🌟 Stay safe out their🌟🙏
aw Chloe how sweet! We'd love to get another puppy someday. We are waiting until we move into a house before making that decision 😊
I love that there is no carpet in this room, I really wish hotels would eliminate the carpeting, it’s often so gross ad holds smells.
Love the video and want some ideas for videos for my CZcams channel and want some tips on starting a vlog channel for me and Michael are going to Florida for Thanksgiving with his mom and maybe go to Disney land want to meet you guys some day

I am so sad about those in Florida. I saw someone else in the Orlando area and they had a lot of damage to their house. Mainly yard damage and roof leaking.
it's truly devastating. It'll take awhile for the city to recover, as well as all of the other areas that were affected by this hurricane.
Does Matt still work at The Grand Floridian? Was there a reason you didnt stay there (or wherever he works now?) Does Disney ever let CMs that are working in times like these stay on property when the parks are closed?
we stayed here because this is a pet friendly resort. We got the room prior to knowing whether or not Matt would be off during the storm. In the video we go over what Disney CMs receive in terms of volunteering for what they call "hurricane ride out crews" but yes, they do allow CMs to stay on property when working during a hurricane. However, we purchased this room ourselves as part of our personal preparations.
