Not to compare but in terms of the quality of the voice Adam Lambert (AL) nailed it!!!😍😍😍🤩🤩. He has his own style, unique, original and golden voice. That's why people love him so much not only his voice including his personality🤗😊. God bless.

Many people who just hear that Queen chose a young guy from a talent show are sceptical at first. How could he fill Freddies shoes!? No way! So your surprise is so typical, I can say. I love the stories about the sceptics who finally, reluctantly, go to a show, "just for Brian and Roger", standing there with crossed arms when Adam comes out, and after 3 songs they are fist-pumping and cheering for him. You should really hear him live, jaw dropping experince, the man's vocal abilities are out of this world! And that paired with his stage work, charisma, musicality and chemistry with the rest of the band makes the new Queen a match made in heaven.
Marc is a great singer too, but I don't like it that he pushes the Freddie sound too much, it will never sound natural for me. Not to mention that he is not the natural entertainer that Adam is, so he wouldn't be an ideal frontman even if Queen wanted a soundalike.

    • @Leander_
      @Leander_ Před 4 lety +10

You know apokab, Marc is a great frontman, just not in the style of Freddie or Adam. I think you and many others are too much fixed on the show. Brian has said in an interview that their shows were never scripted. (And did you like them?) Now I think they are! They use all kinds of props. Freddie never needed those! It's such a loss for spontaneity! I think, even though they call it a collaboration, to me it looks more that Brian and Roger adapted their show to Adam! And they keep on hammering Adam hasn't replaced Freddie! Really? They cannot fool me! One positive thing: playing Doing All right, even though Adam really doesn't know how to sing it well. LOL

    • @apokab6453
      @apokab6453 Před 4 lety +17

@@Leander_ The voice is very important, no doubt, without that they could not pull off a show like that. But the voice is there, clear, consistent, powerful and never boring. Beleive me, the crowd wouldn't go crazy and cheer seeing Adam with the crown on his head at the end of the show if his vocal performance didn't earn it for him. And yes, such a huge stage show limits some of the spontaneity, but there is still space for enough of it to make every show different and exciting. And of course they adapt the shows to Adam! That is what a collaboration is about! They clearly enjoy to experinece with everything that Adam's vocal and other skills make possible.
I am not sure what props you are talking about that Freddie did not need, but Queen shows have always been spectacular and grandiose, with all kinds of special effects.
Also don't know what is your problem with Adam's Doing Allright, I think he sings it beautifully.

And if freddie is still alive today i'm sure he will also adopt to the changes in technology and styles and all those stuff. Freddie is known to not stick to the thing he did before he keeps on evolving just like their songs. They don't stick to 1 genra. I think you are the one here who is too much fixed to the idea that adam sucks and no one can sing better than freddie without even watching adam perform live. I call it hypocrisy at its finest.

Apokab It's obvious to me you've never seen Queen (with Freddie) live. The first time I saw them was January 29th 1979 in Rotterdam. I remember the concert vividly. On the wikipedia page it says the Jazz tour was spectacular. I must say it was an ''okay '' show for Queen. Freddie surely hadn't developed his stage presence to the fullest. I wouldn't have called their show 'theatrical' at all. His singing with the audience was minimal. It certainly wasn't my favorite Queen concert. That is saved for April 24th 1982 in Leiden. Still not very theatrical. Freddie did play with the audience a lot !!! I remember I was "blinded by the lights!" And they were on fire that day!
The problem I have with Adam is always the same, his delivery. Listen to the middle part of ''One vision'', it sounds ridiculous.
And those special effects, I remember in 1984 the whole stage was hidden by smoke, why on earth did they think we liked that? I wanted to see John and Roger and of course Brian. They were mostly hidden in that concert.
I thought Adam called himself a guest singer, so they should adapt themselves to a guest singer? Everyone is butt hurt because of one remark of a journalist and no one thinks Adam should adapt to Queen? LOL

    • @apokab6453
      @apokab6453 Před 4 lety +13

@@Leander_ I do not understand what you want to say, was Queen not a spectacular band with Freddie (obviously not true) or the special effects they used was too much for your taste even with Freddie?
Regarding the new lineup, it can be called a collaboration, Adam can call himself a guest singer, they can keep calling it Q + AL, all that probably out of respect to Freddie, but only a blind one cannot see that Adam in fact, "unofficially", totally became part of the band by now. And of course they can and will do anything that fits them together well.
And it is your personal taste if you don't like how Adam sings the songs, what he does on stage, but thank god it is not your band to decide about it. I, together with so many other old Queen fans love it, and no question that this new Queen will always have the support they need.

May continued: "Adam lives and breathes that stuff. Adam is style, and that’s not to say he’s not content as well.
"He’s a born rock star and frontman, so it’s a very vibrant relationship we have with him.
“We treat Adam exactly the same as we treated Freddie in almost every way."
Lambert isn't just a hugely talented frontman, filling in for Freddie, he has become something much more.
He added: "He’s a born exhibitionist. He’s not Freddie, and he’s not pretending to be him, but he has a parallel set of equipment. He knows how to deal with an audience. He teases and taunts an audience quite naturally, without thinking about it. He loves to dress up.
In numerous recent interviews, May and Taylor have often talked about the band as a family. How their fractious fights and butting heads helped create musical magic and bring out the best in each other. The fact that Lambert is now included in that sentiment, is the highest possible accolade he could be given. He isn't just helping keep the Queen back catalogue alive, he is an integral part of moving it forward, a creative force in his own right.
In a major interview with guitar world, May reinforced the existing views of just how We still go out there with Adam and do it at the top level. I don’t think anybody could have predicted that, either. What’s great is, Adam doesn’t feel like a replacement at all; in his own way, he’s an innovator on stage. He’s part of our new balance. ADAM LAMBERT is only now beginning to be recognised by the greater public as the true phenomenon that he is. Gifted with a voice in a billion, for himself he is a passionate and unyielding perfectionist. Gifted to us, he is the reason that we are still alive as a functioning rock band. Why am I a troll? Because my opinion is unpopular with Glamberts? Or because I refuse to buy into “Adam is the beat singer ever” theory? LOL I respect musicianship and true talent, but am not going to regurgitate a bunch of unsubstantiated horse shit pushed by May and Taylor. If you want to hear and see who is who, put both Martel and Lambert on the same stage (same effects & equipment), provide them with the same accompaniment, and let them sing the same song.
It’s clear why May and Taylor hired Lambert and why they keep shamelessly pimping him. It’s all about creating a product, promoting that product and selling it while still appearing in charge of the brand. It is not Lambert’s voice or musical talent, since the guy is not a musician of any kind. And BTW, If they love Lambert, may they prosper. It’s their choice. However, I say it is low and unprofessional of May and Taylor to even insinuate that Martel is an impersonator (which he is not!), and that’s after they both swore publicly that his voice, and even his presence, are naturally very similar to those of Freddie. But that was before Martel started selling more tickets than Q+. He is a threat now, let’s put him down! LOL “When they go high, we go low!”
And the fact that that musician wannabe Lambert opened his mouth and called Martel an impersonator while himself is a styleless tasteless karaoke singer, is simply arrogant and insecure.
The bottom line, we shall see where Adam ends up after May and Taylor figure out they have enough money finally and retire their greedy asses. We shall also see what happens with Martel. Judging by the present situation, Martel will put May and Taylor out of business in the next couple of years, his popularity grows that fast! And all based on his talent and skill!

This is a bunch of horse shit, forgive me! Apart from the fact that both are gay males singing with May and Taylor, there are no similarities between Freddie and Adam. None!
Adam does not embody Freddie’s spirit! He is trying to copy Freddie’s behavior and wardrobe ideas. That has little to do with embodiment of a legendary artist’s soul!
Marc, on the other hand, makes no claims, yet people all over the world attest to his resemblance to Freddie in almost a spiritual kind of way.
I have seen both Marc and Adam live. I agree that you have to see an entire song to judge who is who. Better else, watch an entire concert. There is no comparison, if you are trying to compare these two. One is a fully fledged musician who is at peace with his voice as well as with Queen’s music and recreates it with reverence and skill. Another one paces around the stage dressed in glitter and is too busy trying to outsing Freddie. No wonder that leaving Martel’s concert we felt elevated, inspired and singing. Adam? Passion? For himself, perhaps! Certainly nit for the material he sings! And, excuse me, skill requires proper intonation ti begin with. That G4 at 2:29 is actually Flat! @ArtaArias Před 3 lety +5

Well, you're certainly entitled to your own opinion which I don't necessarily agree with all of them. To be quite honest you are correct about many pitch flaws here which is a technical point of view and I actually agree with most of them.
But your discrediting tone - if I'm getting it right - just does not go with your professional observation at all. I mean to discredit such a phenomenal talent, whether it be Marc or Adam, based on some flaws during such a big show and not see all the amazing things they can do in spite all of these flaws, considering all the nerves, fatigue, and movement is just plain biased in my opinion.
Furthermore, I don't know if you're saying these in general or in comparison because if it is actually in comparison, well... evidently Marc and even the legend himself, Freddie, have "MANY" of "SOME" of those flaws in their live performances and they're not anything short of fantastic in my book and I won't go Brrrr or Grrrr towards their talent and awesomeness. This actually applies to many of the artists we today call Legends! Not implying that either Adam or Marc is one yet...
At the end of the day, it is all a matter of taste. Personally, I think 'passion' and 'emotion' are two completely different elements in music. I do favor some artists over others; I actually can't like many of them, but I won't ever discredit their 'obvious and evident' abilities and talents based on my tastes. Whether I like them or not.

I agree. I wasn’t discrediting a talent, I was discrediting the notion that somehow Adam is a great skillful singer. IMO he is indisputably talented, but so are millions of other singers. His skills, however, desire for some improvement. This is not just about nerves, it’s about preparation, training and knowledge. Adam habitually takes questionable intervals, glides up to notes and goes off pitch. I think it is because he is not a musician and hasn’t been trained properly. But, then, why the charade when people say “Adam trained in opera,” for instance? No, he didn’t, or we would hear positive effects of such training. Marc is a proper honest-to-god musician: his musical skills greatly surpass Adam’s! More so, this video is about high notes, as if that was the most important merit in singing, especially in emotive singing! The video itself is lopsided and is made by someone who intentionally tries to discredit Marc and elevate Adam. A very dishonest video!

But all of you knows that NO ONE can replace the QUEEN, FREDDIE MERCURY or whatsoever. So, stop this. Just respect each other opinions. And by the way, nice commentary/reaction about the two singers.

You said it best that Lambert sounds like the 80's rock bands....those were the big hair and spandex pants bands that really hit some awesome notes. ...Like a rock opera, this is exactly what Queen has done with Lambert. People say Queen knows what they're doing because they obviously picked Freddie and now Lambert. Are they sure Queen picked Freddie or maybe it was the other way around.

      AKOM 20
Freddie was their flatmate and knew they were looking for a lead singer since Tim Staffel left them: Tim was Freddie’s friend who introduced him to May and Taylor.
Freddie kept saying that their band “would sound so much better” if he was their lead, but they kept auditioning other people. So, Freddie sang with another band and was quickly earning the reputation of a formidable musician with great creative ideas.
Once Freddie was performing a gig with his band and, apparently, May and Taylor were in the crowd. They hopped on stage after the band finished their set and started playing and Freddie started singing. The rest is history.
According to the people who knew the foursome (with Deacon later), Freddie was always the one with the most outrageous ideas and did everything better than May, who still to this day seems to compete with Freddie.
You and everyone should listen to the music Smile squeezed out of their creative box and the band names the duo were calling themselves before Freddie came up with the name Queen and the logo they use to this day! Freddie also came up with the wardrobe ideas for the band, and it is HIS songs (Bohemian Rhapsody & Killer Queen) that brought attention to the band Nationally and Internationally as well as it is HIS outrageous persona that helped Queen rise out of the sea of quasi-experimental bands.
May and Taylor have done very little since Freddie died. Creatively they are bankrupt without Freddie, or at least that’s how it comes across. They are very good musicians and used to write great songs! But, at this time in history, they come across as desperate to stay current and to fit in with the new trends in music, but.. it seems that they’ve completely lost any sense of creative direction and the vision Freddie had for them when he was running the band.

      czcams.com/video/3oJvAmxe6P0/video.html
About "nessun dorma", on that song Marc is way better. Adam seems to be weak on lower tones, which is probably his weakness. Not sure what do you mean with "who is who". They are both amazing singers. Just it seems to me that while Marc Martel sounds better on lower notes, he sounds like he struggles on high notes, with less power compared to both Freddie Mercury and Adam Lambert.

Some are, but all are in the studio. Live? Only occasionally and NEVER with Maylor. Give me some examples from Adam’s Queen renditions. There is plenty of opportunities in Queen’s scores, but Adam doesn’t ever climb over E5. That is my argument. I don’t care if he sings in the 7th octave at home in the show, who ever hears him use it singing Queen? Marc belted to G5 in a downhere song, but no one is bothered to compare that.
Besides, high notes are not enough to be a great singer.
Adam is a high tenor with a short but bright modal range. Keep him in the upper 4th and lower 5th, and he is a god of acid. But ask him to go lower, he loses all resonance and, worst of all, proper intonation. Ask him to sing a cappella, and he can’t stay on key, Nessun Dorma is an example. What about dynamics? Does Adam know what it means to build a dynamic phrase: he starts belting from the get go and has nowhere to go, let the song develop. And his self-serving contrived mannerisms of a cheap reality show contestant, that desperate “Look what I can do!” just kills every f-ing song he touches.
High noted only matter when you don’t know how to identify other elements of singing technique. I am afraid, there is an entire generation that has been brainwashed by reality junk judges that a) hitting high notes and b) being original is all that matters to singing. Hence, came a Pleiade of musically ignorant but loud karaoke singers who waste the material on showing off their high notes. Shame.

      Quali problemi evidenti? LOL
Ciao, tesoro!

Got to say, for me, Adam wins hands down. Which is not taking away from Marc - none of those songs are easy to sing - they're all built for a singer with a wide range (which Freddie Mercury obviously had). There's no doubt that Marc can sing, and he has nothing to be ashamed of. (I'm going to be kind and assume that awful shouted 'Another One Bites the Dust' was an aberration and he just wasn't well or something.)
But... I also think that when fronting Queen, there's more required than being a great singer. I think you need showmanship, and flamboyance - not trying to be Freddie, cos that can't be, but something of the same spirit. Adam has that in droves. Marc doesn't.
