    That "burial crow" looks suspiciously like a pigeon to me. Kinda sad they left out Kali's quest since it makes it easier to find the area where the Three Fingers is located. Then again, that could be why they left it out as it's somewhat of a "secret" ending.

      It's not a coincidence that they used pigeons. There's a good reason pigeons are so common in cities, for they used to be a very common/intelligent pet during the medieval ages. That's why they used carrier pigeons after all

      @@warlordjr.jr. Leaving unused assets in a game is vastly more simple than removing them. Game development is mostly a jenga tower, you just step back and try not to breathe when everything seems to be working. If you remove a seemingly unused asset or programming chunk, something else might break (if it turns out that something did use them that you had forgotten about) so you'd need to test everything once more.

      Tiche died a true death outside the capital protecting her mother too. I suspect that spot where death bird is. This is outside the capital. She died most likely by Marikas shadow, as one of those that can grant a true death. Death bird coming at midnight makes me believe Tiche was born of the formless mother, night (thus midnight) , and had destined death as power and curse (bird.. but destined to die), thus can call upon birds of destined death. Royalty even, as merchant nearby got some clothing he might have found. Who was her mother? Someone royal with a huge wound on her left side hanging around? Maybe a blonde goddess that gave Tiche a knife of calling for the bird when she meet Godfrey? A kid Marika got that has black knives combat move, from before Marika meet Godfrey, and before Marika got the first male of the golden order born? Eh.. maybe Miq will resurrect her. Turn her into a butterfly kid by rebirth.
      Marika to Tiche? “Hi my invisible black knife goth girl. I dumped your real father of the night in a Evergoal, meet this dashing blond of frenzy and order., Godfrey. Ye.. going to have a male kid, Godwyn, firstborn of the Golden age.. but here. Take this dagger of calling infused with holy order, and a nice office at north lift. Stay invisible my child, and keep making those cute flesh uniforms for your divine tower death guard armies my sweet. The age of night and death was fun.. but time for golden orderly age of plenty now..”.
      Tiches killer, with a death infused blade must been going frenzied by someone committing a cardinal sin. Like shattering rings. The shadow turned the royal guards into skeletons with death removed in no time. Marika probably feeling the paralysis of cardinal sin curse, like Ranni did in cave, thus not moving. It’s so much death in that area.. the frenzy energy of mad shadow might turned the stones into fingerprint shields, for entrepreneurs to sell too for later wars. The powers of death was huge. Destined death vs death removed. A complete death rune at work in that area.
      But I think Godwyn body might been placed there later since the place got so much death in it. A place for death worship, and remembrance of the 2nd age, age of night and death. The vampiric gothic age before the age of Godfrey, age of order, churches and holy magic (and blond hair), the golden era. Probably before the dragon age too.. the crucible age..

    Vaati! I'm certain some people already know of this, but you might not. The crucible knights' names Ordovis and Siluria are direct inspirations from Ages of the very Earth as a planet itself. (As in, pulled from soil samples) Specifically these two names have been pulled from the Paleozolic era, where there are 7 smaller eras: Cambrian, Ordovician, Silurian, Devonian, Mississippian, Pennsylvanian and Permian. Maybe, just maybe, the other 14 of the unnamed Crucible Knights of Godfrey were also named after ages of the earth?

      @LuciferLuckless Před rokem +202

      The Silures and Ordovices are also tribes of ancient Britons in Wales who likely would have served the mythical King Arthur, which makes sense as Godfrey has a lot of King Arthur parallels.
      These Welsh Tribes are also what the Silurian and Ordovician periods are named after. Both interpretations of the Crucible Knights - them being tied to Welsh Tribes and them being tied to the early periods of life on Earth - fit really well with the Crucible Knights, so I think their names were chosen exceptionally well.

    (9:32) About Miquella's Great Rune: I believe that the "Great Rune of the Unborn" is actually Miquella's great rune. The name itself is definitely a nod to Miquella at least, but the shape of the rune also follows the trend of sibling's great runes looking alike (Rykard's and Radahn's, Morgott's and Mohg's, and Malenia's and "Miquella's"). I was honestly so sure that everybody saw this that I've always considered it canon, and just thought that no lore videos mention it because it's so obvious... but maybe not hehe :'D

    @puzzleheaded6195 Před rokem +67

    9:40 I made a whole conspiracy about this when this when the DLC was announced that looks at Miquella’s possible influence in the current existing story. For example, judging from Turtle Pope’s dialogue, we know that Radagon left Rennala to become second Elden Lord after his union with Queen Marika but before he left, he bequeathed the Amber Egg that she is found cradling when we meet her in-game.
    Miriel claims she was left heartbroken because of his departure, but what if there is more to the story? What if instead of heartbroken, she’s actually bewitched?
    Let’s look at some details on the Amber egg:
    We are given dialogue from Gideon that the egg contains a Great Rune, and further progression into the game reveals it to be the The Rune of the Unborn. The rune is not revealed to be associated with any god in particular, much like the Rune of Death, but there are some interesting implications on it.
    Mohgs Great rune reads - “Mohg and Morgott are twin brothers, and their Great Runes are naturally similar.”
    Judging from that item description, the Rune with the most similarity to it is Malenia’s, who was Miquella’s twin. If this egg does contain the Great Rune of Miquella, possibly his soul too, then an explanation for the shape of the rune could be his curse - the “eternal childhood” - and possibly why the juveniles are imperfected and stuck as children.
    This brings me to my theory. Rennala is overly attached to it, calling it her little “culver”. We know from the Bewitching Branch that Miquella had the ability to compel love and affection and if we look close, we can see traces of it inside the egg, particularly the white buds before they hatch. We know anything that’s mixed with the blood or essence of Miquella tends to stay in a premature “infant” form, hence the Haligtree being stuck as a baby version of the Erdtree and now the buds inside the egg.
    Another thing to point out is the empty bird cages found all over the Raya Academy. I always wondered what the purpose of these were but then it dawned on me, there is an item in the game called “The Slumbering Egg” and it’s a crafting material needed to create items in the game that alleviate sleep. This makes me think the members of the Academy were trying to awaken Rennala from her “deep slumber” as Ranni says and at the same time, explain why the Knights of the Cuckoo marched against the Carian manor since they must’ve found out what Ranni is doing.
    So why would Ranni keep Rennala in her current state and attempt to possibly reincarnate Miquella?
    One theory is it’s because Miquella was in fact Ranni’s secret mentor, the Snowy Crone, and Torrent is the key to prove it, specifically his Whistle. The spectral steed whistle is made of a delicate “goldwork”, not just gold, mirroring the Item Description on the Unalloyed Needle. I didn’t think much of it at first but after seeing the flame of frenzy ending, I’ve speculated that the material is Unalloyed Gold. This is backed by the fact that the whistle is still intact after the flame of frenzy is unleashed. Gold only reacts to heat by melting and the fact that it’s burning in the ending is bizarre and means it could be rejecting the flame. We know that Miquella’s needle is made from the same stock and has the properties to ward away the effects of the flame of frenzy and rot, which both originate from outer gods. Torrent is also partial to the Frozen Raisins which are made exclusively from the Mountaintops with his mane being pale blonde like Miquella’s but that could just be a coincidence since Radahn’s horse has red hair.
    Or if you really want to go unhinged, Ranni may in fact be Miquella reincarnated. Miquella is thought to have an alter ego named St.Trina who’s going gender is open to interpretation(The double helix can be seen in Miquella’s needle which depicts the symbol for mercury(Roman God), who represents intersex people). In fact, the item description in the Sword of St. Trina states that he could’ve been a boy or girl. St. Trina is heavily tied to sleep and it can’t be a coincidence that Ranni enters a deep slumber at the same time as Rogier after you get close to retrieving her curse mark. During her first appearance in the Church of Elleh, the merchant and the donkey are also both asleep and the fog that covers the area can be seen on the Trina Lily and envelops all of Liurnia. Also, the juveniles in Rennala’s fight sing about sleep and St. Trina’s torch portrays the figure with one eye (Ranni always keeps one eye open).
    Something interesting about Blaidd is that his breastplate portrays two twins with a tree between, possibly being Miquella, Malenia and the Haligtree, and the double helix from Miquella’s needle can be seen in his Royal Greatsword. Blaidd could very well solve the mystery of their Shadow since they were born at the same time, being twins. His breastplate also tells us he always hated the cold but it never snows in Liurnia? I think the fact that Ranni discarded her flesh is the reason Blaidd has been able to help Ranni wage war against the Greater Will, right up to the point where Ranni murders her Two Fingers, going mad at the end of the questline because Ranni(Miquella) is in our pocket as a miniature doll. Speaking of Unalloyed Gold, the Mask of Confidence in particular could hint towards this secret. The gold threads could be unalloyed to hide Miquella’s(Ranni) secret from the Greater Will. This would also explain Malenia’s confrontation with Radahn.
    In her ending, She embraces Marika(her true mother) and vows to finish what they started which is to not be influenced by the Greater Will/Outer Gods anymore before creating a massive waygate into the Dark Moon(also explains why all the way gates smaller than our tarnished, since they were meant for a child).
    Finally, Ranni does sound like a child and she looks exactly like her doll which I believe is fashioned after Miquella. If you look at the statues of Miquella, he’s always depicted with his head much larger than his body which is a trait associated with infants and explaining why the “Greathood” found on the Mountaintops and the Snowy Crone Hat is meant for someone with a larger typical sized head which also sets a theme with the Glinstone Crowns, preceptor hats. Etc. Also, It only snows inside of Miquella’s husk in all of the Haligtree, further associating Miquella with the cold.
    I know there’s Miquella’s “body” in Mohg’s palace but I believe the it’s nothing but a husk since we don’t get a Great Rune. It’s likely he bewitched Mohg, Rennala, Seluvis, Gideon, Malenia etc. Even the player(why else would our character give her a wedding ring that clearly states “don’t give this to me”).
    “Oh? A dogged fellow aren’t we? Or is it thy habit to merely talk to dolls?”
    We know Radagon had a close relationship with Miquella so maybe the purpose of him bequeathing the egg to Rennala is to protect him from the Greater Will since Miquella seemed to have abandoned fundamentalism and the Golden Orders favor.
    Melina is hard to figure out but she does put us to sleep on top of the cauldron which could link her somehow as well.

    • @puzzleheaded6195
      @puzzleheaded6195 Před rokem +11

      @@TW-qw5zr First off, thank you for reading all of that. I got a bit tin foil after watching Morgott’s Cutscene again carefully. He’s manifesting the thrones based on his perspective judging from their variation in sizes but the Twin Prodegies are identical. If you look at Ranni’s discarded empyrean flesh it has the same stature as Malenia meaning Ranni was meant to grow as much as them but in the cutscene she’s depicted shorter.
      You could say the throne is meant for her doll form but Rogier confirms Godwyn is the “first” demigod dead in all of history and Ranni hasn’t been seen since the shattering. There’s also the fact that Miquella’s Haligtree can only be entered from the Mountaintops, an area that predates even the Erdtree. At face value you’d be right judging from Radagon being Second Elden Lord but there are hints in the game that could imply a different picture. To be honest though, it’s probably safer to take things at face value so things don’t get too unhinged even if it sure is damn fun to do sometimes.

    One of the biggest mysteries of Elden Ring is how exactly did Mohg kidnap Miquella from the Haligtree? Miquella was at the center of the capital city of his fiefdom, in an underground fortress guarded by some of the land's greatest soldiers, knights, and monsters, including his sister Malenia, in an area which is almost impossible to get to unless you have access to a specific medallion, find a forbidden elevator, and navigate through a perilous snowfield filled with more monsters and which you can't even see through for more than five meters. Yet Mohg is seen nabbing him from his cocoon in the introductory cutscene none the worse for wear.
    Well, I have a theory:
    While the Haligtree is supposedly a safe refuge for all outcasts, including Misbegotten, Albinaurics, etc. strangely, there are no Omen; however, what if there were at one time? What if Miquella gathered a bunch of Omen and took them to the Haligtree, but they were secretly double agents for Mohg? Once Miquella sealed himself in his cocoon, the Omen could have used their blood as a portal for Mohg to appear out of, like he does in his boss cutscene, steal Miquella, and then leave with him and all of the Omen.

    Speaking of the dlc teaser. I think the tree is actually miquella's haligtree due too the split branch look. Granted it says shadow of the ERDTREE, but isn't miquella's tree also technically an erdtree? Not to mention I looks like it's possibly in the sea close to the shore. So perhaps the Wheatfield is a thawed consecrated snowfield?

Too bad that you can kill her, I would've liked if she was a friendly NPC encounter that could give more lore through dialogue.

    Put your cursor on the Erdtree, then switch to the underground map, you'll notice that the base of a giant tree (that might be the Erdtree itself) is being climbed by thorn near where Fia, the death bed companion, is laying with Godwyn. Plus, the image of Fia from the intro, looks similar to the person riding Torrent in the DLC image. just throwing another theory.

    I'm not sure if this has been mentioned here, but there's another huge influence from Berserk in Elden Ring: Guidance of Grace.
    There's multiple panels, starting with the last two pages of Chapter 347, and in parts of some of the chapters that feature Casca's dreams, Danann provides guidance through streams of flower petals that bear a striking resemblance to the Guidance of Grace from Elden Ring.

    Hi Vaati, great video as always. I noticed one very coincidental thing: Cruicible knight Siluria is probably named after part of Paleozoic geological era, Named Silurian (Silúr in my foreign language). Sorry if it was already mentioned, if no, maybe it could lead to some explanations? Good luck😊

    • @asdergold1
      @asdergold1 Před rokem +1

      Similarly with Ordovis. Two divisions of Crucible Knights is what people speculate.

    • @WarMonger_the-One-and-Only
      @WarMonger_the-One-and-Only Před rokem +2

      To add on to this, the Silurian Period is the geological time period in which vascular plants, such as ferns and the earliest trees, evolved. Similarly, the Ordovician Period is the era where fish with actual jaws evolved, with the period being famous for the Great Ordovician Biodiversification Event. FromSoftware clearly named the two captains of the Crucible Knights, an order of warriors dedicated to, and wielding the powers of, primeval life, after two of the most significant steps in evolution.
      Hell, the names of the two Crucible Knights fit in well with the British undertones of Elden Ring as they, and the eras they are named for, take their names from two tribes of Brythonic Celts who came into conflict with the Romans.

    16:07 It's nice to see more of an establishment between Caria and Miquella, as Ranni gifts you the spirit calling bell from "Torrent's former master", and, if torrent's former master is Miquella, it always made me wonder how these two formed a connection in the first place. Perhaps Ranni formed her plan to steal the rune of death after her encounter with Miquella, learning something from their interactions.

    "Siluria's Woe" is nothing more than a translation liberty. Its Skill is named identically to Ordovis's Vortex but with Siluria's name instead, so it could be more accurately translated as Siluria's Vortex. (シルリアの渦, shiruria no uzu & オルドビスの渦 orudobisu no uzu)

  • @TheStoneArrow_Ave_and_Nick

    Nahr Alma, god of blood is very interesting, Nahr Alma can actually be translated to "Running river" or "River of water" drawing a parallel to mohg through Rivers of Blood, a weapon crafted by him. An interesting parallel when you consider the presence of quella on that same ring

    9:28 Another detail about the half-circles in the DLC teaser that you suggested could be Miquella's Great Rune: They’re very reminiscent of the hilts or blades of various weapons, that belong to followers of Miquella. Loretta's War Sickle and the Cleanrot Knight’s Halo Sycthe have a similar shape! The Halo Scythe also produces "Miquella's Ring of Light" from that blade. It also reminds me of a half-moon, which might be tying back to the moon and stars theme and Miquella’s fate or maybe the eclipse!

    Regarding the dark souls 2 tree shield there's actually numerous other references. Those who live in death can drop a shield that references a city that worships the Sun
    I'm pretty sure Elden ring is literally just dark souls 2 the way they wanted to make it back then.
    Zullie the witch has a few videos on cut content from dark souls 2 being reused in elden ring, like rennala's first phase

    I think I know why the concept of Arbor Sentinels was scratched. As the armor description told us, the knights were gifted to Miquella by Radagon, and you, not unreasonably, made a conclusion that he was still in marriage with Renalla. But how could the empyrean be gifted to by the champion if Miquella was a result of Radagon and Marika’s relationship? So that’s probably why the developers replaced the Arbor Sentinels by the Royal knight Loretta (unless I got the timeline messed up).

    2:10 Yes, I agree. More dynamic things like that merchant was everything I would wish for in an Elden Ring 2. Or I would wish those things restored for DLC.
    I was really disappointed over the Roundtable hold, because there were so little interactions too.
    Would be great if they give some things more live
    (I also like some of the depressing mysteries, but not every NPC needs to be in the same mindset and just in 1-6 positions and with just little binary decisions)
