Gratzzzz on the 900K ! on to that cool Million ! 🤘🦁🤘
5:02 - Folding the card, marks the card. :D
Also congratulations on hitting 900K. :)
I can wholeheartedly vouch for Aaron Cain. I’ve bought multiple different styles of deck boxes from him, and they all are both designed and constructed well. They’ve even survived in the wildly fluctuating weather of Oklahoma, which is rough on wood products.
ohh I just found this video - hope they do another kickstarter!! this is a must have!
I would love to get into magic its just so intimidating like its alot idk where to start
The quality of that Phyrexian box would be disappointing at a tenth of the price.
Looks like something out of a 1980s HeMan playset
Yup i bought 2 and B&G refunded 50% of my order as im international and I wanted to just return the whole damn thing. But after selling the mental misteps I am ahead financially though I have 2 useless fucking deck boxes. Mine were even bowed at the bottom so the boxes dont sit flat and spin like tops. Worst fucking product ever and i am never ordering another B&G product again.
If the promo card is $120 on the market the box sleeves and book cost about 10$!
Which is about what I'd pay for the sleeves and the book...
@@82ndmi it was obvious from the very product announcement that what wotc is selling is special version of mental misstep and the rest is just fancy packaging. and even then a lot of people bought this garbage of a product fueling wotc greed. very very sad,.
2023 WotC in a nutshell
As someone who also got the Phyrexian deck box, I felt it really lived up to the story arc.
Lots of hype for a wet fart.
new phyrexia was the first time i tried getting into mtg lore, i really liked urabrask and how he seemed like he was gonna be phyrexia redeemed, and then they killed him off screen completely shat on his story arc, and ive since lost interest in mtg lore.
The Ixalan story is the best lore since I've started playing I love it and love the characters.
Unfortunate that it came after Phyrexia. :(
The only successful invasion was of your wallet
@@Hfsm33 Accurate
@@AbsurdAsparagus very valid for today's lore. dont give up tho. what you should explore is the old lore. (especially if phyrexian lore peaked your interest) the lore of yawgmoth's rise to power and merging with a planet. the lore of urza and urza vs yawgmoth, the brother's war, the weatherlight crew, the story revolving around volrath's stronghold or tolaria. there is so much rich lore in the old stuff and even exploring the lesser villians and heroes lore is just as rich(k'rrik's is my fave). they even have books for all of this. i highly rec all of it
that phyrexian deck box is popcorn bucket levels of quality
Fr, looks like a lunchbox
Hey now, that’s a bit unfair.
A popcorn bucket is at least good at holding popcorn (and may be a better choice for card storage).
Stop insulting popcorn buckets and lunchboxes, guys.
I’ve had popcorn buckets that’ve held up for years with nary a crack or faded color. What you just said was an insult to popcorn buckets
I'd also like to point out that the Phyrexian product was delayed 3 times, the order window was early February 2023 and they didn't ship until late September 2023.
Mother of god. Taking me back to GoFundMe boom days
thats probably so folks couldnt chargeback/refund the garbage product
The physician box could LITERALLY just be 3D printed for the same quality and given to a child to paint and it would look the same and cost 20 dollars
might look BETTER honestly....
Cheap 3D printing is exactly the feel it gives off, and the lid design is also just… ugly, paint quality aside.
The price for the phyrexian deck box is absolutely insane. $25 would be too expensive
It looks like a trowaway box for the actual product rather than what you paid for.
It looks like a cheaply painted 3D piece made on a filament printer from generations ago. Absolute garbage
My thoughts exactly
I’d pay 12$ max at a yard sale for it
I don't play Magic, but that Chaos Orb deck box is _always_ impressive to see.
After buying the beadles and grimm deckbox for myself as a treat, nothing encapsulates the quality and my disappointment of this product more than the "Wizards 2023" on the bottom of it.
Seeing the quality of the B&G Deck Box ensures that I'll never buy anything from them. It's hard to imagine how you could miss that badly with a design, feel it in your hands, and still decide to ship it anyways.
I'm always surprised there's not more of a luxury MTG Accessory market considering how crazy much money people are willing to spend on the cards. So that opening joke hit really well lol
To be fair, I've sleeved a $5 deck in sleeves that costed me $10. And a deck box that was $20.
Yeah, fair@@tuongpham7609 , there's plenty of people who spend a helllllll of a lot on card games though, so you know what I mean :P
I'll use dragonshield duel sleeves, w/perfect fits on my expensive decks. And it fits in my 10$ toolbox perfectly
I'll normal sleeve pauper decks etc and they also fit in the 10$ toolbox
I got my deck box from Unnatural 20 Art, its a mimic deck box and it even has a little dice holder on the underside
They exist but demand is high so it’s hard to get enough made: artificers lounge on Etsy is sold out but has some of the best boxes around
I got an Aaron Cain deckbox years ago at your recommendation. The deck is unplayable Pillowfort jank, but it's fully-foiled Pillowfort jank and it deserves the best deckbox I could get for it. My only regret is that I had to settle on one design for it. There are so many wood combinations and engraving styles I'd like to try. I don't know if I'll be able to pitch in for his current Kickstarter, but I would definitely like to purchase another box or a box of holding. The quality is amazing.
"If you want a good deck box, you shoulda ordered the Academic." Is what I was expecting to hear.
I can't believe he didn't bring up his own deck box! I'm so happy with the 2 that I ordered from the Kickstarter
I complained to Beadle and Grimm about the deck box, and they refunded me a $50 gift card for their site. My box was worse than the Profs. It had over spray on it, the paint was smeared up the sides of the box, and my center divider was broken off. It was only held in place my a small bit of hot glue. Terrible product. The misspellings in the Phyrexian language guide are so funny.
I can absolutely vouch for Aaron Cain. Got an "Obelisk" deck box a few years ago and it has been the home for my beloved Sliver Hivelord EDH deck. The lids still close like day one, I think a truck could drive over it and nothing would happen, that is how sturdy it feels.
I can only second the Professors opinion that if I would be down to only choose a single deck box for the rest of my life, it would be the one made by Aaron Cain.
If you have a deck worth several hundred bucks or the one that is your absolute favorite one I think you own it to yourself to get something special and these deck boxes sure are worth the price.
Aaron Cain is my neighbor and old high school teacher! I had my first custom Obelisk made for my husband back in 2018, and Aaron Cain deck boxes have been a go-to special occasion gift tradition between us ever since. High quality, unique beauty and local artistry, can't get any better than Aaron Cain!
My B&G Phyrexian Kit also came in good condition, in the sense that it wasn’t damaged, but it feels like all the production tolerances were off. I’m strongly tempted to find a friend to help me 3D scan the thing, tweak the dimensions in the file so the base box is actually sized right and then the lid fits, and then handle the paint/finish personally. I still like the idea of the whole drop, but it’s really disappointing that the box itself is not one I would ever use outside of my personal living space.
Wow that phyrexian deck box looks like it needs tons of mods and repaint or dark wash just to not be blinding.
THAT'S WHAT IT IS! There's zero contrast on the white bits, and the fleshy red just looks bad. I was trying to wrap my head around it but realizing the white is just uniform grossness helped me realize.
I was shocked that he didn't have any of the Wyrmwood Gaming deck boxes. But now I have another deck box creator to look at now! Thanks, Professor!
Theyve stopped selling deckboxes for awhile now and personally id prefer supporting a smaller maker who does 1 thing and one thing well like AC. Wyrmwood makes mostly dice holders and furniture now I think?
He did analyze wyrmwood before, several times, though.
@@Ratchetfan321bought a deckbox from them in June. availability is not always the best but they def still make them
Wyrmwood also had some pretty serious allegations about the owners being bad people either last year or early this year, almost everyone stopped supporting them because of it
@@ElihuAran And what does those allegations have anything to do with the products they produce?
As a woodworker and tcg enjoyer, I truly appreciate Cains work. Seriously some of the best quality that I've ever seen.
Wow I have no idea why a custom wood/resin deckbox never occurred to me. Been looking for a new project to sink my teeth into...also my name is Aaron, so hopefully the expertise rubs off a little and I can show the community some TRUE works of art as well 👍😊
I've had an Aaron Cain deck box for a five years now. Aside from a couple scuffs Aaron Cain's box still looks just as amazing and functions perfectly.
Most* Expensive
You really should include the Box Gods Titan on this list. It's by far the best box I've ever used and is effectively indestructible. The massive metal 'click' when the lid slides on is immediately attention grabbing.
I'll add it to the list and check it out!
@@TolarianCommunityCollegeboxgods has both an EDH variant of their metal DeckBox and a 60 card version (it has a divider, for 60 cards and 15 for sideboard)
Notable downsides I can share immediately on them
- triple sleeved won't work, tested for curiosity
- the window sections are a plastic. Had one pop out on me actually. Used glue to put it back. Otherwise the thing is solid
Love the set! The industrial plumbing shelves look good, and I love the cork board with "free thopters" lol. Glad you're displaying the slipcase binders (not that they're available anywhere). Great stuff!
I love the TCC serene music when the professor reviews high quality products. I’m glad it’s in a lot of these videos!❤❤❤
I bought a box from Aaron Cain, in spalted maple, years ago when you originally showed his work on your channel. Mine has also held up very well. He built it to my exact specifications and it is a prized possession of mine.
I’ve always wanted that Chaos Orb one since you first showed it off years ago.
Hey Professor, first of all i have to say that i love your reviews videos, they made me buy lots of mtg related products and they always satisfied my needs. Couple weeks ago i watched your "Can Any Deck Box Beat The Ultimate Guard Boulder and Ultra Pro Tower?" and decided to buy 3x ultimate guard boulder and tray 100+ since i already own one boulder 100+ and several 80+ that i store in an ultimate guard arkhive 400+. This week i finaly got em from the mail and what surprised me was the fact that they dont realy fit into my arkhive 400+(ultimate guard too). The hive was suposed to hold 5x boulders 80+ or 4x100+ but when i removed the trays i found out that they are a few millimeters taller than my old boulder 100+ and that makes it impossible to close the lid on the arkhive. I was looking foward to store all my 4 commander decks in one arkhive... I think maybe this is something you should talk about in your next review on the deckboxs products. Thanks anyways for your guidance and please keep doing the good work you do! From a fellow Brazilian player, cya!
Was on the fence about the Aaron Caine KS, definitely pledging now. This video was very much some help to me.
After one of your videos from way back featuring the Leifkicker deck boxes in guild themes, i bought a custom one from him. Excellent communication, gorgeous high quality, and it turns heads
My Ebony and Holly obelisk deckbox from AC for my very first Commander deck is one of my treasures that I dont even use it anymore to prevent wear and instead have it as a display piece still my best deckbox (especially after also getting this phyrexian disaster of a box)
Cool to see a few premium options reviewed!
I love designing and 3D printing different deck box, tokens and counters for my cards it's addicting.
As a Zendikar fangirl, i need that hedron one 😍
Then RUN, my friend. Leifkicker announced recently that he is going to only produce on a much smaller scale now.
@@DinobotTM2 thanks for the tip 👀
As someone who has a liefkicker..its well worth the price. I absolutely love mine. I have a guild deck box which started at $75 but he is very transparent when communicating with you. No joke 15/10
I've got an Aaron Cain box for my cube, it's fantastic. Highly recommend his work!
Hey 900k subs! Congratulations!
And based on your reviews of the Aaron Cain deck boxes, I have 6 now, and while the kickstarter doesn't really take my fancy because I prefer the solid wood, I continue to support him to this day
Honestly the B&G deckbox looks like stomething, one can print on their home 3D printer. Like for that price I expect way more that what they delivered.
It would fit better + more snugly if they 3D printed it LOL. I'm guessing the plastic inserts are just factory moulds since they are so warped.
@@Chocolate83Bunny for sure. Injection molding is still way cheaper than 3d printing for an industrial scale market.
I appreciate your truly honest reviews, I hate buying multiples of things because of misleading quality expectations. Great video!
I will NEVER buy another Beadle and Grimm product again after the Phyrexian deck box.
That hedron deck box is a mighty need for me. I just built a commander deck revolving around the ally creatures from the zendikar sets and it would be absolutely perfect for the flavor of my deck
Have you done a review on hard card sleeves & boxes for them? If not, have you thought about doing it? A video on sleeving, storing, & even grading expensive cards for collection could be cool as well.
This reminds me of how much I enjoy my Academic deck box, it has everything I could ever ask for and more. Plus it'll likely be the highest quality box in my collection for as long as I enjoy card games!
I love how proud prof looks after nailing all the lines for his outro 😂
Thanks, professor. I always love these reviews.
The phyrexian deck box reminds me of what would come as a happy meal toy
I love that Sensei's Divining Top box.
My Fiance, at then BF, saw the Prof's video for the Leifkicker deckbox. I have one of the Sliver Eggs.
My Phyrexian deck box came missing two magnets, and the lid was warped as well. For a luxury product, I was really disappointed. Although the main reason i bought it was for the Mental Misstep and journal, so it was still worth it to me. The deckbox is basically just a dice holder at our game table now.
Aaron Cain is the person I would go to for a custom, "elivated" cardboard storage container for sure! I love the wood styles and the craftsmanship. I understand why they can last for DECKades 😅. 45 bucks is super worth it (based on Prof's acessment [that I've trusted for years], I've paid more Maple Syrip bucks for faarrrrrrrr more disappointing deckboxes over the years (maybe I should stop buying from pirates?) :P
We want to see a shake test on that Chaos Orb deck box!
Hey prof, I was grabbing some upgrades for Dina yesterday and I actually did have Sheoldred on my list. HOWEVER, I did not know how much it was. Not $69.....$135 at my local game store who takes their prices from face to face games(Canadian). Thankfully, they had already sold out so I didn’t have to be uncomfortable when I ask the store person to put it back 😂
Yikes…. I almost got the phyrexian deck box for a friend for their birthday, glad I avoided that train wreck.😅
Aaron Cain boxes are the only ones I use for my commander decks. I have about 10 of them and every single box i have gotten from Aaron Cain has been a work of art.
I know you already went over the regular deck boxes but I personally love the recycled boulders and wanted to know if you have any different opinions on them vs the regular boulders
I'm sure you got this alot
But I love your deckboxes....I show all my family and friends and they love it. It was such a steal that I truly believe you should upscale and sell to the masses
Imagine rocking up to a local Friday Night Magic game with a 'Leaf Kicker Dragon Skull' deck box. That would be a massive flex.
Does the stand come with the Top deck box nowdays? I bought my top ages ago thanks to the Prof's first reccomendation. I love it
Prof, you had said you were in the process of reviewing the Heavy Play products. Any updates on those?
I don’t have any fancy deck boxes like those but the 2 Gamegenic boxes I own are great!
I got the Kamigawa Platinum edition and could not have been more satisfied with my purchase. Every bit of it was a joy to open and all but the deckboxes remain a staple of my magic arsenal. To see them go from that to this absolute blunder of a product is baffling.
Speaking of luxury deckboxes, I'm aware she normally does yugioh and anime themed deckboxes and sleeves, but have you considered reviewing ManaMoon/Amanda LaPalme products? I use a few of her boxes for MTG, and she even did an oversleeve with a bunch of black loti which I use on one of my edh decks, which was clearly inspired by mtg~
I love seeing the custom deck boxes. They look amazing. If only I didn't try to carry a dozen decks with me all the time.
Is sad, though, that Leifkicker will be slowing down his production. His boxes were great, but according to him, time is short nowadays.
Yeah, I have been hearing he is winding down. It's really a shame.
Would love to see your review of the new wyrmwood deck box
I’ve been 3d printing commander display boxes for a bit now. You put your commander in a top loader and can see the whole protected card with the deck in the main compartment behind it. The lid slides on and holds without magnets. I only pay the price of filament and electricity. I still prefer its look to more premium boxes because I get to see my collection, not just the boxes it’s in.
These also fit really well into my Stanley organize the professor made me buy years ago.
I'm curious about your thoughts on 3d-Printed deck boxes. I've used a few and I'd say they're pretty good and affordable.
Professor, I need your help. I thought I saved a video of yours to watch later, but I can not find it now. In the video, you drew attention to a jigsaw puzzle that functions as peices for a game (not sure if it was a board adventure game, rpg, or another type). You mentioned they had "dinosaurs in space." I want to watch the video in full, and I want to look for that product. Could you reply with a link to thst video?
Wow I'm gonna be honest, I always thought the Chaos Orb was just a piece of art, I didn't know it was a deck box as well! Really goes to show the craftmanship.
Where do you get the swords of fire and I certainly from, they look so cool
I have a kakapopotcg deck Chest. it's nice. has space on the top for dice, and enough space in the deck area for 100 cards, double sleeved, with tokens. They're very nice for about £40 and likely unique in your LGS
I ordered an Aaron Cain wooden box and it is very high quality, but mine ain't perfect! The cover of my box can be very difficult to remove. I'm assuming I can sand it down or with general use it will improve? Humidity has been an issue as well. It is very sturdy and the wood is stunning, tho. No regrets
Please bring back reviews of products that are not cards. This is great.
Wooooooot! Another deck box review!
I love Aaron Cain's work and the Leifkickers both are worth it if you're after functional art
I was looking at the UANO double deck box with magnetic dice tray cover, or the Colossus Hammer double deckbox on Etsy, but I couldn't find any real reviews of either. Anyone got any experience?
Amazing work! Keep supporting independent artisans!
Need to get an Aaron wooden deck box for sure
Those wooden deck boxes are so beautiful!
I agree the Phyrexian deck box was disaapointint, and with their history of hardbound books, I thought the journal would have been more than just a booklet. Recently kickstarted the Deckimono, which look beautiful and I would love to see you review them at somepont.
Same saw the black and white ones and made a Kickstarter just to back them
Thank God I ordered my Aaron Cain box last week
why do i feel like this is a flex and to show off his own Leifkicker and Aaron Cain boxes 😂😁
Everything other that the first one are great decoration pieces. Being a deck box is just a bonus.
It looks like the B&G phyrexian box was 3D printed in Timmy’s garage and Johnny was tasked with painting it.
I want that sword of fire and ice on the wall there. Where does one get it?
The chaos orb and sensei's ”boxes” are sick AF
that chaos orb one is sick
i started 3d printing some deck boxes cause i didn't want to buy anymore then i came across this video and there so nice i want to buy one of the wooden ones
I am both happy and sad to know the LK boxes are now that expensive. When I got mine they were around the price of a regular commander deck (the box ones, any show in this video. I think the hedron was lowest $95, and considering the shake test flying color pass, that price was an absolute steal; I don’t want to know what it is now, but I am happy for the seller’s success).
That phyrexian deck box is incredible!
I'm ok with the academic as my most premium deckbox! Thanks Prof. 😂
Thanks for this.
Hello Prof! Any chance of recommendations/reviews for slightly oversize boxes in the future? I've been a longtime user of Boulders but my decks seem to have grown in girth in recent times... over half of my decks no longer will fit in a boulder (I'm still using dragonshield inners and outers... not sure why my decks are too chunky now...)
I would love to see your take on the options out there for boxes that will fit just a bit more than 100 double sleeved cards....
Game Genic Bastion 100+ XL works amazing. I had the same issue. love the new boxes (and they're about the same price, which is nice). Fits 100 double sleeved cards, the commander in a mini snap, and like 6-8 sleeved tokens as well!
Boulder 133+
I’m glad someone said something about the P:AWBO from Beedle and Grimm. It was a massive disappointment, that took waaaay to long to ship!!!
the aaron cain ones look REALLY nice and reliable. if I was gonna go with a higher end one you've sold me on one of his.
I have 11ish of his boxes and every single one is excellent quality. Plus dealing with him for customs is so easy, super nice dude
Oh hey cool, that's my reddit post. Receiving the Phyrexia deckbox was, in short, really depressing. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought "yeah, play-doh color/craftsmanship".
The center of my Phyrexian box wasn’t glued on properly, and the paint job was terrible. I ended up keeping the box and I’m painting it over for fun. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
No shake test on the phyrexian one? We wanted to see it fail even more!
Thanks for the video prof!
Oh hey, the interior dividers on yours were actually connected to the wall! Congratulations!
I'm still not convinced to switch from my $0.89 BCW 200 count cardboard box. It fits double sleeved and numerous tokens, is sturdy and I can even add custom markings.
