- Thanks to my day job at Kelley Blue Book, I drive and review lots of cars. This 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S is one of them. The Mercedes-Benz AMG is a midsize luxury SUV that competes with the BMW X5, Audi Q7, and, perhaps, the new Genesis GV80. In this video, my wife, daughter, and test the fastest version of the GLE, the AMG GLE 63 S to review its positives and negatives from a family perspective.

Most likely not. Since I am not that fancy I would probably get a TrackHawk, then yes, go to the track with it.
Not ANY race track! Although given the wanna-be racers here in California, that debate would be settled on a near-daily basis.

This summer my husband and I bought a GLE 450 with AMG line exterior styling in polar white with the macchiato interior. Instead of the wood trim (I agree with Evie) the trim is the metal weave. We had never seen the metal weave before and we think it makes the interior look quite youthful, sporty, and masculine. The vehicle was spec’d for a Miami dealership, and it looks like it - It’s very fresh, sporty, stylish, light & bright. Perfect for the Miami / south Florida market (we’re on the other coast in Naples) and also perfect for our careers as luxury Realtors. We love it! We’ve never had a vehicle that gets as many compliments as this GLE 450.

Amazing video amazing family as always. For me the GLE63 is yes for those that love performance. But I’d go no higher than the GLE53. That’s just me!
understandable. Our GLE 53 is a great balance between comfort and performance. Fast enough to overtake people on the freeway at high speeds and comfortable enough to enjoy a 5 hour road trip lol
This has to be the biggest price differential between base and as tested surely? $54k to $135k!?
because the base version is a 4 cylinder and this is a V8
Yea I face palmed at that also - maybe the Dodge Durango to Hellcat has a similarly huge spread (35k to 135k)

I think the 63s variant of the GLE is not available with optional 3rd row seating. The 350, 450, AMG 53, and 580 trims do have 3rd row seating as an option.

I just now noticed the family friendly animation is a teddy bear being thrown, I’ve thought it was a baby being thrown this entire time 🤣 I like it better as a baby being thrown between the mom and dad.
Ha! It's true. It looks SO MUCH like a baby be thrown around. Evie chose that shot for that exact reason.

Family friendly is unfortunately a badge for only the driver’s family. Kids hidden by the long tall hood of these SUVs make it a threat for pedestrians, cyclists and kids... if you care about other people’s family ... you should not drive an SUV.

Arms rest heaters are an option on the GLE's for the masses, likely standard on the AMG.

Starting price not from the AMG version. $54K is the starting price for the 2.0L inline-4 turbo.
I definitely prefer the GLC interior without the huge screen, I like the 2 separate screens plus the circular vents. This is such a monster though, nasty suv.

That black headliner is so out of place in this beautiful bright interior.
I bought one so obviously I like the styling. The best looking SUV is a Range Rover sport, but this is second best and likely more reliable.

Just don't like sun/moon roofs. Solid tops are still nice. Dark inside, see better outside. I have a sunroof in my current car, and have never opened it.
The styling is okay, not one that has me rushing to the dealership, but not offensive in any way. Oddly enough, I prefer the styling on the Genesis. There's a ton of performance to like on the Merc though - but the price on this example is bordering obscene.

How is 19mpg acceptable in 2021…
The fact a 5,000 lb car with a 600+ hp V8, AWD, wide performance tires, and a billboard for a front end manages double digit fuel economy is still impressive in 2021. A Grand Cherokee Trackhawk or Durango Hellcat will struggle to get 12.
