Definitely don't follow the curly girl method either for a lot of the reasons you mentioned. I work out 5x a week. I can't imagine not using actual shampoo 😭😭
Same !! 😇
We don't NEED to scrunch. We don't NEED tell our kinky/curly hair to BE kinky/curly 😂😂😂 It'll do it all on its own lmaaaoooo
FACTS lmao our hair doesn't need to be told a damn thing- it's just going to do as it pleases 😂😭😭😭
Shampooing is definitely crucial! It’s my favorite part of my wash day as well & I enjoy your chatty videos very much 😭
Awe I'm glad you enjoy them! And yes shampooing is honestly my favorite part! 😭
I use a sulfate shampoo. I need my hair to be cleann cleann
And you’re absolutely correct when you say the cgm wasn’t designed with our hair in mind! Another reason why I choose not to follow it
One of your very best videos and I don't mind the chattiness at all. I am an advocate of shampoo, shampoo, shampoo! I am also an advocate of using hair tools like combs and brushes to detangle, using my fingers is not enough to detangle my type 4 hair. Again great video.
Awe thank you! I love shampooing as well! I also couldn't imagine life without a brush, so I really don't know why that was an option 😭
I have to pre poo for detangling BEFORE the shower every week because my hair tangles easily. I’m so jealous of people who can detangle in the shower. Plus, I shed and I’d be standing in the shower for hours clogging it up!
😆 You absolutely need a brush for thick long curly hair! I could've never done this method. I used to try because of mahogany curls but she has smooth fine 3b/3c hair and I have thick normal/coarse 4a/4b/3c hair
Great information! I use my fingers initially to detangle and remove shedded hair and then I take my brush and run it through my hair and it works fine so far.
You’re preaching the facts today hun! Love it!😂🥰💕
This was awesome and I love how detailed and personable you are. I have so many questions about my hair so keep being “chatty” because I’m learning from you! ♥️💯🙌🏽
So much great information! Thank you for sharing!!
GIRL your lashes😩 poppingg
I agree with all you have said. My sentiments exactly.
Seem to me we are still learning about natural hair like coming out with products, methods and solutions to style and get to know your real hair ❤️
Your hair is absolutely beautiful 😍
I wanted u to address silicone so bad 😭 PERO WHY NOT !! Please make a pt 2 to this !!
Girl I realized when editing that I didn't talk about silicones at all- so I'll definitely make a part 2 or a video solely on this! I got you sis!
@@curlelia Girl bless your heart thank you thank you !! I feel like there’s a difference between things that have silicone as like the 2nd ingredient as opposed to the last ingredient or when to use them it’s just too much and that’s what I’m so confused about !! I appreciate it !!
❤️ your channel!
Thank you so much for sharing this!!!
You're welcome! ❤️
I needed this video
I was also only detangling with my hands for a long time and all of a sudden I noticed these small, tied knots that my hands could NOT get through not even if I tried. Now I'm using the tangle teezer naturally curly detangling brush and I'm super happy!
Shout out to you for trying! My hair was like girl, nah lmao- I NEED a brush.
@@curlelia 😂😂😂👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I used to dry my hair when I lived in Puerto Rico when I was little. My mom hated it. She said it will get me sick. LOL.
When I heard about the CGM, I knew it would not work for me. My hair gets weighed down easily. I think it’s a good guide, but not THE only guide.
I have cut my hair twice and grew it back natural twice! I always use pantene shampoo and conditioner. I always leave the conditioner in and wash again, weekly. No problems! I have went from mohawk to middle of shoulder blade hair in 2 years.
My hair loves water and conditioner! So it depends on the hair!
yaaas thanks for sharing! That's why I'll never tell someone what they have to do. I always say if it works for you, DO IT. So i'm happy you know what works and what doesn't because I understand the struggle 😭
I'm still trying to find the right balance, some days a water wash feels amazing others it is horrible, same with shampoo, sometimes it kills any curl and others it let it shape. Currently trying for determine how much brush is too much brushing, I feel it helps my when it is wet and doesn't snap my hair too much but "separate" my hair too much
scrunching works for my 3b/3c/4a coarse/thick hair! the trick is rly getting ur hair wetttt and saturated. my hair deffo doesnt get straight wet lol but i get where ur coming from. i don’t do it necessarily to encourage curls but rather do it to fully distribute the product/water. doing that lets my hair get so hydrated.
I have 3b hair and scrunching doesnt work for me at all.
Yeah honestly, thats the beauty of curly hair! You and the girl who commented down below have the same curl type, and can't use the same method. You see, I can scrunch, but my hair needs to be fully styled with my wetline or eco gel. But even then, frizz peeks through 😭😭
Right there with you Mia 😭😭
I remember stop using shampoo and start using a Cowash smh. I believe that we should just know our hair and what's best work for our hair and not follow what anybody say what works for other may not work for you.. I have high porosity hair and I remember some other girls say that we should NOT use a gel!! girl my hair use to be dry dry dry it wouldn't last I use to try everything that other high porosity girls did and nothing work It came to a point where I just want to relax me hair and call it a day I remember styling my hair and it didn't came out the way I want it and I remember looking in the mirror and I was like I hate my hair!!! why didn't I have low porosity hair, because most girl I see both on Instagram and CZcams have L/P, and I remember seeing you using the wetline Xtrene gel and I remember saying I don't care about the natural hair community or what is good or bad in their books I'm just gonna try using a gel to see if it work in my hair Long story short in the space of 1 to 2 month I'm on my second bottle pairing that gel with a thick creme is HEAVEN I'm so so so happy I try your routine.
Imagine you have low and I have high porosity hair and your routine works for me.
CGM was not made for curl patterns 3b and up, period. It's not up for debate. I don't have to do a seance and meditate for 16 hours a day for my hair to be curly. If you were confused when you started looking online for help with your hair and started hearing all these people say they didn't know they had curly hair etc etc until they started CGM then CGM isn't for you.
I have the same curl type but my density is no where near as thick as yours and I have tried and tried and tried to use my hands for detangling, I lose more hair and my nails always get caught rather than just using a wide toothed comb or brush. I cannot be the one that finger detangles.
You hit 🎯 your journey is an individual one
Bamboo towels are made of actual bamboo fibers. It's not the same as a microfiber towel which are made of man made materials.
Thank you for clarifying! ❤️
Do you rinse with warm water when washing deep condish out as well?
How do you feel about dry shampoo?
Keep using your brush girl 👏👏👏👏 these people are crazy 😱
Literally me when I first tried to go natural my hair was a itchy mess with all the build up
🧡🧡🧡 🤗
C. G. Was A MESS for my hair!
You're not alone girl!
I never even knew this was a thing 😂 ill never stop using shampoo my hair loves heat
I tried the method and my scalp was irritated and my strands felt so coated. I damage my hair so bad… trying to keep using the method, even though I felt it was working. It’s like I was trying to force this method to work 🤨🧐😒😬🤫🤭😑😶lol
I never followed the method. I never understood not using shampoos. This method was not meant for us. I was watching Mahagony curls and even her went back to shampoos because year of not using shampoos cause a huge buildup
I’m a fan of the chatty videos!!!
Yay! I appreciate this so much! ❤️❤️ thank you!
Two years ago I stopped shampooing my hair (only used rhassoul which is moroccan clay), like described in the curly girl method. Yeah let's just say my hair didn't like it. I had a lot of buildup, to the point where my hair strands were stuck together. As soon as I started shampooing my hair again it went away. A lot of these "rules" seem pretty random, and don't work for my low porosity hair.
These "rules" weren't designed for us. I've come to realize that as my journey has progressed. I'm happy you're finding what works and what doesn't. I know I wasn't putting two and two together right away. I used to think, well if it works for them it's gotta work for me 😭
No shampoo 😱😱😱
No shampoo?! 😳😳 oh nah Lmaooo I never heard of this method.
Random but the “no oils or butters” does not work for me lol my hair lovesssss shea butter and coconut oil way more than styling products. My hair flourishes when I use 100% natural ingredients
My hair is not the biggest fan of natural ingredients- so it's always funny to see how different and versatile curly hair really is! But yeah that rule is so bizarre!
What about silicones?
I don’t mind chatty depending on who it is. I’m chatty too. I can talk for hours about anything 😂 Sad thing is I think I get on everybody’s
Girl I find my voice soooo annoying sometimes that I'm like oh yikes this is very chatty lmao so I feeel you!
curly girl method doesn’t even make sense. they do too much 😭😭, they literally just need to wash, condition, and use a gel/mousse/styler. no scrunching either
That's why they see natural hair as work. To me, hair is to be enjoyed, not endured.
