Being a FedEx ground driver is..... challenging. No two routes are the same, no two trucks are the same, no two contractors are the same.... The list goes on. Lifting heavy boxes by yourself, fixing the mistakes of others on the fly, navigating the streets trying to find where each package goes. There are a lot of things to not like about this line of work.
On the flip side there are a lot of things to like about it as well. Stick around to the end of the video to hear some of those.
I AM LOOKING FOR DRIVERS WHO WANT TO VLOG THEIR DAY AND BE FEATURED ON THE CHANNEL. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED GO DM ME ON MY INSTAGRAM PAGE: / delivery_pro_army
dude having a shitty loader is the worst thing to come into in the morning. I have a great loader wed-fri but mon, tues, sat i have a horrible lady that does it. gotta get up extra early those days!
I bring back stuff if it’s unreasonably loaded. Like if my sid number for example of 1000 is not in the 1,000’s and I find it with 4,000’s later. Bring it back. N tell ‘em. I get a lot of unmanifested packages. Bring it back. At my warehouse we don’t get paid to load the truck or help load it. And a lot of package handlers leave big stuff outside the truck thinking we’ll load them. Nope. Drive away as loaded. If all they get paid to do is scan a box n slide it off that conveyor belt. Fire them. Pay me their pay. N I’ll just come in earlier n load my own truck. They don’t load it. Gets left. They damn sure don’t help deliver the truck. Why should the driver help load the truck n not get paid
I thought I was the only one who didn’t want to talk to customers for a signature 😂
Hate that shi
thanks for the vlog!
I definitely stopped carrying those super heavy packages over my shoulder. Team lift boxes with no teammate, especially to an upstairs apartment 🤦🏽♂️
Fuck that put it in mailroom. It's perfectly legal and ethical. It's on the scanner for a reason..
@@planetjupiter2551 unfortunately some apartments don’t have a mailroom and some offices refuse to let heavy packages be brought there. Soooo potentially injuring myself trying to carry it upstairs is out of the question
@ExPliCiTCoNtEnT2010 it's ridiculous because we are a delivery service not a moving service. Once I had like 6 or 8 bulky well over 100lbs boxes. It was on the 3rd floor. My manager told me to just put it in the entrance and show that on the scanner It is in the lobby (no mailroom). Saves 20 minutes of hell and injuries. Anyways yeah furniture is always annoying!!!!
And I have a herniated disc nope I’ll deal with Amazon it’s cool.
@ExPliCiTCoNtEnT2010 the other day I had these loft bed sets they where wider and taller than me and at or just over the weight limit. Anyways I put them in the mailroom because it was 3rd floor and I couldn't physically get a grip on them. (My guess is around 170lb) I had to drag them into the lobby. The home owner was mad but I didn't feel bad because I would hurt myself if I even tried. Anyways I think the landlord got some guys to move them up the stairs but thats as ridiculous as I've seen
I started as a FedEx contracted driver 2 weeks ago. I enjoyed your video and thank you for the tips and confirmation of the issues that we all seem to face.
How it go
from one ground driver to another....solid
The look on your face walking up and down the stairs. 😂 I feel you bro. Good stuff. My route is completely different than yours, other than putting boxes at doors... That's kind of a given
Great video!
I’m a driver in Minneapolis and I absolutely love it. The contractor I work is amazing.
I’ve been watching hella fed ex driver vids since I went to my interview yesterday and this comment is so refreshing and rare to see, haha. Ik it’s gonna be a lot of demand but I wanna say I will like it. We’ll see
I think FedEx is just 100% what contractor you have. I enjoy my job for the most part I’m 21 out of Kansas and my contractor pays us $24hr with the chance of that being bumped to $25hr sometime in the future. Biggest thing I hated was a route they always gave me but I told my management I hated that route so much and just like that they stopped giving it to me and I also work mom-Thursday 3 days off on the best days to have off imo. But like I said depends on contractor if I worked a regular day so 8-5 I’d make $216 that day or if I get bumped to $25 it would $225 a day but I know a contractor at the terminal who pays a daily rate which is only $150 a day for close to the same amount of work.
Bro we got the same problems at my job 😂😂😂 loaders, IC’s suck, having to organize your own truck is wild asf and the signatures 😂😂😂😂😂 you are not alone 😂😂
Just started fedex 3 weeks ago, im about 20 stops a hour. Those collar shirts aren't good lol. I definitely like the advice on the job
I’m from Toronto, been a d3 driver for almost 2 weeks now and I’ll say it’s the calmest job I ever had . Started training other people too . Only bad thing is not being able to clock maybe 40hrs a week due to having a lot of other drivers and having to share up routes. But other than that if you like driving and good with deliveries, I’ll recommend
Do you want to do a Vlog?
Thinking of applying to Purolator here in Vancouver....Impressed you say the calmest job, do you find weather a huge hurdle for you over there?
Hey - I’m in Oakville. Any tips on applying for the role and getting the actual job? Are you still enjoying it? Cheers
I invested in a massage gun after working this job for a month! Very needed!
Hahaha I didn’t get mine for this but it definitely comes in handy 🤣
@@Deliverypros I had to. Use it daily lol purchase of the yr!
Just finished my first week of training for ground. At my terminal, there are alot of ppl calling in sick on a daily basis and the other drivers are forced to pickup the load. The manager has been driving the routes on his day off to help fill the void lol. Its madness, but i can see the job security is there tho 😂
“At my terminal” 😂 that’s every terminal buddy
My contractor just announced a 401k for us starting in January. Don’t think that was out of the kindness of his heart but because of the impending Express volume when they dissolve Express. They know people are gonna quit left and right lol

Your right i call this job it’s fedex fitness, you don’t need to pay for the gym membership but you work and loose weight and you get pay and plus have a lot of your own boss time…let’s goo!!
Before I got hired at fedex I was squatting about 500lbs Max and benching 315. Now I eat junk gas station food, vape, and can barely get 225 up. You'll definitely loose weight and muscle
@phantommah8042 it kinda just sounds like you gave up working out, before you mis read me I work a wetland job that requires a lot of endurance and takes it out of me to the point I don't want to but I've been gaining and been able to go longer. It depends how much you want to do in a day. Go with the Mike center approach if you want that muscle back right 👍
@yodiggidydog9641 yeah i gave it up while i was at fedex. It was pointless being a big guy and just a fedex worker. The income wasn't there to sustain my healthy eating, the actual workouts wouldn't be good after work, and it's not like I'm making a living off the gym so work takes priority and you don't need to look like The Rock to lift a box and drive a truck. Fedex will somewhat get you in shape given you've never touched a weight or did any exercise in your life but that's it. Don't expect to come out looking like zac Efron in bay watch
@phantommah8042 I see where you're coming from, even my buddy from work who is making gains says it's shit to try and I can see why lifting boxes wouldn't make great money to sustain that lifestyle. I'm about to get into it so hoping I get good contractors and package handlers. Just going to come in early every day.
I don’t have an IG but I’d do some vlogging. I’d be interested to see a mashup of some drivers & their routes across the states

1000's under 4000's, not good. Also, 4000's should be on the other side of the truck.
Hi, Chris. Good video! I've been a FedEx ground driver for about 8 1/2 years. I relate to everything you mentioned. I hope to create some vlogs to be part of your community. But for now I'll say this; I hate this job, not for what the job is, but rather for the disregard and disrespect that comes directly from FedEx. It pays decently for what it is, but our pay rate was slashed by nearly 25% three years ago while FedEx profits skyrocketed, and THAT is what it's all about. Take care of your people, and your people will take care of the rest. More to come...
Amen. Reach out to me on instagram and let’s get you on the vlog!
It doesnt come from FEDEX...it comes from the contractors...Most routes are contracted from fedex through private companies....those companies are responsible...I was contracted through HERTZ and cleared 1,300 every week. but some contractors dont do that, some just pay you a set amount daily....which is why most fedex workers probably are barely clearing 600 .
@@1PerfectAgony I cant find any info about how much contractors actually make from Fedex routes. I always wondered that but can never find actual answers.
@@kurtiscal3msetccdwell618You’ll never find reliable answers because again, it varies from contractor to contractor…..One contractor might pay you 700 a week SALARY, meaning your check will always be 700 regardless of how many hours you do….But some contractors pay you hourly and overtime, like the one I worked at….I cleared 1300 every single week, the money sounds good but don’t think you aren’t gonna put that work in for that kind of money….
It's retarded because the fedex express guys in my city RENT there delivery vans. Thats right RENT. They are the car size vans not stepvans like p1000 or p1200. They don't have shelves and they have truck shortages left and right. Ground has and always will push more volume than express but of course corporate gets paid more.
I tried for two weeks got fired cause I couldn't deliver 269 in 8 hours because of all the pickups
Hi, i work for express here in England my biggest pet hate is we have to get signatures for everything an absolute pain when people are not in
Everything!? 😳 holy crap…..
The company I work with in Ireland. Everything comes out of the lorry down the belt and is put into driver bays according to the area you deliver in. And if there is any mis sorted freight its easily sorted. So every morning I lay out my own run and load my own van. Takes on average 2 hours. Way more efficient than this.
I go back-and-forth on this in my mind. It only takes me about 40 minutes to sort my truck once it’s been loaded. Some days it feels like it would be better if it hadn’t been loaded and I just loaded it but, I think most days it’s best to have it loaded for me.
@@Deliverypros Yea I must be carrying more freight then :D ha ha

Good thing we don't have those big heavy ones at Express. Also, it's a no no at Express to drive with bulkhead door open.
UPS does it all the time. Are your trucks A/C? UPS is not.

😏Better to be a PM pickup driver at FedEx EXPRESS🚚

boxes so huge I am only like 5'3 and about 120 so no way I am lifting those boxes that are like 140 maybe if they had smaller packages
The big stuff I slide off
I was looking for a female driver!! Thanks for responding.
Looks like your just dropping off packages and not taking pics of packages at door. Express you have to scan, confirm delivery then take pic with your Leo. That's why you can go faster than some of the fedex drivers. Express does more than ground according to your video. We load our own trucks off conveyer belt, then scan with leo before we even leave station. Wish we could leave at 730am. It's 930 - 1000am before we leave
I have to scan and take a picture. I’m just really fast at doing it haha. We don’t have to load the trucks but if you want to go fast you do have to sort for at least 40min to an hour to get all the serial numbers facing you. The place you lose the most time is in the truck looking for the package, so I try to minimize that as much as possible.
The one nice thing for y’all express boys is not having to deal with the big stuff 😂 there was a day where I had 7 dressers all going to different houses. Heck of a workout though 🤷🏻♂️
Most of express is envelopes or light packages….
@SniperKills100 some is but we also have some heavy packages that go to hospitals, auto parts places and factories. Especially metal fabricators. But there are talks about combining express and ground together soon so we'll see how that goes

It can. I don’t set it up like that. The system isn’t particularly smart
It does have a map on your scanner, but yes, like he said, it isn't the brightest the way it organizes your stops. Best to learn your route by heart. Addresses, names, timing, traffic. 😂 You'll notice patterns everyday in people's lives.
I just started fed ex ground about a month ago I like it 4 the most part I deliver in the Smyrna ga area an imma say the organization in the truck an the way the route is set up helps things move smoother I actually set up my route in ground cloud b4 I leave the station after I organize my truck

Is your route more suburban/city? Or more roral/country?
Suburban/country. I’ll be 100% honest, most of the time it’s a very easy route. The hard part is there’s a lot of new development so there’s tons of furniture. I deliver 10-20 couches a week. And endless sea of bed frames and mattresses 😂

What kind of pants r those?
They’re from a company called Puli
Do they offer health insurance? Also, can you work in the warehouse as well as being a driver?
Contractors are all different, so one may offer insurance. Mine does not. And it probably wouldn’t be a great idea to work in both. Warehouse work mainly takes place at night so you’d be driving sleep deprived which is a big no no
@@Deliverypros Thanks.
You should probably try learning your route instead of relying on your equipment/maps every day. Everyone knows how crappy their equipment is. 25 year express employee here. Fedex has really dumbed this job down when they hired people that were unable to memorize areas, streets.... all they have are people that sit on their phones mapping streets all morning.
So has FedEx ground and express have merged. Yet

if the sorter doesn't scan the package it's on them. There's a form to fill out. No scan, or they put the package in a different section of the vehicle, There is a form you can place your stickers, and say what happen. Your dumb if you google address and go back. You don't get paid by hour but by day. So when the sorters who get paid by hour screw around you think you should google a un scanned package. If your all holy and crap, get there early and scan every package yourself, some do it. I'm a Veteran, don't care.
There must be a difference from one contract to another. We are supposed to deliver everything we can, scanned or unscanned. My area isn’t very big, it’s just dense, so it’s a pain to go back but it’s not the end of the world. I could see how that wouldn’t work for every area though.
Plus their system is horrible!! I work for ups it’s more organized
Cant argue there
Are you an employee of a contractor?
Yes
@@Deliverypros how are you being compensated for the time it takes to organize your mess the loaders create?
I get paid per stop and have it in writing so I’m net getting paid until I drive to my route and make my first stop.
@@frankarvia634 I have a video talking about my compensation. I have a daily pay I get paid no matter what and then I get paid per stop for every stop over 150 stops.
As far as organizing goes, I do it because it’s the number one reason I can go as fast as I do. It takes time and I’m not technically paid for it, but the organizing I do probably saves me an hour or two of delivery time per day.
Before I started organizing I was doing 25-30 stops an hour, losing a lot of time looking for packages in the back. Now I do 40-50 stops an hour and never spend more than 10 seconds looking for each package. It’s well worth the time it takes when it makes me go that fast.
You have the easiest looking route I’ve ever seen. Brand new gated communities !? Come deliver in the hood where you can’t leave boxes anywhere in sight or skip any signatures. I see you’re complaining of the 1% of your work but after doing this for 6 years your route looks like a rookie route. Those big boxes are easy when you use a hand truck. Don’t be like this guy. Use a hand truck.
So first of all….. hand trucks are for pansies and the elderly 😂 second, I’ve never complained that my route is hard. It has a lot of furniture. But I agree, it’s super easy most days. This video isn’t about my route. It’s about the job. You’re welcome to do your own version of the video. I notice you’ve tried your hand at making videos…. Doesn’t seem like it’s going too far 😬 And Utah doesn’t have a lot of hood…. So I’m out of luck there.
Anywho, are you bragging about how hard your route is? Cause that’s kinda dumb….. I’d rather brag about how easy my route is 😂 work smarter not harder. If you can’t negotiate an easier/safer route for yourself with your contractor you should either quit, or you’re dumb. This job isn’t worth doing things the hard way. It doesn’t pay enough for that.
Drive save boss. And don’t be a dick 🫡
If you hate it so much, quit. Stop whining.

I appreciate the brutal honesty, and his pet peeves aren't any different than any of the rest of us drivers' respective peeves. You ever heard of a dolly bro
Two things. One, I don’t have a dolly. We have a dolly shortage 😂 haven’t had a dolly for months. Two, dolly’s are slow. Makes a stop take twice as long. I’ll add in a bonus one, if you’re doing this job, you should be able to lift 98% of what you get on the truck. Maybe once a week I get something that I physically cannot lift, usually because of size rather than weight. But usually if it’s heavy, long, and wide I can at least roll it up the driveway 🤣
