Geth Colossus vs Vanguard(Insanity, No Health Damage, No Cover) - Mass Effect 2 Legendary Edition
Vložit
- čas přidán 14. 06. 2021
- Fighting the last battle on Haestrom to get to Tali.
A few things have been changed from the original Mass Effect 2, like the respawning enemies, even if you get to the Colossus fast, or the quite common use of the machine gun from the Colossus.
Still, it was very fun and quite easy with the Vanguard.
This fight seems to be tougher in the Legendary Edition since enemies continue to spawn even if you reach the Colossus, unlike in the original where you were able to fight it alone if you Charged it directly.
In addition to this, the Colossus has a high chance to use its extremely powerful machine gun. When this happens, you have to stay very close to it and dodge left or right continuously and charge when your shield is depleted. Even with the machine gun firing at you, you can still do it the way I did it here if you follow this tactic.
You can actually cheese this fight even more: if you take cover next to Reegar, you can use your charge on the colossus directly (I found that this only really works from cover)
I did circle the Colossus and charge whenever my barriers went down, but never had an issue with spawning Geth like that
Yea the original, like 3 of them spawned when you got to the colossal, but that was pretty much it
Me when I played as a Vanguard on insanity difficulty for the first time in ME2:
**Expectation**
Shepard: Biotic Charge + Claymore Shotgun = I'm sorry, Sovereign, but I'm the true VANGUARD of your destruction!
**Reality**
Shepard: I CAN'T REACH THE TARGET!!
Anyway, GG!!
"You exist because I allow it and you will end because we demand it."
Vanguard Shepard.
Soldier Shep: uses heavy weapons
Vanguard Shep: _is_ the heavy weapon
My experience as Vanguard: "I cAn'T gEt A lOcK!"
Yeah, that can happen. Make sure you have a clear line of sight and the target is not too close or far. You can Charge enemies in cover but only if they stand and even that doesn’t work sometimes. :)
That shiet is so annoying, man
I chose Sniper Rifles instead of the Claymore. You can use the zoomed scope to lock onto a target across the map and close the distance in a single charge.
When the Illusive Man saw this footage, he smiled and thought: "People said I was crazy for spending too much time, money and effort bringing her back. But these resources were well spent."
Colossus: Oh, you're coming closer to me?
Vanguard: Can't beat the shit out of you, otherwise.
Any Biotic is basically the jedi of mass effect
Geth: "Fuck you."
Vanguard Shep: "No, fuck *you*."
jesus christ, that’s Jason Bourne
The fact that you finish the Colossus off with Charge as it explodes into smithereens makes this video so much better.
Vanguard also known as krogan roleplay
It's a very generous class. Everyone gets a free headbutt. I hear it's a sign of respect in some cultures.
My best battle experience with a Vanguard Shepard is when I fought my clone in the Citadel DLC where it was absolute chaos because we were both just charging at each other. I think it’s the best boss battle in the Mass Effect series when you play as vanguard.
Mass Effect as a vanguard makes you The Flash with a flaming shotgun
Recently finished my ME2 as a Vanguard, and I agree that class is VERY fun and powerful. The downside is you can't do ^this^ until late game. Early game is very risky and frustrating at times. Late game comes around: "Oh "hi" Harbinger! *Slam!*
Yup, that is why Barrier is so great at the beginning. Still, you can have fun with Charge early on as well(you just need to focus on Charge and the passive class power), but the real fun starts after the Collector ship and Illium. :)
Exactly why I Love Vanguard Class, The Charge over everything, love it 💙
Been a Vanguard since the early days of Mass Effect. Didn't even realize you could charge boss-types. I'll sit in the corner now...
You just headbutted that colossus into submission
lol. :)
I personally enjoy how fast paced the gameplay is as a Vanguard in ME2 and 3.
I have the opposite experience. I'll kill the one guy I was charging towards, then I'm getting shot at by 5 of his friends and die in an instant. I prefer engineer. Drones and turrets are the best distractions for large groups of enemies.
You have to know your limits and plan carefully. Vanguard might look like brainless charging over and over, but it is actually careful planning and tactical charging coupled with split-second decision making. You have to be mindful of your environment, and count for every enemy on the battlefield. Otherwise, you will be easily exposed and annihilated. It is one of the most misunderstood class in the game.
As you can see it in the video, I almost never charge with a full shield. I always wait for my shield to be destroyed, then I charge. Charge restores my shield, so it is a waste to just charge with shields on. This also gives more time to look around and plan for enemy movement. With Hardened Shields and Redundant Field Generator, your shield can last for a while even on Insanity.
I also never charge at a cluster of enemies. That is the easiest way to be killed(never charge at a Pyro, nor a Pretorian either). You have to attack separated enemies and you have to do your best to isolate them from their groups with the help of your team and your own movement. For example when you go against a boss like a Prime, you have to get rid of all the other enemies first. Like in Tali's mission, when you are at the end of the ship, and you have a Prime, three Trooper and one Hunter. I always one-shot the troopers first while moving around constantly, then I kill the Hunter and finish with the Prime. I don't just charge at the Prime so the other four can rip me apart afterwards.
If you play it more tactically, you can have a lot of fun with it. :)
@@AKisHercegi agree
@@AKisHercegyou get a fan from brazil
@@AKisHerceg not long after I made that comment, I used the save editor to create a new game as an engineer (ME3). I've noticed that everything you said is correct and once you get up to level 15 or so, you can charge at legit any enemy. I've charged at an atlas with the executioner SMG and pistol (the only weapons you'll ever need) and I can down those things in less than a minute
@@BlaqMarketProduction
I think you'll find the only weapon you'll actually ever need is the silenced pistol from the Citadel DLC. It DELETES things.
I love the vanguard class! I kinda regret in my first playthrough of the series not having played this class because of how watered down it looked on ME1 (there it was kinda of a worse Soldier, and a more limited Adept) but now I always play as it in all playthroughs I do.
In Legendary the Vanguard is basically a superior Solider because they neutered immunity (it only lasts 6 seconds max with 45 sec cooldown). Barrier is now the best defensive power and adrenal burst helps double biotics usage which makes this class a stronger biotic than adept, at least while your low level and lack high cooldown amps.
I love Vanguards, Sentinels, and Adepts. Soldier just bores me as you just have ammo mods, dodgy concussive blast, and the slow down endurance thing. The biotics just let me shred things in superhero like fashion.
When shreding is concerned, Soldier is unmatched. You can do Adrenaline rush + Mattock and assassinate the Geth Colossus with the Disruptor and Inferno ammo. Soldier might be boring to some but damn if it aint effective.
I am biotic god
And with that one simple dialogue choice, you just killed Kal'Reegar
Not if you kill the Colossus fast enough before it starts turning its attention to Reegar - which is what happened here. :)
@@AKisHerceg Oh wow! I thought it happened automatically
@@MelchVagquest Nope. It really takes some time for the Colossus to kill him. Before he dies he will say "Now I got its attention!" or something and the next pulse hit will be the killing blow. You can even save him after he says that line, if you kill the Colossus while it's preparing to shoot.
But generally, even if you tell him to get the attention of the geth, it only matters if you stay at range. Otherwise the Colossus will always target you if you are in its line of sight, so Reegar is pretty safe even with a renegade approach, if you don't dilly-dally.
@@MelchVagquest I used to think that, but tried it on my latest playthrough as an Infiltrator, and it's a matter of time; if you kill the Colossus fast enough, Kal'reegar lives. Sometimes, Renegade is just a bit more of a daring option, than just an evil option.
@@thecircleoft.e.d2121 I play my Shepard as a Lawful Neutral with visible scars but not eroded. When I'm interacting with my crew, I usually lean towards Paragon, and when I'm dealing with enemies, Renegade all the way!
Vanguard is my favorite class, I get to unleash my inner korgan and just charge lol
My 2nd favorite is sentinel though
Did exactly this in my current Vanguard run. Fun times.
Sacrifising Kal Regar though. Id never do that for a flashy cutscene with rocket.
You don't sacrifice Reegar if you pick the renegade option. All you have to do is kill the Colossus fast enough - or get its attention. There will be a piece of dialogue prompting you to watch for him just before he gets killed by the Colossus. Something like "Oh, now I got its attention!" And the next shot from the Colossus will kill him(this happens if you are still not close enough to the Colossus for it to start paying attention to you). Not sure about the time limit, but yeah, you can't dilly dally. As you can see my Vanguard took care of the Colossus pretty fast, so he survived(you even get a cheerful "Raaghr!" from him once the thing is down, but you can't see it because the subtitles are not on).
I always make sure Reegar survives in all of my playthroughs, no matter what option I pick. :)
@@AKisHerceg Oh wow, another thing i didnt know, because never tried. Will do that on next playthrough. Considering a fight with colossus, the most interesting way i found and like to do while killing it - is bring Legion, get onto the balcony to the right from it, kill all the small geth and hack the geth with flamethrower. While Colossus almost always will keep shooting at me, geth just stands near it and continues to pour fire all over the tank, killing it fast and efficient. The only problem with this is the stupidest mast effect auto-balance system. I often can die 3-4 times while trying to make it to the colossus, and game considers the segment is too hard for you, and reduces the amount of enemies, often disabling respawn of flamethrower completely. I hate this thing with burning passion, each time feeling not as is "overcome challenge", but instead a game taking a pity on me.
@@CepbIuLOL The spawns are also time/wave and death based. Which is why if you get too close too fast, the Flamers will never show up.
In fact, in the original, if you charge directly at the Colossus from the front where I initially charged in this video(without going around), no enemies will show up at all and you will have a private boxing match with the thing.
You the master in this game! I can’t do this. Lol
Is this a NG+ ?
No, it is not NG+. I thin k I was around level 25 maybe? :)
Thanks to Vanguard class i've reached the 90% of paragon points and finally have recluted Morinth
I feel like the difficulty changed a lot from the old ME 2 to the lengendary, I would cut through any mission doing the same with vanguard, but now on insanity it seens to me that depending on the enemies you are facing that is much easier on ME 3 than ME 2 because of faster cooldowns and better melee.
Say you go between two mobs with that CD speed and face a geth flamethrower you will die because of stagger. On ME 2 I found Sentinel much faster to clear harder levels and that one is not one of the hardest I think.
Anyone else doesn't have the Legendary Edition and still play on the originals?
Ma girl Kelly looks ugly in LE, imo
@@raddox7 just got there and I was 'WHO IS THIS IMPOSTOR?!?'
Another question for you, is the Geth shield boost overridden by the charge shield boost? Just thinking if you could get the 10% damage boost then start charging like a maniac. Though I suppose you are in such close range all the time that you lose shields and therefor the damage buff as well. Idk just skipping rocks trying to think of an interesting build
As far as I know, the boost from Charge goes on top of the boost from any shield boosting powers.
@@AKisHerceg Ill try and do some testing and ill get back if i can find anything cool
Ive tested it. Geth shield boost adds 250 shields, and then charge adds 250 on top of that, leaving you with 500 bonus shield for 4 seconds post charge. If you choose bonus damage for geth shield, it will give you 437 bonus shields and more damage. But its not working well with Vanguard im afraid, because enemies still can easily crack that bubble, and after its gone - the bonus damage aswell. You will have to reapply geth shield again, and it has TREMENDOUS 12 or 9 seconds cooldown, disabling your charge while it... re... reCHARGE. Recharge, get it?
@@CepbIuLOL I see the vision
@@CepbIuLOL I only like GSB with the Engi because it receives a lot of cooldown bonus from Engi skills, and increases your weapon dmg, which is something the Engi can use, especially early on(it can also synergize well with the Sentinel's Tech Armor though).
Barrier is much better for the Vanguard because that one receives cooldown from biotic power bonuses. And it can be a life saver when you just "Can't get a lock!!!".
Your opinion on Scimitar?
Just finished Insanity diff with
Inferno Ammo, Squad Cryo Ammo [have them use Tempest / Shuriken]
Use it to strip shields/armor, then let allies freeze enemies
Considering using Wide Charge instead of heavy charge on my next run
Also had Grunt + Kasumi the whole way - CryoAvenger+CryoTempest
Scimitar does 1.5x bonus damage against shields and barriers, Inferno ammo takes care of the armor, and then you can zip around shattering frozen enemies as allies freeze them one by one
only way i died is if i got shot by 7 dudes [7 seems to be one too many to handle], "CANT TARGET THEM", or heavies where i didn't slow down lul
I don't like its low damage, but it is good for striping shields and for small mobs. It also works well with Cryo ammo(if you don't use your squad to freeze)because it has a high fire rate.
My favorite thing though with the Vanguard is to explode into an enemy and take care of it with one shot. Sadly, the Scimi can't do that. Only the Claymore or a charged Geth Plasma Shotgun, so I like using them instead. Plus the Scimi is a pain against large enemies like Heavy Mechs and Primes, because it's just so weak against armor, even with Inferno ammo. Sure you can keep pulling the trigger, but it is harder to position while firing than getting one massive shot in(the Claymore can take away massive chunks of armor from those mini bosses), and being able to side-step comfortably to avoid the machinegun fire. But that is just for my personal playstyle, otherwise the Scimi is a massive upgrade over the Katana.
@@AKisHerceg I'll agree stronger enemies are a sore spot for scimitar, but I find the slower fire rate and capacity of the other shotguns to be too limiting, myself
I found success with Squad cyro ammo with tempest smgs to pait with an inferno scimitar. Strip the defenses of two or three enemies, then charge away. Generally for shots or so are fast enough to strip the Shields and armor of an enemy before you lose barrier yourself, and then your teammates use their fast firing submachine guns to freeze enemies, just in time for you to charge into another enemy we're the same one if it's particularly tanky
Inferno Scimitar is like having overload and incinerate in one gun, and it has the ammo to deal with mobs in one charge cooldown. They get stunned by the shotgun blasts as well so it's not completely opening you up to counterattacks
If I get a chance I'll stream some gameplay footage and share a clip
Does anyone know if Charge detonates other biotic abilites? As in, if you have an enemy pulled into the air and then charge on them it does that biotic wombo combo?
Not in ME2, but in ME3, yes. In ME2 this tactic also works though, because of the amount of force inflicted on the target. It would probably fly out of the map lol.
@@AKisHerceg appreciate the info, thank you

This is Insanity difficulty on Legendary edition? Did they change something? Because I literally just played this part last night, as a Vanguard, on Hardcore difficulty, on the original version of ME2 and I feel like I couldn't take anywhere near that many shots before my Shields where out and I was taking health damage...
Yeah, but not only that: I have the upgrade that lets my shields take 20% less damage and even Emergency Shielding that will give you a chance to restore your shields when it’s destroyed. I have a full video about the build, feel free to check it out. :)
Well, shit. That’s impressive.
Vanguard is th emost fun of them all allright. But imagine this fight having Disruptor ammo (Squad ammo from Zaeed)...
This doesn't seem like insanity difficulty, you should've died long time ago running in like that lol😂
2:36. It is Insanity. :)
Slow pace actually makes you target enemies more accurately. Running around like a headless chicken would just get you killed.
Can you make a build guide video about vangurd?? I want to see which skills did you use..which pistol, shotgun, armor etc.
Good video by the way...
Sure! I am currently making one about the first game. The build guide for the second game will come right after that. :)
Dang may have to replay masseffect 2 as a vanguard darn them for patch out the money glitch out of mass 2
Yup, Vanguard is definitely worth another playthrough. It offers very fun gameplay. In my opinion, it is the most badass class in the game! :)
I still prefer vanguard in me 3, this version cooldown is way slower due to no weight 200% cooldown. and no nova and chain biotic explosion. you should try play sentinel shotgun with tech armor assault armor(this is your nova when ur armor blow up lol). its the me 2 version of the me 3 op vanguard build lol.
I already made a video about that "Aggressive" Sentinel. :) That is my other favorite character along with the Vanguard.
Woah
i like how my placing of all abilities on quick-use is same as your's, let me guess do you have nova on 1 in mass effect 3?
Nope, because I wanted to play ME3 without Nova as a classic Charger Vanguard. :)

In the third? I haven't reached it with my Vanguard yet, but I tried it with my Sentinel and it looks like it's still there. :)
I know Andromeda sucks, but play the vanguard built is literally play as a biotic god, especially with Nova and Charge, pays off for the horrible game that Andromeda is.
I just use the M-920 Cain for this fight :)

I like Infiltrator as well, but there is just so much fun in exploding into someone's face and blasting them away with a shotgun. :)
@@AKisHerceg I get that I love the feeling when harbinger pops in only have his barrier and armour erased with a single round. Sniper and shot gun are both absolutely beautiful for the opposite reasons.

This is an imported face - I created the face in ME1. I can't modify the imported face in ME2, only in ME3 so I have no idea sadly. However, in ME1 it is the 15th Eyeshadow Color. In the face code it is the G in the DKG part. You can see my face code in Mass Effect 1 in my "Violent" Vanguard ME2 Style" video and you can see the face code for ME2 in my "An UNSTOPPABLE Vanguard" video.
Maybe there you can see which one I have in ME2. :)
I don’t understand why they give you inferno and cyro ammo instead of warp ammo. Also no barrier power but I guess your shields is the barrier. I wish I can replace cryo with warp. The shotguns are terrible too imo compared to the other games
Inferno ammo is amazing. If you can't kill the enemy with one shot, the added fire damage will finish them off. It also makes your weapon super effective against armor. Plus it has a huge chance to cause panic which will make them helpless while you reload and blast them away with your next shot.
Cryo ammo is also great to freeze them and then explode them by Charging into them.
Warp ammo is a special power because it is too powerful for you to have it as a base power.
I love the shotguns in the second game: 4 out of 5 is great to use(Scimitar is fast, Geth Plasma hits hard, chargeable, and has great range, Eviscerator has good damage and good range and Claymore inta-kills everything except bosses at close range). Only the Katana is garbage the rest can work very well if you use them well.
@@AKisHerceg I agree besides the katana part, in the original I hated the started weapons in 2, I’m convinced they were upgraded a bit because I was murdering people with biotic charge and the katana in 2 legendary edition
Well, for me, there is no point in using the Katana after the prologue, since you can get your hands on the Eviscerator super fast. Which outclasses the Katana in every way possible. Better damage, range, accuracy, spare ammo, bonus multipliers etc. Kata has more shots, 5 instead of 3, but the Evi usually blows away everything with one or two shots anyway.
Still, because of my bad memories with the Katana, I did not spend too much time using it, but if you say it's better now, I might give it another "shot". :)
ME2 skill system was very limiting unfortunately
Absoutely love Vanguard in ME2 and ME3. Been considering it for my Insanity run now that I'm in ME2 but I'm a Lil scared.
Vanguard on insanity is the way forward,it's the way of real shepard. In ME3 if you use correct armor that is reducing recharge time and equip no gun to further reduce recharge time you can spam charge & nova with no delay. it's the best fun this game has to offer and you can complete the whole game that way except for the little part where you have to fight colossus outside of game area. i think it was in ME3. but as I recall there is a black star or whatever it's called neaarby
@@an-cx1ho the path of biotic god.
Ooo need to do a vanguard, what was the build for the endless barrier?
Charge refills your Barrier after every "jump". I went with Heavy Charge at the end to get that nice 100% shield strength. Went with Inferno ammo and I specced as a Destroyer for more weapon damage to make my Claymore hit harder. These are the only 3 trees that have been maxed by the time of this fight. :)

Me : vanguard charge = ded till rage at that point I just shoot things
Yup, I love the Vanguard. :)
Charge is incredibly fun, even if it is indeed buggy sometimes. I kind of figured out how can I charge with very minimal "can't get a lock" problems. You have to be in mid-range and it is best if you don't have any object between your target and you. Don't be too close, don't be too far.
I love my Soldier and Infiltrator, but playing as a Vanguard is such a blast to play. It is definitely a high risk class to play and has a much higher learning curve than a Soldier class, but once you get a handle on playing a Vanguard, it is a blast to play.
Don't give up! It felt to me that there were certain missions and fights that were designed, solely, to murder Vanguards, those fights are where you ignore charge and use your other powers and backup weapons.

Because you can spam on single ability over and over?
That is how you keep the combat flowing with a Vanguard.
Being a Vanguard is more than what it looks like. You require fast thinking and good reaction time. If you don't have those, it can be a very frustrating experience.
As for spamming abilities: How about a Drone Engi who keeps spamming exploding Drone? How about an Adrenaline Soldier who keeps spamming Adrenaline? How about an Infiltrator who keeps spamming Tactical Cloak? How about an Adept with Reave or Warp? How about a Sentinel with Tech Armor spamming?
Spamming the same ability is pretty much part of the ME2 and ME3 experience. In ME1 things were different since there, powers had independent cooldown periods. In ME2 and 3, there is simply no reason not to use your most devastating skill when the universal cooldown ends. Unless you want to nerf yourself.
