      My guess is that he is using the Verus Engineering oil sump prototype. A better sump is the real answer.

    Excited to see the solution soon. Seeing the oil PSI stay consistent even with the elevation changes at T2 and T3 is real exciting.
    I hope that having your old engine out of the car for evaluation was pretty instrumental in getting a good solution. The loss won't be in vain.

      Thanks for watching. In the last (aborted) lap there is a small drop in T2 but it’s still a big improvement over stock or even over the best baffles out there. The blown engine is being used for science!

    🎉so much improvement over stock oil pressure. So much stabilized oil pressure. Is your final testing done for this solution? Looking forward to hear good news from you. Thank you so much again.       We’d like to put a second iteration of the pan into service before taking it to market, but I’m still waiting on that iteration to be produced. As it is I think this product has enough of an improvement to be viable, but there are some low hanging improvements we’ve identified.

    Looking forward to your detailed engineering analysis of FA24 oiling 'fixes'. Whatever you are running (?accusump?) appears to have stabilized things. Please share your findings when you have sufficient data.

    Nice driving as always. What video overlay system are you using? Looks more useful than Aim's or they've made improvements since last year??

      I’m using RaceRender with some custom gauge overlays. The result is good, but it’s definitely not as easy to use or as fast as some other options, like RaceChrono.

    Nice driving, congrats on the PB. Any reason your are using 0W40 vs 5w30 that others are using on track? Are you overfilling by 1/2 to full quart of oil?

      I would call this a 1/2 L overfill but it might be slightly more. I think I could eliminate the small drop at turn 2 with a full 1 L overfill but I was trying not to just immediately to that until I proved it was necssary.

      As for 0W40, I was seeing some nominal pressures down into the 50s in hot weather and I don’t want to be swapping oils while testing so I can control variables. It’s not perfect though since the viscosity is affected by oil and temperature, so ultimately it’s not going to be reasonable to compare winter laps to summer laps anyway. I now believe some of the low pressures I was seeing in the summer were becasue my previous AEM sensor was not responding linearly to heat. Ultimately I’d like to switch my current sensor to a sealed media sensor from Honeywell but I will probably wait to do that until testing for this product is done.

      Yes sir, no accumulator involved. I don’t have a good baseline for Sonoma but I’m going to be able to compare with another driver who did a similar lap time. Hopefully can pull lap with a similar sector time through T2.

    Great lap. On the audio front, it is expensive, but I know both Savagegeese and Matt Farah use zoom recorders for audio capture. Apparently the built-in mics are quite good, and you can track your external audio to a separate audio track in the recording that can make the editing process easier.

      I just got a Zoom actually but I wasn’t able to run it this weekend. Ideally it would be nice to still run the audio into the GoPro so I don’t have the sync the two sources separately. I just placed an order for a 2 smaller, lower mass lav mics and I’m going to run a splitter to feed each mono signal into the stereo headphone port. Next time I’ll test it on the freeway before subjecting everyone to bad audio!

    Sonoma just got better. Tire wear is generally more even than any of the other local tracks, brakes have sufficient time to cool in between heavy brake zones, it's a nice facility, and pressures hold up well! haha.

      @@900BRZ Yes! As usual you're driving cleanly. The biggest advice I can give you based on your video is that you're turning-in way too early; making corners tighter than necessary. There's no early turn-in at Sonoma.
      Also some maintenance throttle going up through T1 can actually feel more stable than being completely off the throttle.
      I know this is a new track to you so no rush - be safe and learn over time!

    awesome laps! as for lav mic - if it's plugged to gopro - try different the audio settings. I also found out that putting the mic inside the trunk seal, hold with a painters tape, muffles extreme high sounds and keeps it from wind noise.

      Interesting. Where exactly are you mounting it?
      Going to have to try some different locations and see what works best. I’ve been wanting to run a lav mic in the engine bay as well, but I guess I should figure out the external one first.

      @@900BRZ when you open the trunk, on the lower edge (where bumper is) the seal is rather wide and it splits in half - there is a groove. You can squeeze the lav mic inside it - just wrap it with some tape so the rubber seals dont rub on it and make squeeking sound.

      I’m using the Simpson Hybrid S head restraint with OEM 3-point seat belt system. I’ve heard of that Schroth 4-point harness which is designed to avoid submarining but at this point I’m kinda in the 6-point or stock mindset. I could have my mind changed though.

      @@900BRZ thanks. ah yes, the simpson is a nice alternative device. I couldn't tell from the video. I share the same vision and don't want to use it without rollover protection, but would like the hans protection, and the extra holding. I have to use knee pads with the stock seats and long legs.

      ​@@dscpat Yeah I can recommend the Simpson. I have a friend who hit the wall at T6 Laguna without a H&N device and then later with one an he experienced less whiplash with it.

      Nope, still using the prototype part. The dips at T7 are expected from low RPM. At T2, we have a small dip, but it’s a lot better than the stock setup and also better than any baffle we’ve tested. Not perfect, but much improved. We may be able to eek out a little more performance in another iteration.

      Yeah it’s worse! Tried a new lav mic mounting solution and I think it gets moved back into a more turbulent area on the rear bumper. Going to have to do some more testing.
