    I am thinking on getting the Ronin for my challenger .457 with the power valve. I go 600fpe with six shots. I love the setup but she's too loud. I hope the Ronin will help without making her too long. took the barrel guard off as well.

  • @davidhagerman7165
    @davidhagerman7165 Před 5 měsíci

    I have a Ronin which is used on the Gauntlet SL30 and the AEA Challenger 30 cal it had an internal screen and felt failure. It has had around 1000 rounds shot through it. The sound change so it was dismantled and found at the muzzle end the air blow a hole through the internal screen and move it to the exit end compressing into an accordion. The screen under the remaining felt was force into the center. NO bullet clipping found. The Ronin need and extended chamber at the the muzzle (entery) to take the air volume.
    I have ordered the Yokozuna currently waiting on arrival.

    I've got the Gauntlet.25. The loudest, not backyard friendly, $220 rifle I own. I tried a $200 Koi which failed at 108db+ next to the house. Of course throw a bigger $$ DFL would solve the problem, no? Me looking for a $50 solution like my TDK which is very backyard friendly on my second loudest cheap rifle, the Disco .22 at 96db. When neighbors hear sounds like a phonebook being beaten with a broomstick they tend to take notice. Nice rifle with YOKO! Thanks..

    🤠 Hi, it would be helpful to have more reliable Decibel (DB) measurements to compare sound reduction. Thank you.

    • @TheDollarSportsman
      @TheDollarSportsman  Před 7 měsíci +3

      Definitely; decibel measurements we’ve learned are extremely unreliable except in very specific, controlled environments. Every time we’ve tried to do them otherwise have resulted in really unreliable results.

    • @travelcompass591
      @travelcompass591 Před 7 měsíci +2

      🤠 That's too bad, “because a standard measurement system is needed”. Otherwise how do you compare rifles. I can’t buy ten rifles to “listen” to them and decide which one to buy. Maybe we - the customers - should ask the manufacturers to publish sound measurements data the same way as they publish the FPS and FPE per caliber. As calibers got bigger and PCP rifles power increased, sound is a real issue, they are too loud. We need technology improvement. Meanwhile sound measurement has become a needed data in the specifications list.@@TheDollarSportsman

      It still gives the person watching the video a more relative perspective. You as the shooter in person can hear the difference but the viewers can't. If us, the CZcams viewers all could be there in person, then it would be a different story. Please do this test again with a decimal reader. What could it hurt?@@TheDollarSportsman

    The Ronin is an odd one. I think the little DFL "FX" makes my G30 quieter than the Ronin. But the Ronin works better on my AEA. Never could figure that one out.

    • @TheDollarSportsman
      @TheDollarSportsman  Před 7 měsíci

      I mean it works great, but the Yokozuna def has an edge. I wish video mics could hear what I do when shooting :P

      @@TheDollarSportsman I put a Ronin on my SL 30 and while it did reduce the report somewhat I was not satisfied with it as I shoot in my backyard every day. So then I got the extension from Donny , which added six more inches to the already 6 inch long Ronin, and didn’t make very much of a difference, and definitely affected the point of impact. It was a lot of weight on the end of the barrel. So I just ordered a Yokozuna, I hope I’m spelling it correctly and it’ll be here Tuesday of next week and I got the quick detach adapters and I’ll be using it on my Airacuda Max in 30 caliber, the SL, 30 and a 30 caliber Factor BP. Of course, I’ll let everyone know my opinion of the results.

    What do you mean about "seasoning" the barrel?

    • @TheDollarSportsman
      @TheDollarSportsman  Před 7 měsíci

      The process of shooting a few hundred rounds through a new barrel is often called “seasoning” or “lead-ing in” and refers to the coating of lead that a new projectile type will leave in a barrel. Often this process will improve the accuracy of the barrel with that specific projectile (until of course it becomes actually dirty).

    • @sandyschupper8401
      @sandyschupper8401 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@TheDollarSportsman With due respect to you, and no offense intended, “seasoning“ in air rifle barrel is a bunch of baloney. The rifling is designed for the special purpose it serves. Occluding, some or all of the parts of the rifling is going to be detrimental, that’s common sense. otherwise consider using a different size pellet if you want a “tighter“ fit. Most manufacturers, including the ones who make guns that I have namely Air Venturi , Hatsan, JTS, Benjamin, all recommend cleaning the barrel every 200 to 500 rounds. I actually do it more frequently than that, and I have excellent results in the air guns from the manufacturers I mentioned, but different strokes for different folks, and the subject of barrel cleaning and barrel “seasoning“ is subject to very much debate, as I mentioned, I get excellent results cleaning it as frequently as I do

      It’s 2024 I’ve learned from several attempts with apps and high end sound level mics that they never accurately show real levels, ever. 😎
      But I would know that because I’m the one actually making the content.

      I was at the Utah Airguns range yesterday working with the owner and a couple of other shooters to fine tune a new rifle; from behind me, one says to another “I need a shooting bag that makes my guns look that good.” I asked, “How does a bag make your gun look good?” to which the owner replied “He’s talking about your arms” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

    While you still can hear the difference, listening to it through video still does not do it's justice. I feel when sound tests are being conducted, you need a decimal reader to truly see the difference on video. Please do this test again with a decimal reader.

      Those of us who have done these tests with a decimal reader know they suck just as much unfortunately :P; they only ever work in extremely controlled environments. Ive tried them and never had a good result.
