I like how your tone while explaining the controls was like you were confessing to heresy in 40k.
Bumper-jumper is the OG that made me realize the power of customizing controls.
That simple change genuinely made me perform like twice as well back in the Halo days, aiming, moving, shooting and jumping not competing over any fingers/thumbs is huge, also made Gandhi hopping more fluid.
Not going to lie, I'm a little surprised that Bro "Zephyr is underrated" zime didn't mention the frame that's immune to projectiles, barely has to aim cause of the ease of grouping enemies, and has a unique form of traversal that can lower the skill level required to move around quickly. Xaku is the goat and Kullarvo is an easy pick, just wondering what made Rhino beat the birb
Rhino is very easy to use and to get on phone and Zephyrs aerial playstyle is much harder on phones are the main reasons

I use similar controller keybinds to yours, and I could never go back tbh. Having access to one button press abilities via the d-pad is so nice
That's why I love my Steam Deck. I assign each skill to one of the rear paddle buttons and never worry about picking the wrong skill. That said, I may have to try bumper jumper since not being able to aim and jump has been really hard to adjust to coming from M/KB
Yeah I can’t lie having tried it today I may have to change my binds on console. The convenience is kind of insane
I have honestly never thought about using the dpad for that.
I'm actually genuinely surprised by how well they've developed the mobile port of warframe. I thought for sure it be an abysmal mess of lag and stutters. I mean on older phones I'm sure it is. I have an iphone 11 and i get somewhat not great fps, but it still runs consistently (not a lot of stutters or screen tearing). Just the fact that it works without frying my phone is kind of crazy to me lol.
Also the movement is obviously very awkward at least at first. But even then the control schemes they have for the touch screen is actually fairly well put together, considering how many keybinds and button presses warframe typically requires. I honestly didn't expect that ps4 controllers would work with mobile but im so happy to hear that it does. Although ive never played warframe with controller before, i just have a ps4 controller that ive used with my pc for games like dark souls, hollow knight, dead cells, etc.
Funny those controllers are all sold out. I guess that’s what happens when Warframe goes mobile.

For anyone curious, if you can survive on rhino for 40 seconds, you get enough energy to cast again. which should be easy as it also makes you immune to status(like magnetic damage that drains your energy)
I am immediately going to try that controller layout as a full-time controller player that actually sounds really good

I’m honestly surprised to see I’m not the only one who set my controller layout to a bumper jumper setup. When I’m on my steam deck, I set my abilities to ABXY, and set those usual functions to the paddles, so the only difference between mine and your setup Zime is I can move when using abilities but not look, while you can look but not move. Good enough compromise for being able to look move and jump at the same time on a controller
I had some limited play time with warframe on my deck even though it's primarily why I bought the deck lol, never considered putting jump on the bumper but gonna have to give it a go I have my abilities mapped to the 4 buttons on the back (I guess they're called paddles lol)

i have a near similar controller setup. i have melee and jump switched compared to this, i will try out the bumper jump when i have time. i actually recommend putting your first ability on the right thumb stick. most abilities in warframe that require you to tag a specific enemy are 1st abilities, this helps with aiming those. D-pad abilities over the ability menu is the better way to go generally imo.
Bumper jumper is absolutely the way to play warframe on a controller. Even better, if you're controller has paddles, those pair perfectly with it.
I have never play warframe on a controller but your controller setup seems really good, honestly makes me wonder whats default lol.
default is gear and misc commands on the d pad, jump/melee/action (reload)/swap on face buttons (ABXY), toggle (hold?) to ability mode (uses ABXY) with one of the bumpers, crouch/dash with the other. aim with left trigger, fire with right.
Honestly I think it’s Gauss because even though he might not be as effective necessarily in plenty of situations, I don’t think too many people will play a ton of high level content and mobile will mostly be early and mid game players, so having CC immunity on the 2 is good for AoE weapons and his sprint speed makes it so you can get around at a moderate speed with just moving because plenty of people won’t like bullet jumping on a phone.

Bumper Jumper is fine and dates back to around Halo 3. Never learned it but a friend swore by it
Honestly I'm going to use this whole controller setup except switching A and X. It's reaaaally important to have jump/crouch somewhere where you can still access the other buttons.

I usually use Inaros (with Gloom) for when I’m just playing and doing most things, even Steelpath if I’m really really really in the mood to do it with an incarnon weapon (like Lautum).
Game played well on my iPhone 11 and Backbone (I have a quick video on it). However it takes up a good % of storage and sanity on my little iPhone 11 64gb so I opted for the switch version in the meantime.

The default settings on Controller is what I've stuck with. Besides the shoulder swap feature I put that on dpad because I rarely touch it anyway

Warframe is the only game that I use bumper jump, thank you MR7 test back when PS4 came out. With the movement being top tier in Warframe, jumping and being able to look around to hose down some infested with bullets is a must!
Ok I was initially on the this is cursed train. But I loaded up mobile and tried it and ironically it’s pretty good. I may genuinely prefer this over the ability menu.
In my switch my dpad has one hot key for archwing, and the others are for things like waypoints, viewing mission progress, and opening the gear wheel. Things I can live without more or less.
Something weird I’ve noticed though is the “-/back” button doesn’t seem to work at all. I have it mapped to Focus and nothing happens when I press it.
please review reinforcing stomp rhino, namely with nourish subsumed over his 1 for the energy to always heal your iron skin with the stomp plus stacking the two best buffs in the game together with eachother
Yea, Xaku. It sucked when he came out, but after the rework, bam, man, exactly as stated; he is insanely powerful. He clears everything on normal chart, and with minor effort, he clears SP as well. Would deffo recommend him, right next to Kullervo.
I wonder if I could set up transference to be pushing both joysticks at the same time. I only use it here and there as needed.
I play on ipad and theres no performance issues, just bugs that make it difficult to play/adance through story.
Examples, I can't progress through duvuri because the tutorial requires you to press a button that doesnt exist on my screen. Theres also no charge attack button so you have to do a streeght figher combo to blow up your xoris. I can't tap on a mod to remove it, so every time I want to adjust a build I have to remove all mods and start from scratch, if I don't have enough space to swap the mod. It's dam near impossible to direct message someone since tapping on chat will click on the name at the top of the chat. So you have to use the slider to put the name at the top of the chat which is incredible hard sometimes given how fast the chat moves and how sensitive the slider is.
The game runs well, it just needs a lot Qol and hud improvements
So, i wanted to try the bumper jumper controller setup, and...well, the issue I have with it is my own fault.
It's fantastic if you can't hit the multiple buttons (as I play on PS, it's R1+Cross/Square/Triangle/Circle, for X-Box it'd be RB+A/X/Y/B) whilst keeping movement going...but my right hand is halfway around the controller as standard, so I don't have that issue.
I mean, I'm certain if I work at it hard enough I can make it work for me, easy...but it's to solve a problem I've never had. Definitely hope more can find this, though, as I know my wife along with many others who do struggle with chained inputs; any game that lets you remap the whole way you interact with said game is someone who knows how accessibility works.
As for the mobile port...you know, I've only played one game that has ported to mobile as well as Warframe has. That's Path of Titans, and though the controls are sound there they haven't yet been able to keep the visual fidelity like Warframe did. And DE just made this; Path's been on mobile for a believe a few years now. Crazy stuff, man. Great video, Brozime, glad to see DE knows what they're doing.
I just got back into the game after a long break and i was originally on PS4. I’m having a really hard time with controller layout on my xbox controller. I tried doing a similar layout like this with D-pad abilities like i used to have but i have to sacrifice waypoints or my minimap or my gearwheel because i just don’t have enough buttons.
Idk who would complain about your controller set-up, bumper jumper + d-pad abilities are just so much more intuitive than defaults for a game like Warframe

I don't use a controller often..but when I do...I also use the d-pad casts. But I use "X/🔳" for melee, not A/✖️

Abilities on DPad.... I've been using the regular press and LB and Select YBAX. I will try it out cause I honestly hate the lag I have when doing the latter.

This is something crazy to see control wise. I have back buttons on my controller so I haven’t had to make these sort of moves. But it’s an interesting scheme.
As someone that also plays FFXIV, 100% warframe needs a keybind for the ability menu. The R1 button on my controller is already stiff from use from all of my pings in Apex and ability uses in Warframe lol
I already put spells on my Dpad for FF since most spells have a cast time which means you can't move anyways.
Imo would not be unreasonable to put ability menu on the same button as ADS if you could, weird edge cases like snipers notwithstanding
2:17 so I use a steamdeck but I have to say I just can't get use to a controller, if I forced myself to try to get my head around it I could but I just have this problem with shooters on a controller it just feels so clunky.
Still mad we can't use crouch/slide/roll combo on PC.

I personally use a controller with paddles bound to the face buttons so I never have to take off either of my thumbs off the sticks and I am way too spoiled ngl
some people might go "uhh you have no reload button?" and to that i say "context action includes reload"
What does it mean by context action though? I tried tapping every button in the simulacrum to try and see if i can manually reload, it just ends up auto reloading after a few seconds.
What am i doing wrong?
@@DarkaiXeno hopefully mobile has this option, but there should be a setting in i believe controls or somewhere that says "context action includes reload" with this it means that when you press the context action button (your button you use to interact with stuff, such as to open a coop door or access a hacking pannel) it will reload your gun.
if you have that setting turned on and the game still won't reload when you press it, that then seems like a Warframe mobile bug
@@phoenixrose1995 oooh i think thats the problem then. We do have a context button, but the problem is the button itself actually stays hidden until you get to reviving someone or interacting with an object so theres no way to actually use it to reload

I haven't tried warframe on controller so I have no idea what the default binds are and hearing that the skills aren't just on the d-pad is just ???? Why would they be anywhere else??
I had also always questioned how someone would make use of warframe's parkour on a controller and this bumper jumper setup seems like the only reasonable option. I'd feel that not being able to move, aim, crouch, and jump at the same time repeatably and comfortably would just make the game vastly worse to play.

I just broke my left bumper the other week by bullet jumping to much only reason I figured it out was because of how slow I got 😂
Let me just say as far as a mobile game warframe is, objectively (7+ years of mobile experience) warframe is passible but knowing whats out on the market and knowing the potential warframe can get to, it still needs a bit more optimization before I could even consider reccommending to friends. To start, there are multiple bugs going on when using some buttons in tandem with eachother.
For example, if u use the crouch immediately into the jump button, your screen immediately skyrockets upwards which could drastically fuck up gameplay.
There are other buttons that are missing. Mobile players are gonna be stuck on the quest where u have to use the xoris and detonate it… because theres no button u can use to detonate glaives at all. Theres not even a heavy attack button.
From there, theres a ton of UI that feels bloated and needs fixing, or otherwise needs its own optimized mobile interface that makes interactions way more smooth. And the chat needs better ways to scroll through, and links need to be fixed so you can properly click on them.
Ironclad setup for Rhino is outdated imo, 2 mod slots taken for what you really don't need, with overguard gate and shield gate you're fine when iron skin drops from damage and then you can just recast iron skin.

the game is pretty much unplayable on my iphone 13. I figured I would at least be able to go through certain missions but the framerate is way too inconsistent to be able to play this game.
Best mobile frame imo is wisp. easy for positioning and top tier cc and healing

Yeah I was just thinking he'd be a good idea for newer players since the prime is unvaulted, the normal is very easy to get and most importantly he doesn't require them to put in a ton of investment.

Anyone worried about host migration, fortunately, it's been said that mobile hosts are only chosen if absolutely necessary. I was wondering if upscaling is available to mobile and if it affects the performance much compared to the loss in visual fidelity.

i was hosted by an iPhone user for an archon hunt yesterday and I had a good run, asked him how it felt and he said it feels similar to his Xbox because he's on controller and is using the same wifi he does for his Xbox.

It’s because it’s easier for them to develop the iOS version. There’s only a handful of chips and hardware configs on iOS vs the sea of Android chips and configs.
Secondly, on average, iPhone users spend more money/time on apps.
That’s just the reality of the situation. Has been the case for a long time.
Building for iOS first just makes sense, because you hit both phones and tablets. Android tablets... exist (They still suck to this day).

Speaking as an app dev, it's way, way easier to optimize for iOS than for android. There's a lot of stuff about developing for the Apple ecosystem that is a complete pain, but getting your app to run well on the five or six devices that will comprise 98% of the iOS usage is not one of them. It's not at all surprising that the iOS one was done first. Even if they started work on both versions at the same time, that's still the result I would have expected.
Unrelated to the actual video (which is very useful), but I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your commitment to using the correct pronouns for frames.
