One day you will realize how much you have changed and will really appreciate not being perfect at shading from the start, so better not stress too much about it.
Take one step at a time and soon you'll have taken 10, the next 90 will be much easier and looking back, you'll wonder "how did I end up here already?" You stop counting the steps and go forth naturally
Sometimes you have the energy to run, sometimes you gotta go slower. Sometimes there's a hill, but after there's a downhill and you find out how much strength you got from the tough and rewarding path.
you got this, sometimes it's better to not get stuck thinking about where you are, but where you are headed

What I really like about this video is that it really shows you the full process. And it also shows you the scale of the image. A lot of instructionals tend to skip or lump together too many steps and it makes the whole thing hard to comprehend.
Or they give you too much detail, to the point that you're learning to replicate a particular image.
But this gets the good points, and tells you why they're good.

Spaghetti hair is about as valid as the bs argument that "art is subjective"
No, art is not subjective as art can be boiled down to a list of techniques and qualities. You can tell the caliber of the artist based on their art.
Spaghetti hair is a technique used by novice artists who don't know how to properly draw hair. So in the same way, Spaghetti hair *IS NOT* valid, unless as the previous guy said: that is the desired effect.
I understand not wanting to tell people the art they enjoy is bad or not wanting to call art you enjoy yourself bad, but some art just is. Acting as if there's never been a bad musician, movie director, author, etc is just sheer stupidity. You wouldn't see a 5yo's crayon drawing on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

@@JayArr96 I would still say art is subjective but in a sense of what meaning you find in it or what idea your expressing.
Techniques and guidelines (not rules because it sounds ridged) are ways to make or improve a desired affect or for more efficiency. Like with a full illustration you have to know where your light sources are coming from to apply shadow properly.

This is great and I love the tips, but I just wanna remind y'all that there is, technically, no wrong way to draw something. As long as it gets the point across you've done it right.

Please know that you cannot draw or do art WRONG. There is no right way to draw something. You draw the way you want, every way is perfect. Whether it’s stick people or highly detailed bodies, everything is right and accepted.
Edit: Guys. I get it if you don’t agree with what I say. But I honestly couldn’t care less!
In order to make someone better at art, you don’t discourage them for drawing differently. You encourage them to try another way or say something like “There could be a better way for you to draw this!” Instead of just saying “You’re not drawing this right. It’s wrong. Draw it right. This is the right way, you’re doing the wrong way”.
Every person’s way of drawing will be different than others. There will never be a wrong or right way. Nobody is able to decide what the “right” way to draw hair is, and what the “wrong” way to draw hair is. There’s ways to IMPROVE your art but there’s no way for your art to be incorrect in style.

This is actually... terrible advice. Yes, art is subjective and one can find meaning and beauty in one thing where another may not but, there are still better techniques than others to achieve a desired result. You can't toss out decades, even centuries of art principles that obviously work because "there's no way to do art wrong." The truth is, if you want to become a professional artist, you're going to have to learn the best practices and learn to do art "RIGHT."
