- Dr. Chris Knobbe is an ophthalmologist and Associate Clinical Professor Emeritus, formerly of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, in Dallas, Texas. He is also the founder and president of Cure AMD Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention of vision loss from age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Dr. Knobbe has a deep interest in general nutrition, particularly as it relates to chronic degenerative disease, though his primary area of expertise is with the disorder AMD. AMD is the leading cause of irreversible vision loss and blindness in people over the age of 65, currently affecting approximately 196 million people worldwide.
Dr. Knobbe’s research efforts and revolutionary hypothesis for the nutritional basis of AMD have resulted in a published scientific paper, a book - Ancestral Dietary Strategy to Prevent and Treat Macular Degeneration - a website, CureAMD.org, and a second book currently in the making. Knobbe’s current research focuses substantially on omega-6 seed oil consumption as a major unifying driver of the chronic degenerative diseases of civilization, including AMD.
This presentation is explosive! Overdue! Thank you, God for finally stepping in and gifting us this doctor. A message of TRUTH and hope. This doctor truly living up to his profession’s true purpose of saving lives. Live long and prosper, Dr Knobbe🙏🏽🙂❤
Interesting but more to this then presented. What needs to be incl is effect of the ‘bliss factor’ (precise combo of sugar, fat and salt) in processed food. Also key role of many chemicals incl pharma drugs and plastics as endocrine disrupters thru environment > food systems > on the human body. Edit: do see oils incl olive oil? Intake for red meat and animal proteins in the US esp needs to also be extended incl cancer levels.
@@jmc8076sugar is fine. I brush my teeth with it. Excellent results. Don't eat buckets of it and you'll be fine.😂
vegetable oils are healthy
...It all began when Dr. Knobbe started getting gray hair at the tender age of 14 years old. This was the beginning of his inquiry into asking, “Was this happening because of a genetic predisposition, or was it something else that he was doing to cause his hair to turn white at such a young age?” When Chris turned 19, he grew tired of people mentioning he had so many gray hairs for such a young man. So, coloring his hair stopped the comments. As the years passed, he then found himself dealing with severe arthritis at the age of 33. As a Christian, he knew that God didn’t make mistakes. There must be something that he was doing incorrectly to cause these ‘age-related’ occurrences from happening to him. This brought him to realize that he needed to research how diet influences chronic diseases. He used himself as the guinea pig to change his diet and lifestyle over to an Ancestrally based existence and found his arthritis mostly disappeared within a few days of removing refined grains, seed oils, and processed food....
After 41 years of ongoing hair-coloring appointments, Dr. Knobbe decided when he turned 61 this past December, it was time to live as God designed him to be…allowing his true color to be exposed and perhaps to inspire others to not worry about what other people think, or what social media deems as being a sign of youth and vitality.
Smart move... because most chemical hair coloring products are very unhealthy and toxic...
Your hair colour suits you! I love it. 💕

@@tnvol5331How come then that every carrot you eat too many is stored as saturated fat by/in your body ? 🤦♂️
@@gerrysecure5874 it is difficult if not impossible to store fat eating carrots, There is data showing vegetable oils are healthy.
Technically sugar use may be dropping but we all know that starches and other processed carbohydrates turn in to glucose in your body.
This video has had millions of views, they keep on changing it.
CZcams is changing it? Why?
It's good to see Dr. Knobbe back on the speaking circuit.
His new AHS22 talk drops soon.

I've stopped eating peanut butter now because of the unhealthy oils...
Peanut butter isn’t - or doesn’t need to be processed. Squash a peanut. That’s peanut butter.
Unfortunately I agree with you.....
Yes, freshly ground often available. Nothing added
It seems that the big problem is the refining and adding of toxins that is the problem

Wow, looks like sugar is much less responsible than the seed oils! Great graphs!

@@jmc8076about 70% of olive oil (even so called extra virgin) is illegally bulked up by seed oils like soya... There has just been a big court case about it here.
I don't buy that. I've always avoided processed oils but as soon as I quit sugar, then my life long slightly high BP came down. They have to be equal but even worse together
Pufa and omega 6...combo
Love the hair color! What a man!
I’ve heard a lot of theories of what causes modern diseases and how to stay healthy. One more unbelievable then the other. but this one I think, really make sense.
If you think about what potato chips are. It's sliced potato steamed in vegetable oil. The damages of eating potato chips have been well known for a long time. Yet, our guidelines have accepted vegetable oils into our diet. It's BS if you really think about it. The reason why vegetable oils are allowed for consumption is because it's so cheap to produce and use for everything.
Resturants want cheap costs for something to use when they cook. The same for food processing companies like chips which I already mentioned. Same with deep fried foods.
All of this is greed and the failure of government and health professionals doing their job. They have been bought and paid to let it happen. So while the health problems won't kill a person until 50 to 70 years. The quality of life definitely is impacted.
Once I started eating properly. I realized my learning disability was entirely due to poor nutrition as a youth. I would of stayed in school and made so many better choices.
I dont eat carbs , seed oils , i eat nothing non organic. My meat is grass fed and finished my eggs are pasturaised organic. I was able to lose 93 lbs and i feel fabulous and im 50 and i have no perscribed medicines.
Well done dr. Knobbe. And good for you to have dropped the hair color...

This is the time frame when things really started to change in America, more obesity, more diabetes, more cancers.
The Canadian food guide for decades said drink milk and eat wheat. Both products in great supply in Canada. When they changed the food guide recently the Propaganda Media had to report it but did so gently.
I haven't looked at the new guide.
I just found out about the evils of seed oils last year.

Does the category sugar also take into account the more prevalent form of HFCS? Robert Lustig attributes the fatty liver pandemic due to heavy consumption of beverages sweetened with HFCS.
czcams.com/video/gkEAFj4p6yI/video.html
HFCS is worse than sugar because of it's chemical makeup and it's an appetite enhancer!
Do deceasing sugar volumes include the in rease if fructose consumption.
In my experience he is correct on vegetable/seed oils. I never eat the dangerous oils and avoid completely any product that has them on their label. I have managed to keep my weight in the 160-165# range over the past 4.5 years - since I started keto. However, when I indulge in some rye bread or baked potatoes I begin to creep up to 170# and don't lose it until I stop eating these heavy carbs.
Definitely a different hypothesis on diabetes. Would love to see a debate with this fellow and dr Lustig or dr Bickman. Latter two clearly acknowledge Omega 6 inflammatory response with seed oils and contribution to metabolic disease but if I have heard them correctly their stressing eating too much refined carbs too often as main contributor to type 2 diabetes explosion.
Sadly in the U.S. we have to put together correlation after correlation, give talks about it, before "science" will conduct the studies that will prove those correlation. Happens all the time.
"Science" already knows. It's finding the funding that is the issue... And then the problem of being censored in publishing.
This is one of my all-time-favorite videos on health, and I take my health guidelines from Dr. Knobbe's book = Ancestral Dietary Strategy to Prevent and Treat Macular Degeneration. Strangely what is good for your eyes is good for the rest of your body. Dr. Knobbe has done the research for us and come up with dietary guidelines. Although we each may have to tweak the guidelines according to our health condition. If you have a disease like Parkinson's or irritable bowel syndrome, etc., there is more to know.
czcams.com/video/gkEAFj4p6yI/video.html
i wonder if the "sugar" consumption figures include high fructose corn syrup,. That could change everything,. By the way, the main thing I see in the old B&W film is PEOPLE WALKING.
Just for fun I am going to correlate automobile sales - or automobile usage/ownership, whatever- with Obesity and Diabetes in industrialized countries. My point is that possibly (?) the delivery mechanisms for modern disease are arguably factors other than diet, such as air pollution for example, and/or stress levels. But thank you Dr Knobbe, for staying on point in your well-organised lectures. 🙏 BTW, although you are way too young for me - only 61, a mere boy!- i think you are still rocking it with your white hair. 👨🦳
Your lectures, always with pertinent slides, are beautifully organised!👍🏽🤗🙏🖖🤗👏🏼🤗
Let's just say that it is mainly, the diet!
I'm ok with all this but don't think I have seen too many, if any, drops on sugar consumption as is shown here...

I thought it was the genetically modified wheat ....
think its a combination of oxidized omega6 polyunsaturated veg oil lipids and high levels of blood sugar along with insulin resistance that causes atherosclerosis...think heart disease/plaque was flat in late 1800s and early 1900s and skyrocketed in correlation with seed oil consumption just like obesity cancer and diabetes
You might like Malcolm Kendrick's research on the topic of atherosclerosis. I bought his book and audio version called ' The Clot Thickens' . He explains how various toxins and irritants damage the artery lining leading to blood clots. Blood clots are mostly red blood cells. Red blood cell membranes are made up of mostly cholesterol. LDL is a lipoprotein that carries cholesterol and other substances. There is a type of LDL that has a function in damage repair and immune function.
Plaques contain cholesterol and LDL from these processes, not from eating fat.
If dietary fat was the problem, the veins would clog up first, and veins never do.
What effect does age have on the charts? We are living longer than we did in 1920 so one would expect an increase in BMI.
Please note: these are questions not critisisms.
How about the effects of smoking ? That has a significant effect on eating and cardio and is very common in Asia as opposed to North America
Lastly, what can be done to eliminate omega 6 from adepoise tissue? ?
I heard in another video that it takes several years of abstinence to get rid of it.
It takes 4 years of PUFA free eating to rid your adipose tissue of PUFA (Seed oils).... I'm 63 and I have been eating PUFA free for over 8 years..... My skin is smooth and young looking and I'm in very good health
Ps. Longevity is on the decline.
Yes, seed oils are to blame. But if we did a study based on the number of new chemicals going into processed foods over the last 40 years we would all agree it's not just seed oils! We are consuming thousands of new chemicals we never consumed before.

Exactly!!
Me gustaría saber si las enfermedades mentales y las tendencias homos ex uales tambien estan ligadas a estos aceites
It's so easy, we are basically an animal, so we are made of animal fat, so why eat oil, do lions eat vegitable oil ?

Gotta consider the onslaught of vakcines as a factor as well.
Yes, I'm sure it's a combination of many things!
In India they tout Mustard Seed Oil as a healthy cooking oil option... I wonder how healthy or unhealthy it really is...
How it's processed?
Gmo ... like any other seed oil... highest diabetes Cvd ...

Organic, cold expeller pressed, high oleic sunflower oil is a totally different animal. It has very low amounts of omega 6 oil in it. Omega 6 oil by the way is an essential oil for the body. Typical grain oils just have way too much of it. Compliment this oil with plenty of anti-oxidant / anti-inflammatory foods and you are good to go.
Dr.... what is the alternative to Vegetable oils..
We south Indians use vegetable oil for daily cooking...
is olive oil ok?
What about starflower oil and its high GLA content?
Dr Ray Peat has been saying this for decades.
What about nuts ? They have planty of oil ...
The oils are in small amounts, not concentrated forms.
Is olive oil bad as well?
No, but you're never sure your getting pure olive oil!
👍👍👍👍👍
Dr. Knobbe really lays this awful foods in a gloves off manner ...
vegetable oils are healthy.
3:24, so can anyone prove location of that oil refinery? looks like BS
Check the processing of veg oil. It will help you to make up your mind.
I dont drink cow milk anymore, it messes with my head. So i try to buy Soy, Oat, Rice, etc etc. I challenge you to find ONE of those that DOESNT contain seed oils. >:( WTF
Not judging here, since I opted for super unhealthy habits during much of my adult life, but... hoping you find a substitute for these plant-based “milks” soon.
Oats and wheat are sprayed with glyphosate ( Roundup) at harvest time to kill it standing up. This makes it dry faster, reduces chance of mold, and easy to cut. They call this 'dessication'. Almond products are high in oxalates that accumulate in the body over time, causing joint pain, fibromyalgia, and urinary pain and stones in many people.
This is why I'm ketovore now. No grains and no almonds. I feel so much better.
Oxalates gmo
I use a company called ‘Plenish’ as they are the only company that I’ve found who does not use any seed oils. Almond milk, oat milk, coconut milk.
The clean brands exist. I buy an oat milk that has the ingredients listed as "oat, water"
Speaks too fast, I can't follow him, goes over my head. I'm not super smart like most in the audience probably are.
Never blame sugar which is all natural, for what oils did.
Equally if not more Evil
Look up the Randle Cycle. Sugar is definitely a huge health issue, throw that in with high fat and you've got the perfect storm for bad health. Carbs are sugar, but the higher fiber content of some carbs make it much better. Green leafy carbs vs a baked potato. The potato is just turning into sugar in your body.
Don't include High Fructose Corn Syrup as sugar, as it's a lot worse than cane sugar.
Tons of correlations and no trials. Even n=1. Also. life style effects are not even mentioned. This is low quality evidence. Take a human, a sick human, exclude veg oils and show how he becomes healthy without changing anything else then i would believe this idea a bit more. While it all looks tempting i am still very skeptical.
Go watch video on how "vegetable" oils are made
@@juliannacalifornia i know how they are made, but it does not make them the cause of all problems
@@ArtemKuchin Yes, the obesity and diabetes fairy shows up at night and gives you disease. Where do you think these diseases come from. Do some real research. Seed oils and fructose will make you sick, just give them some time.
@@ActivateMission2ThisTimeline This is exactly the problem. You already have the answer and just looking for the question. This is not scientific approach. I am not saying that seed oils is not a problem, but just epidemiological statistics is not enough from strict science. You need to test for the factor when it is and then when it is not. Do not thing that you can account for everything. Yes, seed oils are unnatural and maybe bad, but if you do not eat carbs, have a good life style, not toxins around, how bad the effect of seed oil would be? No one can say. I suspect that blaming one factor for all problems is not reasonable approach anyway.
Yeah it's nonsense. The randomized trials show that they are actually beneficial (as long as you control for calories).
Another “Doctor” talk supported by the meat industry.
He’s not just talking about meat though.
Cherry picking epidemiological discussion.
Prime example: What are we NOT seeing in the lifestyle video of historic NYC? a: Automobiles (and concommitant initiation of - Sedentary Modern Lifestyle. Not to mention tailpipe exhaust/brake pad particles/toxic stew)
How do these factors relate to sugar or fat consumption? They don’t.
How do they relate to obesity and heart disease? I’ll let you decide.
Where are radios, TV’s, electric/gas labor saving devices and Computers on his graphs? All missing and highly pertinent data to physical and mental health that ramped up within same time period.
All these silly points are addressed in the video and others. More than one epidemiological data is what shows what causes are more likely to be impactful.
Sure, stress and air pollution etc have all contributed to the GAW (Great American Waistline), but Dr Knobbe’s hypothesis, however associational, is pretty compelling.
It's established the ills of omega 6 . Linoleic acid pufa
3:03 this is baton rouge oil refinery. Don't listen to this Mofo.,
I cannot stand this video. How is this dude saying "oh, you cannot consume vegetable oils". I am sorry, but what is wrong with properly processed sunflower oil? If I'm buying sunflower seeds and pressing it at my home. What is wrong with that? Why sunflower oil became an evil? This dude doesn't have right to speak.
Go ahead and eat lots then cletus ! Why flap ur gums about it .
Unless you have a factory at home you will only be eating small amounts and not using solvents to remove the oil...
