The squirrel
Fair enough
Nobody messes with Ratatoskr. He can set both Níðhöggr and the Eagle upon someone.
Who is the squirrel ?
@@l.psimer6124 The squirrel Ratatoskr lives in Yggdrasil, the World Tree. He carries messages between the nameless golden eagle on Yggdrasil's crown and Níðhöggr. the dragon living in Yggdrasil's roots. He also overhears the governing assemblies of the gods, who meet under the crown of Yggdrasil.
You don't mess with Ratatoskr! He may seem tiny and insignificant, but information is power, and so is having friends in the highest and lowest places.
Seriously:
Ratatoskr is a bit of a mystery. The surviving mythology tells us where he lives, and that he carries messages up and down the tree, but he doesn't seem to play any role in any events.
OMG! This is soooo weird! I need to tell you an incredible story!
There was a very famous and ingenious Russian writer, Michael Bulgakov. During 1930-1935, the years of great repressions, when Stalin was the head of USSR, Bulgakov wrote his best classical novel, "Master and Margaret."
The novel is about Jesus Christ, Devil himself, Pontius Pilatea, who sent Christ to be executed, a writer (Master), and writer's lover (Margaret).
The novel describes the eternal struggle between good and evil, light and darkness.
In the book, Devil name is Voland. To these days, the name is a total mystery, and it's a subject of discussion for almost a century now. Nobody knows where this name came from and why the author used it.
Throughout history, the name was mentioned only once in the works of Immanuel Kant.
You see, when I opened this short video and heard "Voland," I was absolutely stung. Gonna have to investigate Northern mythology now. It's an unbelievable surprise
I would also highly recommend for anyone to read the novel if you are interested in mythology, religious beliefs etc. Please, believe me, it's an incredible works of literature!i

I thought Thor's hammer freya's boat and that golden hair were forge by the dwarf brothers.
Same
yes, the sons of ivaldi, this guy is just wrong
he called them elves like a dumbass
Everything but Mjolnir was crafted by the first/eldest Sons of Ivaldi who are never named or counted. Brokkr and Eitri/Sindri are part of the second group of Sons of Ivaldi who made to Mjolnir, Freya's magic Boar, and the Odin's Ring to win a bet against Loki who bet that they couldn't match the first groups' skills. Voland was the first Human to craft divine quality items but may have shared an Elven mother(Idunn) with the first Sons of Ivaldi.
Thors hammer was forged by another pair of dwarf Brothers brokk and eitri
Not an elf smith but A dwarf smith made all those beautiful gifts for the gods.
@@isaljaguar7800 not really gods have their powers still they are gods weapons aren't gods for example Mjolnir is like battery charger it just make way for energy to spread it don't create energy
Yeah its odd that they contradicted their own previous videos
commonly dwarves in Norse myth is interchangeable or more of is another term for dark elf but they were commonly known as dwarves
The various magical items were made by different smiths. The distinction between dwarves and Dökkálfar is unclear, to put it mildly.

Greek came first
@@S_ScalingThe Norse Gods date from The Bronze Age literally they are older than Greek Gods
The claim that Volund is the most powerful being in the Norse Mythos is equivalent to calling Oppenheimer, the most powerful man in history because he invented the nuclear bomb. It's a ridiculous notion
Well Oppenheimer did changed the world. So i will call him a powerful man for changing the world's dynamics.
except for the fact that he didn't create it by himself, oppenheimer couldn't use it himself
@@ramasaputra6205 And Oppenheimer was forced by higher officials to make that discovery aka people with more « power » than him so yeah .

There are a few people in this comment section saying “They were made by dwarves, not elves!” But I believe the dwarves were also referred to as the Svartalfar which means “black elf” so he would be correct in calling them elves.
not really. two different things
There are different kind of elves and wights, one does not translate to the other
Black elves and light elves, child. Sometimes people like to refer as the black elves as dwarves.
@@aounaloevera4080whatever you say child
@@ysurfed4648 Child. Also, I did make a mistake; Dwarves are separated from the elves (in terms of race) however they still co exist in the realm of Svartalfheim, and Nidavellir, BOTH land of elves. Idk why you're completely assuming my age, brother.. As if you could know anything about norse mythos, your counter to my comment nothing but "whatever you say child"..... Cringe.
I suppose in terms of being, influential, important, and dynamic he was powerful - but in terms of actual power it would most definitely go to Hel as she was stated to be even more powerful than Odin, either that or Surtr who defeated Hel just out of being a massive fiery calamity and we all know that fire is Super-Effective against the dead.
But, if you really want to get technical you could, in theory, suggest that one of the strongest if not the strongest Norse gods are among those of whom survived Ragnarok - being the following:
Aegir, Vidar, Vali, Hoenir, Vili, Magni, Modi, Hermóðr, Forseti and Ullr.
Most of the goddesses, however, will survive: Frigg, Freya, Sif, Thrud, Idun, Saga, Eir, Gefjun, Fulla, Sjofn, Lofn, Var, Vor, Syn and Hlin.
Vidar or Freya probably ranking at the top of that list with a close second being Frigg. I feel like Freya would beat Frigg in battle though as Frigg has no combat related “domains” or a means of protecting against Freya’s unique magic - well, now that I think about it in that regard, Freya might be at the top just because she possesses magic and is already a goddess of battle.
So, I’d say Freya if Odin isn’t in the picture.
A smith vs a literal armageddon bringing wolf
Loki being Loki
Volundr wasn't mentioned as being one of the sons of ivaldi he was the son of a giant, the king of the finns. He's still and elf though
They fought in heaven ??? I thought it was Valhalla

love the norse mythology
I don't think just because he can make powerful objects, that it makes himself powerful
Loki after doing that
Loki : it's just a prank
Amazing and very incredible Stories.
Bruh I cant believe how the Ivaldi Sons lose to some Dwarves that made the mjolnir
The most powerful character in the norse mythology was the fire giant Surt.
So basically this guy must have been the most powerful because nobody else would be powerful at all if it weren't for him making the items to start with...
He can craft real well... Doesn't mean he is as powerful as Odin.
Voland is god speed
Isn't tyrfing the sword given to Tyr the sword of victory? It doesn't miss, cut thru anything and user would become invincible.
Well this is one of the iterations of how those items were made
being super important and most powerful are quite different...
I would argue that Nidhoggr is actually the most powerful being, given that he is large enough to gnaw in the roots of Yggdrasil. That makes him roughly the size of a Lovecraftian horror: so large that our minds cannot conceive of it. He is the embodiment of decay and destruction
I really hope for some kind of movie or video game depicting the horrors of niflheim and Nidhoggr. The story of an oath breaker who gets sent there as punishment and experiences the horrors of the norse underworld. I guess Hellblade is the closest we have to that
I'd say nidhoggr. A dragon who sucks the blood of the wicked and is so large that he gnaws on the roots of the worldtree. He is a literal threat to existence itself. His wings are fused with the corpses of sinners and no one even tries to defeat him.
It all depends how you examine this. But this is a great observation. Either wise the gods would have to fight naked.
I know that dark elves are probably the same thing as dwarves, but calling him an elf is a bit misleading as people might think they are light elves
Edit: Also isn't it Brokk and Sindri who made the spear
crazy that Wayland went from probably being saga levels of hyperbolic during the proto germanic period to being part of the "myth" itself by the time of the Christianization of Iceland.
Fenrir, skoll and hati? Inevitability is the meaning of the story…
I love how these guys were worshipped as God's yet had so much drama between them
This doesn't mean the smith was The Most Powerful Being in Nordic Mythos. He could create powerful artifacts and weapons but could he fight Odin one-on-one?
EDIT: The 1v1 doesn't include artifacts or weapons. I'm putting the Odin vs Smith with just raw power and durability hand-to-hand or whatever powers they each possess.
If he used his creations probably
Yeah and remember Surt so he cam just suck his artifacts and weapons
Using his creations he could be kratos v2
Fucking power includes equipments doofus. That is like saying but Zeus cant use his lightning bolt and has to fight in a 1v1 against kronos to be titled the strongest god. He would get wrecked.
Bro you can't say that they can't use thier powers. It's a given that they use what's at thier disposal, that's like saying a swordsman can't use swords
Old Kratos💪💀
volund or in old english wayland and his smithy you can find in ashbury oxfordshire england
I love the skithblathnir ever since I encountered that in Highschool DxD LNs.
Hephaestus Counterpart ?
Kratos: Let's move, boi.
Mimir: Brother! BROTHER!
Mimir: This isn't who you wanna be!
I would've said Kratos
Technically speaking, that makes *his work* powerful, not himself. I still believe Surtur is the most powerful being since he is the one burning and destroying all the Nine Realms during Ragnarok
I'd say it's Vidar. Thor wore a belt to double his strength. Without it, it's quite possible Vidar was stronger.
Skyrim maxed out enchanting be like
Ooohhh fuck god of war :Atreus’s ascension …is looking pretty fire
As a german, hearing the word Tarnkappi is very funny and intersting at the same time.
Tarnkappi sounds almost like Tarnkappe, wich translates to invisibilityhat in english.
Here you can see how similar the old Germanic languages are, to each other and to the modern Germanic languages.
*The Mead of Inspiration*
Did you notice how he didn't use any of the things he made, that's because he wasn't powerful enough to use them he could just make them sit down please because you don't know what power is
Hi
I would say the Norms since they control fate and basically write the whole storyline or Norse mythology
Ragnar lothbroks laughs
What about the Norns? They were literally capable of deciding everyone’s fate.
I love watching these because often they pronounce the words wrong and it sounds so goofy
Eivor
lol brook and sindri forged the spear, the golder hair, and mjolnir and did you know that mjolnir is supposed to be a two handed hammer but because of loki messing with them by transforming into a wasp and keep on stinging them they didn't make it in time
What happened to him during Ragnarock?
Well, all three of the sons built that stuff together
Isn't nidhog the most powerful? Legit eating the world tree and no one can stop it from doing so
To be honest, in Norse myth I’d put it as Fenrir. Since it’s inevitable that he is the beginning of the end, he may die in the poem but Hati and skoll are there finish the job.
@@Star.Chaser Fenrir got actualy stoped though, and he do fall in battle. Nidhog however dont and nothing do stop it even afterwards
@@haylongwang3002The most powerful of Norse Mythology should be Vidar and Vali. Vidar and Vali represented the imperishable forces of nature. Vidar easily killed Fenrir at Ragnarok while Vali grew to full adulthood and slew Hodr within one day of his birth, they also able to survived and completely unharmed by both the swelling of the sea and the fiery conflagration unleashed by Surt. Vidar and Vali also destined to restore the world after Ragnarok and then become the new ruler of world.
He made the hammer as well
Sindri Solos
So this dwarve can make magical items, but even before Odin had any Dwarven items he slew Ymir the being who's dead body is the earth. Dwarves made a hammer which you don't have to pick back up when you throw it and sometimes it can revive goats, odin murders planet sized foes un-aided
Fallen angels and Nephilim
What?
Did you say elf craftsman?
ohhh this might have a connection to the story of records of ragnarok netflix show
I heard of it being 2 dwarfs who i believe were brothers
We wasn't an elf, he was a dwarf
Squirrel negs everybody ngl
Was there a mention of a particular frost axe?
He’s wrong. The folding flying boat was pretty cool but the most powerful Norse being ever was my grandfather, Ivar Iverson. He could take two pieces of iron, steel or any other metal and get them so hot that they would melt , then take another metal rod and melt it so that the two pieces of metal could be joined together making one, then grind them so that you couldn’t tell where they had been joined. He was a damn good welder, the best in the land.
Ah the good old days of forged in fire.
Gungnir does not have the power to "never miss its target" it is only said to be balanced so well that it can strike any target.
The ability to never miss its target belongs to Gae Bolg
So basically have an invisible suit and a knife made by the same material of Mjolnir and easy win against almost any being.
Weren’t these made by them dwarfs ?
It’s actually Volund
Loki did WHAT!
BOI, Bring me my belt.
Thor is the most powerful being of norse he did what no god could do to kill the world serpent 💯🔥🔥🔥⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
they both Dead
that's a draw
I don't really agree with this logic. If you say Ivaldi is the strongest because he made the strongest items, then couldn't you say Odin (plus others) are the strongest because they slayed Ymir and created entire realms with his body. You can't make super powerful weapons if there's no worlds to make them in.
Ultimately, power ranking ancient mythology is kind of redundant. It's not like Vikings drew power charts for their deities.
Um, actually, Tyr got Skidbladner, not Frej.
Santa Monica should add these item in gow Ragnarok even this guy as well
Ymir. It's Ymir.
What about Tyr the God who created the 9 relems
Over Ymir’s dead body
Haul wotan
True dat, the dvergr (dwarves) are the best cosmic craftsmen of the universe. Without their help, the gods would be less likely to hold any influence.
You very well can meet them yourself if you like, just take a good 3.5 DMT trip, go through the rainbow bridge and you might just meet what everyone else calls the “clockwork elves” or the “Jesters.” The Norse called them the Dwarves.
This tells u something .
So sindri is the next Villian?🤣🤣
Kratos now my guy
In short, Loki the one bastard whom everyone hates. He engineered everything like a petard.
He also built mjolnir Thor hammer though Loki turned into a fly and started biting him while making the hammer there fore making the handle a bit short
Not sure about that one chief. He didn’t make a weapon capable of taking down the Fenris Wolf, so I’m gonna say he was the strongest.
Surtr desagrees 🔥
So he make himself all new equipment
That doesn't mean he was the strongest. Bruh
humans have amazing imaginations
