Pete's bit about Clash at the Castle is very similar to why WrestleMania 20 will always be one of my favorites. I found out that Hooters was showing WWE PPVs, so I went to Hooters to watch WM 20. A room full of strangers, and super hot waitresses, at the start, but by the time the main event came on, a communal comraderie had grown. All of us, out of our seats, gathered around one TV behind the bar, screaming for Triple H to tap to Benoit's crossface. When he did, an eruption of joy. High fives, back slaps, hugs with the waitresses. Just a fun fun night.

7:10 Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that was also the first time Bryan used the Busaiku Knee as a finisher (up until then he'd just used the LeBell Lock). So the crowd didn't really have any reason to believe it could be the finish

I do believe it was, I couldn't believe it either that he beat Cena clean with a random running knee. XD

@@trewilliams8411 Damn, you're pretty heated over a random wrestling match from 10 years ago. Bryan Danielson is on the run of his career in AEW, he's one of the only guys that I don't consider "cringe" in wrestling at the moment. Wrestling is inherently cringe, so to not have some glaring aspect of cringe is a huge accomplishment. 😂

I’m so glad to see someone mention Rumble 07. Maybe it’s because it was my first WWE PPV I ever watched (and it was on my eighth birthday) but I just adore that show and have watched it more than any other. To this day the greatest final two in Rumble history, one of Cena’s greatest title defenses, and a really solid Kennedy-Batista match that really showed how much potential the former had

  • @HappyScaryMoxley

I have a soft spot for Money in the Bank 2016, back then I was such a fanboy of Dean Ambrose, Survivor Series 2015 hurt me, Royal Rumble 2016 hurt me in regards of him getting so close to the WWE Championship. So I marked out when he won the MTiB, and marked out even louder when he cashed in. The only other time I marked out so hard in Wrestling was when Bayley won that match in Brooklyn.

  • @Handleofallhandles

I 100% agree with Clash at the Castle being so high, in the time I’ve been watching wrestling I’ve never felt a crowd so electric, being there in person may make me biased though.
I also would have an honourable mention of Wrestlemania XXV (25) because it’s the first WWE show I ever watched and it’s what I owe getting into wrestling to. I loved the Matt vs Jeff hardy match, the money in the bank ladder match, the HBK vs Undertaker match

One match that doesn't get enough respect on the Backlash 2000 card is Malenko Vs Scotty for the Light Heavyweight Title. We talk so much about Brock Vs Cena and that power squash match, but Scotty/Malenko is a weirdly technical squash and I adore it. Malenko just tears apart Scotty's legs over and over, working them to set up for the Texas Cloverleaf, poor Scotty got little to no offense in.
Also, Backlash 2000 was my first PPV with friends, and we loved seeing Rock beat HHH and the return of fat Austin lol

Royal Rumble 01 will always be my favorite Rumble. Being from New Orleans we never got PPV’s, and rarely got Raw or Smackdown. So the excitement was through the roof to get a major PPV. Then the show was amazing, if you weren’t there, that chair shot to Benoit as he dived through the ropes was so loud…it still lives in my head to this day. Then the hardcore Rumble…such a great show!

    • @brennan9785
      @brennan9785 Před 8 měsíci +1

Here's my list for those interested
      11. Backlash 2009 Cena eating spotlight and Orton finally wins the title plus a sick I Quit match between Matt and Jeff Hardy.
      10. Backlash 2001 Duchess of Queensbury rules match and an intense winner takes all tag match between 2 man power trip and brothers of destruction.
      9. Unforgiven 2008 aka Jericho gets beaten to a pulp by HBK only to win the World title in the Scramble a match type I liked but alas I was the only 1 apparently.
      8. The Bash 2009 Jericho VS Mysterio Mask for title with an amazing finish and then Jericho and Edge win the tag titles in a decent mid card triple threat tag with the Colons and Legacy.
      7. Vengeance 2003 Benoit VS Guerrero in the US Title tournament finals and a surprisingly good main event of Angle Lesnar and Big Show.
      6. Backlash 2000 Basically Mania but done right plus that Austin pop still huge by today's standard.
      5. Survivor Series 2019 NXT wins lol I was a huge NXT guy back then I barely watched main roster plus low key underrated triple threat between Roddy Strong AJ and Shinskue.
      4. Royal Rumble 2020 Drew gets his nig win and Fiend VS Bryan was eerie but great plus the first half of the Rumble being Brock going nah I'm winning lads hilarious.
3 Royal Rumble 2018 Both winners being the correct choice and Ronda debut which was huge at the time.
      2. Mania 31 still to me the best recent Mania and that's saying a lot given it was 8 years ago, that RKO on Seth the heist of the century and Cena and Bryan became mid card champs to elevate the rest of the mid card huge.
      1. Summerslam 2016 Me and my mates do Predictions and this is the show where I got flawless won the championship for the first time and the card is huge Lesnar VS Orton in the main Cena VS Styles 2 Seth VS Finn he'll Ambrose VS Ziggler was different to say the least. That's my list have a great day guys and gals.

Would be interesting to see a "B" level list. Yes, the big 4(5 with MITB now) and many of the international shows are great because of their venues. But shows like No Mercy 2002, aforementioned Backlash 2000, No Way Out 2008, TLC 2012... I'm sure there are more that I've forgotten, but still could be fun with that constraint.

Wrestlemania 17 will forever be the daddy of wrestling PPV's. There's much better shows out there, but no wrestling event has ever embodied how I view quality wrestling better than that show - edgy, corny, unpredictable, fast paced, electric atmosphere, great characters all over the card, etc... it's quite simply a fun time. A bit sad there's no NXT Takeover here but really solid choices.
At a point where the main roster was absolutely terrible most of the time, I loved NXT Takeovers so much.
    - Takeover: Philadelphia for the fantastic Gargano vs Andrade match and also Black vs Cole
    - TakeOver: New Orleans for the amazing North American Championship Ladder Match and Ciampa vs Gargano
    - TakeOver: War Games 2018, Pete Dunne, Ricochet, & War Raiders vs Undisputed Era is my favourite War Games match ever
And there are so much more, the NXT Black & Gold era was what kept me hooked on wrestling.

Hi there! For an idea, I thought of this from when Whatculture were doing their news roundup and were looking at questions people had. One of them was who should be the first inductee if AEW ever made a Hall of Fame (in 10 or 15 years)? So, for a top 10 list, how about your top 10 AEW Wrestlers, Managers, and/or Referees (since I think referees in any pro wrestling company are just as important as the other players in a match) that should be in their first Hall of Fame and, as an added bonus if you want, who should induct them?

The build up to Backlash 2000 main event was crazy. The story of the Mcmahon-Helmsley regime vs 1 man (The Rock) and a rumoured potential appearance from their old nemesis (Stone Cold) as his ally. 95% of the way through the match, The Rock who has had the absolute snot kicked out of him by everyone in the regime including Brisco and Patterson, refusing to lose. The glass shatters, the crowd explodes and Stone Cold marches down to the ring with a steel chair to unload 8 months worth of justice on the regime. He does his thing, leaves and The Rock pins HHH in the middle of the ring with Earl Hebner counting the fall.
I would also add that the RAW the following day was probably one of the best "go home episodes ever". Rock vs Shane in a cage with the regime outside.

Top ten underrated wrestlers, from NXT, WWE, and maybe even ECW performers who don’t get the recognition they deserve. Top ten wrestling finishers. Also I would love to see a Survival Series listing every WWE Tag Team champion, with the exception being that all competitors have a secret partner, which ever team says the most answers combined, moves on to a tie breaker match with the history of WWE Tag Team Championship as the way to determine the winner.

A lot of the same PPVs would of been on my list, but one that was missed, and on mine would be Royal Rumble 2016. My friends would vouch that I would react and mark out here and there, but RR2016 that made me feel like a little kid. Mainly because AJ Freaking Styles debuted. My favorite non WWE wrestler at the time debut on my favorite PPV, in my favorite style match. I literally think my heart skipped when it happened. My friend as soon as the first shirt went on sale had bought it for me as he knew how impactful that debut was for me in the modern era for WWE.
And like you guys were saying some of the best PPVs are some of the ones you got to watch with your friends and family even though they might be bad, or like 1/2 card event. But they will always be memorable.

Wrestlemania 31 would be a perfect 10/10 show if Sting beat Triple H at WM 31. WM 30 is easily the most overrated show that people only remember the opening match, the streak ending, and the ending of the show. The rest of WM30 is pretty boring, Wyatt vs Cena fell flat, The Outlaws and Kane vs The shield was crap, the Vickie Guerrero open invitation sucked, The andre the giant battle royal was mid outside of Cesaro winning.
But, I don't think any pay per views will be above WM17 and WM19.

    8. Hell in a Cell 2020
    9. Royal Rumble 2017
    10. Money in the Bank 2013
Personally I was there for 2 of the 3 events (WrestleMania 39 and MITB 2013) and hot damn both shows were fun in many ways. Can’t lie Pandemic wrestling was super fun and that’s why HIAC 2020 Is on here and then everything else just was historic in all kinds of ways.

The rankings were kinda all over the place with this one, but I enjoyed the fact that all three guys had some variety in their own personal Top Ten lists. Anyway, the numbers varied greatly as a result, but here are the Top Three:
In Third Place with 13 points: Royal Rumble 2001.
In Second Place with 19 points: it's a tie between Money in the Bank 2011 and Clash at the Castle 2022.
And in First Place with a grand total of 27 points: WrestleMania X-Seven.

Here is a list of personal favorites hard for me to do a "best" list
    1. Wrestlemania 26 - Taker vs HBK favorite mania match ever Cena vs Batista and Jericho vs Edge were both awesome title matches then throw in Punk vs Rey Triple H vs Sheamus and a MITB match very underrated show (also year I graduated and we had a huge watch party so very memorable)
    2. Wrestlemania 22 - Special for me because my great grandma and my grandpa are huge wrestling fans as well as my brothers at the time and it was the last mania we all got to watch together plus my brothers all time favorite is Rey so seeing him happy over his title win was also great
    3. Wrestlemania 23 - Best MITB match as well as 2 epic world title matches with Cena vs HBK and Taker vs Batista
    4. Royal Rumble 2007 - Best last man standing match ever with Cena vs Umaga and best final 2 in a rumble maybe ever with Taker and Shawn
    5. Royal Rumble 2017 - Cena vs Styles (favorite match of all time) Owens vs Reigns was awesome one of the better garbage matches and that Rumble was so unpredictable
    6. Extreme Rules 2012 - Cena vs Lesnar Bryan vs Sheamus and Punk vs Jericho were all fantastic
    7. Unforgiven 2006 - We had a TLC and a Hell In The Cell match on a B level PPV enough said lol
    8. No Mercy 2008 - Jericho vs HBK (favorite ladder match ever) HHH vs Hardy (favorite singles match of triple h's career for me)
    9. Wrestlemania 31 - Best MITB cash in Sting vs HHH was epic and both midcard title matches over delivered
    10. Survivor Series 2009 - Really enjoyed both world title matches and both elimination matches (If the Cena vs DX triple threat happened at mania it would be talked about more easily my favorite WWE triple threat) but the TNA Unbreakable 3 way between AJ, Joe and Daniels will always be my fave lol

I always think the 2000 Royal rumble gets overlooked because of the 2001 rumble being so good.
2000 is legit great too though, the Debut of Tazz, the bonkers table match between the Hardy's and Dudley's, a solid rumble and probably the greatest street fight/no holds barred match the WWE have ever put on. Such a great show

Unforgiven 2006. Edge vs Cena. Trish v Lita, Nitro v Jeff, that RKO spot with Carlito and even that handicap match between DX v Vince, Shane and Show was fun as fuck.
