      What about voice calling? The tesla voice activated calling sucks. A request for Erin is recognized as Aaron and since I have no Aaron in my phone, it says no contact found. Its unbelievable flawed. It appears that the voice dialing is sexist. I would like to solve the voice dialing issue with a device like this. Currently I am pulling my Apple watch to my face and asking Siri to call someone. Its not reliable and I sometimes I have to hold the crown. I would like to either be able to hit the scroll wheel or just yell a command to trigger a voice dial or voice to text. Can you go into more detail on how the voice dialing works and on which output source is uses for this (screen speaker or car speaker)?

    At first, I thought it was going to be another front screen display video. But I’m glad I watched it. Your video specifically address my issue with the screens; audio and phone call through the vehicle while being connected to the CarPlay screen. I would love to see more follow up videos if you come into any issues.

    Thanks Cody, I just installed the F9 a couple weeks ago! I was going to install the front camera but after taking the frunk apart, the gromet that you're supposed to cut that looks so "easy" to find in Hansshow's instructions and other CZcams vids was nowhere to be found. I set it aside for another day. I have a Long Range 2020 Model 3. My Model 3 also has the Intel Atom processor and indeed it is a bear to get to that plug, but I like that the relay is provided so no permanent changes are made.
    Display has ben up and running and it's been great. A couple of gremlins I've noticed...every now and then it comes on and shows the time of day being 11:00 and the UI is unresponsive for a minute or two, then it reboots and it's back to normal. Also the outside temperature isn't always in sync; it may be a degree or two off. But if those are the only two "issues" then I'm good with it.
    One question I have is that it says it supports OTA updates, although I've read in some forums that this is merely a marketing gimmick and Hansshow never issues updates. Nevertheless, I noticed on your screen and mine under Wifi there's "tslink not connected" with an OTA "update" button right next to it. I don't see any way to connect the wifi to my home.
    My F9 is the Linux version; it looks like Hansshow released another version in mid-late December that is Android based. My wife got me the Hansshow H7 Plus 7" rear display screen which is very nice, connected to wifi easily, and is Android 13 based.

    I just tried installing this on my early 2020 Model 3 (11/19 build) and had a couple of issue:
    1) I couldn't slide the plastic vent trim piece from the Hansshow screen properly into the Tesla AC vent like the video shows at the 11:12 mark. I'll need to cut/sand the plastic piece to get it to fit.
    2) I couldn't fish the 3 screen connector wires through the dash trim vent holes. The connectors were just too large for the vent holes. They didn't fit in my cousin's 2021 Model 3 either. Interestingly, we had no issue fishing through the wire for the included front bumper camera.
    I plan on reaching out to Hansshow to see what they have to say.

  • @peja.1267
    @peja.1267 Před 3 měsíci +1

    Do you have the version with the android operating system where you can install Netflix and other streaming services on your F9? I do. The biggest problem it’s giving me is that none of the apps on the F9 send their audio to the Tesla audio system via BT. Under settings, I am able to connect the F9 screen as a Bluetooth device on the Tesla main screen. However, when you push connect to actually use the Tesla audio system, the Tesla main screen keeps saying failed to connect. They connect for like a second and then disconnect. Haven’t been able to find a solution anywhere. Therefore, all the audio is being played on the tiny internal speaker which is really quiet when you’re driving on the freeway and try to listen to any audio coming out of the F9 screen.

  • @chemicalsugp
    @chemicalsugp Před 6 měsíci +3

    Hansshow devices are terrible for phone calls. Their customer service is equally as bad, they just gave up fixing my issue.
    There are bluetooth issues that keep connecting to the screen even when you have exited the car. In the middle of the night my phone keeps connecting to the screen and all audio from my phone is routed to the car. I have to literally have to forget the bluetooth setting on the phone and then pair it back as soon as I enter the car. Super annoying. No CZcamsr talks about the phone quality and the bugginess of the device. I dont know how newer devices perform but I would assume its still present.

    I would like to know if they have fixed these issues I have with my current unit installed in my 2023 AMD Tesla Y: (I use android auto but I believe it applies to carplay as well)
    1- The call is not directed to the Tesla audio; it rather goes to the unit speaker and the microphone it uses is the unit's microphone which made phone calls not clear
    2- When you end a call you received, the music that was previously playing does not resume and the unit becomes non responsive

      For #1, you need to set the setting in Settings to "Original BT" and connect your phone to both the Tesla vehicle and to the 9 inch display so that the audio goes through the Tesla speakers. "Power Amplifier" means it goes through the built in speaker which is not advised.

    The F9 appears to improve on a few things over my year-old 10.25" 4G Hansshow unit. Now that I can access my podcasts on the Tesla directly, half the benefit of my Hansshow unit has been eliminated. I asked about how long could that be since I ordered early when it was first announced. I was told that they are not delivering according to the order number. Tesla has decided to order by location and Texas and California were going to be the first to get the Cyber trucks. So I guess we should take up residency in Texas. Also, Florida could expect delivery in 1 to 2 years.

    Another free product they gave you for a video install review. Start paying for the products and then I might take your reviews seriously.

    • @msawyer91
      @msawyer91 Před 5 měsíci +2

      I bought this very display during Black Friday, and installed it a couple weeks back. I have no issues with Cody's install and in all fairness he said this specifically wasn't meant to be a review. So I'll give my 2 cents as someone who paid for the product.
      Installation was not very easy, but it was also the first time I'd ever done this where Cody has installed devices like this before. So he has a tactical advantage there. Second, I have the Intel Atom, and it is a b**** to get to (Cody points this out as well). Also, in other install videos I watched for the camera, they make it appear that there is this gromet you have to cut to feed the wire through and it is readily visible. Uh, no. I wound up setting the camera aside and will tackle that another day.
      Getting the cables run through the dash, I taped them down with heavy duty electrical tape that's rated for higher heat. I don't want mystery rattles in the dash if the wires wiggle hitting a bump on Michigan's wonderful roads. Running the wires was easy, mounting the display was a cinch (they give you a template), so aside from getting to the Intel Atom connectors, installation wasn't horrible. Getting to the Intel Atom I had to lay upside down in the passenger seat with my head under the dash. This isn't a Hansshow issue, but rather ANY aftermarket display you want to install that has to tie into the infotainment processor.
      Overall I think the F9 display looks and functions great. Air flows through it nicely, the color of it matches the other appointments of the car, so it doesn't look out of place. I had no issues getting CarPlay up and running. Just the other day I was listening to Spotify through the car then initiated a phone call through CarPlay. The call was great; we heard each other clearly, no choppiness. So that was good. Other CarPlay-capable apps all seemed to behave as they should. As for the native display functions itself, it seems fine, although a speedometer that goes up to 260 is a bit goofy. It's easy enough to change the themes, tweak settings, change your car color, go in and out of CarPlay, etc. With a yoke the screen is plenty easy to see.
      So what don't I like? The display does have a couple gremlins. Every once in a while when it powers up, it's like it's not connected to the car. The clock will show 11:00 and the UI is unresponsive. After a minute or two, however, it reboots itself and is back to normal. A second is the instructions state to use the right scroll wheel, to toggle left or right to navigate some functions. That's fine, but it also changes your autopilot settings (chill, assertive), so just be mindful of that on the main screen. I don't use FSD a ton, so not a huge issue but something to just keep in mind. The last is there doesn't seem to be a way to connect it to wifi to get OTA updates despite it saying it supports OTA.

      @@msawyer91 Can you tell me how the voice calling and voice texting works? What are the options for triggering the voice command? Scroll wheel? Can I say "Hey siri" for example? What about audio routing? When doing calls does the system use the car audio and microphone or do you have to use the built in speaker and microphone? What happens if you are listening to music using the car and your phone starts to right or you get a text? Is the music interrupted or do you have to manually mute the music? Thanks for your review of this demo.

      @@trevoryour since my phone is also paired via BT to my car, it behaves the same way as if I had tried texting directly from the phone (via dictation). It'll take over the car speakers/microphone. So basically it's just the visual interface that's "changing" -- you're interacting with the F9 as the screen instead of the phone screen. It behaves no differently than CarPlay I've used in any other car.

    Ridiculous that it doesn’t have carplay built in main screen to begin with. Stupid.

      Tell that to Mary Barra at GM. They're killing CarPlay on all their EVs and will do the same on their ICEs. They want to release their own subscription-based service. The drawback to EVs to traditional manufacturers is less maintenance (oil changes), which are a cash cow for dealerships. So kill "free" things like CarPlay and Android Auto, and monetize your own platform. It's not just Tesla.
