There is a certain, undying sadness that echos throughout Russian music, literature, culture, philosophy, and art that I think we can all connect to in some way. The Russian language is beautiful. More than that, though, the Russian people have an indestructable morale. They somehow find a way to withstand the most depressing of circumstances. It’s beautiful. Have a nice day everyone. I’m just rambling.
That is, because in Russia we were always relied on ourselves: on 10 leaders there were only 2-4 which been working for their country. We didn't get any colonies for cheap work force or resources, this land was all we have. Just a bunch of towns, a lot of villages, a bunch of talented peoples and very small level of technology. Our future almost always comes with sadness, but we were pushing it together, hand by hand, shoulder to shoulder. And we firstly found it only in 19th century, when industrial revolution knock to our doors with 40-60 years of backlog to Europe. Then there was a Great War, which gave birth to two revolutions: 1st one was made by idiots, which just keep lying to us for 7-8 months. 2nd one was made by people which completed their promises, but with cost SUCH great, so we still can not fully believe what we made right choice. By the way, 20th century was a golden age for Russia and other countries of USSR. This could be not that truly history (because my English is not that good and what I prefer to learn history of last two centuries). But I hope I gave ya a kind of understanding how our (and other countries of Russian Empire, and USS republics) history feels to me. (btw, I think what people with better middle-age history knowledge will say more)
This brings up many interesting points. The people of Russia are beautiful. I must say though, as someone who has spent nearly their entire life researching history, thay I cannot agree with you on the state of the USSR. I do agree that the Soviet Union had it’s golden age but, it started out as a bloody massacre. I, myself, am a socialist. But, Stalin was a fascist dictator who ruled with force. Millions of his own country men dead at his hands. He was a fascist under the guise of socialism. He replaced community with the party. This is not an attack on the people of eastern Europe, however. Again, I acknowledge that the USSR had it’s golden age. It also had it’s downfall.. At the end of the day, I believe that the ideal system for human prosperity would be a socialist, democratic, libertarian, republic. People governing themselves and taking care of eachother. Earning their way into society by participating and making their community a better place.

I do believe what ideal system for humanity would be social-democracy, because traditional free-trade democracy brought us to current state: consumerism society which works just like "Hive" concept from science-fiction - race, living with only one target: consume everything in the universe until there will be only dead worlds in cold stars.

Теперь главная цель всего народа - индустриализация. На этом съезде выступил Михаил Николаевич Тухачевский со своим докладом о начавшейся милитаризацией стран Запада - Франции и Великобритании. Начался процесс индустриализации ударными темпами, наращивание оборонной промышленности. Такая обширная индустриализация требовала гения-руководителя роль которого возглавил Иосиф Виссарионович. Менее чем за 15 лет произошло невозможное. Рост экономики составил 13.5% в год!!! Это мировой рекорд для всей планеты. Говорить о том, какие возможности открылись перед населением, не считаю нужным. К 36 году СССР был безусловным лидером на материке, а к 37 году окончательно сложилась профессиональная армия, вооружённая по последнему слову техники. Более половины всего командного состава - коммунисты, верные товарищи своих подчинённых. В высших военных кругах стоят большие патриоты своей Родины, которые каждый день тратят максимум усилий для укрепления рубежей страны. По поводу чисток - это было ужасно. Множество миллионов погибли. Но поверьте на слово, товарищ Сталин в этом не виноват. В высших кругах чистки устраивали сотрудники НКВД, которые подчинялись наркому внутренних дел СССР, то есть - Ежову, потом Ягоде, опять Ежову и затем с 38 года - Берии. Они все отсчитывались перед Сталиным и он сам на них опирался. Как итог - в 38 расстреляли Ягоду, в 40 - Ежова, а Берия погиб позже Сталина, но тоже из-за раскалённого свинца во лбу - в 1955 году от рук КГБшников, которых отправил такой же предатель как и он сам - Никита Сергеевич Хрущёв. Что же происходило у народа? Было время когда было крайне жутко и, действительно, можно было сравнивать только с немецкой оккупацией. По словам моей бабушки, которая застала свою бабушку (мою прапрабабушку) дело было такое... "Как пришли на Дон большевики, так сразу установили свои советы по всем станицам и призывали всех казаков, русских и украинцев туда захаживать. Мой отец был казаком настоящим и гордым, не хотел порочить честь семьи и ни в каких политических играл не принимал участия. Тогда в станице мы жили в разы лучше остальных, при империи нам никто не мешал работать и своим трудом мы ухаживали за полем, скотом и дичью. Рос тогда у нас и виноград и бахча и тыквы и всё-всё-всё что душе угодно, это было хорошее время для казаков не участвующих в Гражданской войне. Это мы трудились не покладая рук, да были среди наших соседей и те, кто уж точно даже не думал о подобном времени препровождении. Те, кто спал под заборами, просил милостыню и её же на самогон менял. Вот именно такие и шли в эти советы, где им с радостью давали задачу и ставили цель - собрать со станицы всё оружие и столько-то хлеба да зерна. Вот тут-то и понеслось. Мы ничего не могли поделать с тем, что всё нажитое честным трудом уходило от нас изо дня в день. А всё из-за того, что прятать то было бесполезно - он-то из наших и всё про всех знал. Слава Богу мой отец был человеков умным и крайне образованным, мы засаливали резали часть скота, засаливали мясо и прятали под землёй. Ели мы только по ночам. Однажды мы даже чуть не поплатились за то, что сильно засиделись до утра. Во дворе стоял стойкий запах борща, и когда он вошёл в курень нам пришлось сказать что мы ничего не знаем. После обыска у нас он отправился по другим домам, где расстрелял отца многодетного семейства... Это было очень жутко. В 39 году его показательно расстреляли и с того времени всё пошло в гору. Никто уже не боялся и мы снова обзавелись каким-никаким хозяйством и дела бы так и дальше улучшались, если бы не война... Опять и снова эти разруха, голод, смерть вперемешку со страхом. If anyone’s wondering: this song wrote Rassul Gamzatov- the USSR poet, he decided to write this song when he saw a memorial to a little girl with crane toys in Hiroshima ( the girl believed that her cranes will save her from the bomb ), on his way back to home he received a telegram with message that his mother died. When he finally came to his home he wrote this song in his national language, which a bit after was translated to Russian and this song became anti-war symbol, many monumental with cranes were open all over the globe.

Who didn't know: This song is dedicated to one North Ossetian family. Mother and Father sent 7 of their children to war, and all 7 did not return, at first the father could not stand it, and then the mother.

In Russia, many kindergartens and schools hold events on May 9 in memory of those killed in the Great Patriotic War. I remember when I heard this song in school, it was hard to make me cry, but this song was able to do it
I absolutely love Rinat Voligasmi, the artwork could've been unnamed and it would've been obvious, his work is so unique, except for him doing 342 trillion big dipper soldier guys, but they all look cool and I personally would love to have one or two of these painitngs.
I especially love his series about Sergei, Lenin's twin that dropped politics and became a muslim. It sounds like a complete shitpost and completly satirical but done with excelent craftsmanship
I hardly understood that but I assume you're talking about the painting. All I could make sense of it is that if I'm not missing, those are german Junkers (pronounced Yunkers) Ju 87s, so I assumed it was basically saying instead of bombing the ground, they were bombing the heavens. I guess referring to the cruelty of the nazis and how I might guess that that is the time the Lord in Heaven cried the most, due to the sheer amount and mass scale of the evil being committed, so not only was man killing each other, it was also sort of an "attack" on God. That or the bombs are coming back to the planes, basically killing themselves as many nazi generals did.

As you wander the ruined streets of the city you think back on what was the point. For months you’ve been forced to watch as your friends died in vain for piles of rubble now held by the enemy. You have had enough, you begin walking down the streets not going in any particular direction. You walk doing your best to avoid friend and foe alike. As you go the sounds of fighting become increasingly muffled as you retreat into your own thoughts. For you all that you can think to do is walk. And so you do. You walk off into obscurity, just another soldier, missing in action.
This came on my youtube mix while driving on an empty and rainy mountain highway under storm clouds that were underlit by a dying sunset. One of the most powerful moments for me this year.
One of my favorite songs of all times. Here, however, the addition of gunfire is rather odd as it doesn't quite jive with the mood and lyrics. The song places us at a time after the war when we remember and miss those who never returned from distant battlefields. The war is long over, the guns are silent, but what's left is this immense void in our souls left by sons, husbands, brothers and friends whom we'll never see again, who, like the white cranes above, are already in another realm, still so vivid but unreachable.

This is like when I was a kid and saw that museum exhibit ww2 through Russian eyes. The eastern front and its urban fighting as a child completed some strange fantasy of door to door city fighting I had in my head.

Respect to our ancestors who fought against nazism. Polish resistance fighters, Danish resistance fighters, French, Soviet soldiers, Chinese soldiers, Yugoslav partizans, Italian partizans, American and british soldiers, respect to all of those who dared to fight the nazi regime.
As a persian who their great grandmother and ancestors who suffered in hands of Soviet soldiers and English army I can not pay respect for they killed us in cold blood

4:00 I like this part here, it's like a hero in a war story that at the end get caught by a machinegun, and when he dies there is this pling sound at the end of the machinegun burst, I know, make no sense, but I like to imagine that this is the story because in my country there was a WW2 war veteran very known here, that died that way.
For those who don't know: this was a poem made by Rasul Gamzatov (sung by Mark Bernes) about a girl, that had suffered from leukemia after the nuclear explosion in Hiroshima. Her name was Sadako Sasaki. She hoped that she would heal if she made a thousand paper cranes using origami. In Asia, there's a belief that a person's wish will happen if they fold a thousand of origami pieces - cranes. Sadly, she succumbed to the disease in 1955 with her family by her bedside, even though she had folded well over a thousand paper birds.

There is such a thing. Not only immortal sorrow (where would it come from), it would seem...
That is, because in Russia we were always relied on ourselves: on 10 leaders there were only 2-4 which been working for their country. We didn't get any colonies for cheap work force or resources, this land was all we have. Just a bunch of towns, a lot of villages, a bunch of talented peoples and very small level of technology. Our future almost always comes with sadness, but we were pushing it together, hand by hand, shoulder to shoulder. And we firstly found it only in 19th century, when industrial revolution knock to our doors with 40-60 years of backlog to Europe. Then there was a Great War, which gave birth to two revolutions: 1st one was made by idiots, which just keep lying to us for 7-8 months. 2nd one was made by people which completed their promises, but with cost SUCH great, so we still can not fully believe what we made right choice. By the way, 20th century was a golden age for Russia and other countries of USSR.
This could be not that truly history (because my English is not that good and what I prefer to learn history of last two centuries). But I hope I gave ya a kind of understanding how our (and other countries of Russian Empire, and USS republics) history feels to me. (btw, I think what people with better middle-age history knowledge will say more)
This brings up many interesting points. The people of Russia are beautiful. I must say though, as someone who has spent nearly their entire life researching history, thay I cannot agree with you on the state of the USSR. I do agree that the Soviet Union had it’s golden age but, it started out as a bloody massacre. I, myself, am a socialist. But, Stalin was a fascist dictator who ruled with force. Millions of his own country men dead at his hands. He was a fascist under the guise of socialism. He replaced community with the party. This is not an attack on the people of eastern Europe, however. Again, I acknowledge that the USSR had it’s golden age. It also had it’s downfall.. At the end of the day, I believe that the ideal system for human prosperity would be a socialist, democratic, libertarian, republic. People governing themselves and taking care of eachother. Earning their way into society by participating and making their community a better place.

Начался процесс индустриализации ударными темпами, наращивание оборонной промышленности. Такая обширная индустриализация требовала гения-руководителя роль которого возглавил Иосиф Виссарионович. Менее чем за 15 лет произошло невозможное. Рост экономики составил 13.5% в год!!! Это мировой рекорд для всей планеты. Говорить о том, какие возможности открылись перед населением, не считаю нужным. К 36 году СССР был безусловным лидером на материке, а к 37 году окончательно сложилась профессиональная армия, вооружённая по последнему слову техники. Более половины всего командного состава - коммунисты, верные товарищи своих подчинённых. В высших военных кругах стоят большие патриоты своей Родины, которые каждый день тратят максимум усилий для укрепления рубежей страны.
По поводу чисток - это было ужасно. Множество миллионов погибли. Но поверьте на слово, товарищ Сталин в этом не виноват. В высших кругах чистки устраивали сотрудники НКВД, которые подчинялись наркому внутренних дел СССР, то есть - Ежову, потом Ягоде, опять Ежову и затем с 38 года - Берии. Они все отсчитывались перед Сталиным и он сам на них опирался. Как итог - в 38 расстреляли Ягоду, в 40 - Ежова, а Берия погиб позже Сталина, но тоже из-за раскалённого свинца во лбу - в 1955 году от рук КГБшников, которых отправил такой же предатель как и он сам - Никита Сергеевич Хрущёв.
Что же происходило у народа? Было время когда было крайне жутко и, действительно, можно было сравнивать только с немецкой оккупацией. По словам моей бабушки, которая застала свою бабушку (мою прапрабабушку) дело было такое... "Как пришли на Дон большевики, так сразу установили свои советы по всем станицам и призывали всех казаков, русских и украинцев туда захаживать. Мой отец был казаком настоящим и гордым, не хотел порочить честь семьи и ни в каких политических играл не принимал участия. Тогда в станице мы жили в разы лучше остальных, при империи нам никто не мешал работать и своим трудом мы ухаживали за полем, скотом и дичью. Рос тогда у нас и виноград и бахча и тыквы и всё-всё-всё что душе угодно, это было хорошее время для казаков не участвующих в Гражданской войне. Это мы трудились не покладая рук, да были среди наших соседей и те, кто уж точно даже не думал о подобном времени препровождении. Те, кто спал под заборами, просил милостыню и её же на самогон менял. Вот именно такие и шли в эти советы, где им с радостью давали задачу и ставили цель - собрать со станицы всё оружие и столько-то хлеба да зерна. Вот тут-то и понеслось. Мы ничего не могли поделать с тем, что всё нажитое честным трудом уходило от нас изо дня в день. А всё из-за того, что прятать то было бесполезно - он-то из наших и всё про всех знал. Слава Богу мой отец был человеков умным и крайне образованным, мы засаливали резали часть скота, засаливали мясо и прятали под землёй. Ели мы только по ночам. Однажды мы даже чуть не поплатились за то, что сильно засиделись до утра. Во дворе стоял стойкий запах борща, и когда он вошёл в курень нам пришлось сказать что мы ничего не знаем. После обыска у нас он отправился по другим домам, где расстрелял отца многодетного семейства... Это было очень жутко. В 39 году его показательно расстреляли и с того времени всё пошло в гору. If anyone’s wondering: this song wrote Rassul Gamzatov- the USSR poet, he decided to write this song when he saw a memorial to a little girl with crane toys in Hiroshima ( the girl believed that her cranes will save her from the bomb ), on his way back to home he received a telegram with message that his mother died. When he finally came to his home he wrote this song in his national language, which a bit after was translated to Russian and this song became anti-war symbol, many monumental with cranes were open all over the globe.

I absolutely love Rinat Voligasmi, the artwork could've been unnamed and it would've been obvious, his work is so unique, except for him doing 342 trillion big dipper soldier guys, but they all look cool and I personally would love to have one or two of these painitngs.

I hardly understood that but I assume you're talking about the painting. All I could make sense of it is that if I'm not missing, those are german Junkers (pronounced Yunkers) Ju 87s, so I assumed it was basically saying instead of bombing the ground, they were bombing the heavens. I guess referring to the cruelty of the nazis and how I might guess that that is the time the Lord in Heaven cried the most, due to the sheer amount and mass scale of the evil being committed, so not only was man killing each other, it was also sort of an "attack" on God. That or the bombs are coming back to the planes, basically killing themselves as many nazi generals did.

You have had enough, you begin walking down the streets not going in any particular direction. You walk doing your best to avoid friend and foe alike. As you go the sounds of fighting become increasingly muffled as you retreat into your own thoughts. For you all that you can think to do is walk. And so you do. You walk off into obscurity, just another soldier, missing in action.

One of my favorite songs of all times. Here, however, the addition of gunfire is rather odd as it doesn't quite jive with the mood and lyrics. The song places us at a time after the war when we remember and miss those who never returned from distant battlefields. The war is long over, the guns are silent, but what's left is this immense void in our souls left by sons, husbands, brothers and friends whom we'll never see again, who, like the white cranes above, are already in another realm, still so vivid but unreachable.
think of it this way; The war is over, the guns are silent, our close ones are gone, but in your head, the maschine gun fire never ceased. Artillery shells are still dropping even 20 years after war is over

In Asia, there's a belief that a person's wish will happen if they fold a thousand of origami pieces - cranes. Sadly, she succumbed to the disease in 1955 with her family by her bedside, even though she had folded well over a thousand paper birds.
At least she didn't give up untill her last breath. Not everybody is able to do this in the face of inevitable end.
