Rune Stone Knots are more so an innovative tying technique than anything else. Still, the knot makes an excellent addition to a cord you seek to gift as a necklace. And the coolest part of the necklace created is that it, and its Rune Stone Knot medallion, were both created with one strip of rope or cord. Video Production by JD of Tying It All Together.

I am amazed at how mind numbingly easy this is, yet I couldn't figure it out for the life of me by just looking at it. haha a great knot I have to admit, thank you for the teachings of it. :)

Aside from the niftiness of the knot, I want to compliment you on your demonstration technique. Your slow and deliberate pace, combined with frequent pauses, gives time for even the rankest novice to absorb what you're doing. It's very easy for an expert to forget that not everyone has a comparable level of skill, a mistake you clearly do not make. I'm off to look at some of your other videos!

Your videos are good & go at the perfect pace for me to follow along but that music is hypnotic & puts me in a trance. I have to turn the volume down. Otherwise, as soon as the video ends, my eyes open and the paracord is in my lap or the floor, lol!

I was looking for an idea for the lower section (or beginnings) of a neck lanyard/ ID holder. I believe the smaller example will fit the bill. The bottom of the smaller one leaves 2 small loops to which I could attach a split ring, to which I will then attach my ID clip. (yes, I'm a newb to the whole paracord/ ornamental knot craft). Great, simple video. I'll have to start with plenty of length so as to ensure that I have enough to finish off the neck part.

I guess you could then use a red cord to kind of sew-through and make a rune on the rune-stone knot. Like 'elhaz' \|/ or 'ken' < or whatever. Nice knot JD, thanks for posting!

Maybe you could buy some wooden dowels (cylindrical sticks) to lengthen the knot. Of course, it would require more cord, but I think it would work a bit better than fingers and toes.

Hi guys , i've just known about the knots and i love it so much. I watched hundred videos about tying knots and i think JD ( this channel ) has the best tutorials of tying knots. I really want to try it but i don't know where to buy paracord and the paracord is very expensive ( actually i'm very poor ) . So could you guys tell me if i don't use the paracord , which material could i used to tying knots like JD ? and does it nice as the paracord ?
    THANKS

Cometmoon asked one year ago: "How did this knot get it's name?"
One guess on my part might be "due to its shape". Right? And "rune stone" rather than "beehive" might be the original tier's personal preference of association. Would that be correct?
