  • In this video you will learn the good, the bad, and the ugly, ALL ABOUT CORGIS! I go over all the pros and the cons that come along with having a corgi.
    Sidenote: you will notice I don't have any good videos of Willo being athletic but I promise corgis have major skills! I am hoping to get Willo in some dog sports this fall, and I have seen some amazingly athletic corgis on instagram :)

    Willo is best known for being the corgi howling while eating! She is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi living in sunny Phoenix Arizona. She's been howling while eating since she was about 4 months old. We call the noise she makes an "Awoo"

    Bossy is another characteristic of a Corgi. I have a Corgi and a Yorkie and the Corgi likes to boss the Yorkie around. That's her being a herding dog. Both are very smart breeds so it's fun to watch the Yorkie try to out smart the Corgi when she's being bossy.

    I really appreciate you trying to show the real side of having a Corgi. One of the downsides of a breed becoming popular is how many of them end up in shelters because people don't really understand what is involved in having a dog. We have always had rescued Corgis and our current boy was pretty badly treated before he came to us. He has back leg issues from being constantly crated and had a mouth full of broken teeth from biting at bars trying to get out. He was difficult to handle, so they just shoved him in a cage. Thank you for maybe helping one less dog be discarded.

    Watching my corgi in the woods on full alert is very cool. His nose is twitching, his ears move independently and vibrate, his eyes are darting around.

    I'm curious to know how often you give Willow a frozen Kong treat and the treat puzzles. I haven't been able to find a good consistency for my 10 month old corgi, Arthur. He's got insane amounts of energy 😂🤦

    • @devonandwillo
      @devonandwillo  Před 2 lety +5

      Willo gets treat puzzles about 3-4 times a week and the kong can be use just as often or more often depending on what you're putting in it. You could try using these things to. feed your corgi though! Either stuff his food in a kong or hide it in a treat puzzle. It'll. tire him out while he eats!

    My cavoodle (also known as a Cavapoo in the US) loves his food. We bought him a bowl designed so it’s more difficult to eat from so he eats slower, it never worked really and he’s finished his dinner within 2 minutes. Do you have any tips to slow this? He gets plenty food but I’m not sure if it’s enough for him.

    • @abcdefgabcdefg3436
      @abcdefgabcdefg3436 Před 2 lety

      This is an old comment, but you can elevate the bowl so that the dog must eat at a different angle making it harder to eat.

  • @MarieElenaCambria1
    @MarieElenaCambria1 Před rokem

    _the "Pops" in between statements is a distraction._ Otherwise this is adorable. Know your Corgi will not "grow up" until approximately 6 yrs of age. Mine is 10. She looks and acts like an average 5 yr old dog. She is extremely active when we throw the ball each night or during walks but very chill and laid back while in the home. This girl can jump too - often very high to catch her ball esp. in deep snow. The only "Destruction" or destructive behavior is when she starts pulling the innards out of one of her "babies" that is beat up anyway. She is beyond patient with me I deserves a reward for devotion as I have a rare illness and have had days when I cannot give her as much attention as she truly deserves. She is a true hero in my eyes. She never complains. ♥ Having another dog or esp Corgi or even a cat (that they cannot boss around) is a great idea when having to leave your Corgi-mon alone for long periods of time during the day. Two Corgis are indeed better than one. Do NOT Breed. Do not until you understand the great responsibility & cost associated with breeding and genetic illnesses associated with this Breed. Always find a verify a trusted breeder for any advice who successfully breeds "Clear" dogs.
    BTW: Quality feed and care equal a longer live span and fewer vet bills.
