  • The third video in a trilogy of modern Lotus reviews. The Evora is Lotus' attempt at the everyday sports car. With its backseat, creature comforts, and torquey V6, let's see how Rob's 2011 Evora S (supercharged) differs from the Exige/Elise, and discuss how it stacks up against my original Acura NSX.

    I also own an Evora s after owning a 997 careers s and wow, what a difference. if you love driving, the lotus is on another level. it's also a brilliant track car and the apex speed in corners is mind blowing. although it only has 350bhp, which is not a lot in modern cars, it is by far the quickest 350 bhp car i have come across. it's a shame lotus didn't sell many and I call it lotus' best kept secret.

      I'm eager to try a 997 C2S. Heard so many great things about that car.

      I think the 997 is the best modern 911 generation as the 991 is too refined and the 996 is....well, built on a tight budget. The 997 still feels raw but it is a very different car from the lotus. The front end is extremely light, which bobs up and down over bumpy roads and Porsche engineered understeer into the car for safety reasons, which is a big no no for me. Most of the understeer can be dialled out with some mods and trailing the brakes. It has tremendous rear grip, allowing you to get the power down very early out of corners. It is a very rewarding car to drive as it takes a very skilled driver to get the most of the 997 but if you don't respect it, then it will bite you in the arse. The biggest difference is that the Lotus inspires confidence while the Porker requires confidence to push the car. I prefer the Lotus :)

      Davie man you are right. The Evora S is an incredible drivers car.

    BMW i8 is also mid-engine 2+2 (I've even seen one with four grown men inside). Thanks for making this, Lotus Evora content is pretty scarce on youtube. Hoping the enthusiast community will continue to forget about this car for another year while I save up for one...

    Good stuff, I like the casual discussion, you guys hits some great points. I like the look of the Evora, and I love that supercharger whine!

      As a fellow NSX owner, I think you'd agree the Evora is reminiscent of our cars. You should test drive one!

      Sounds like a good comparison. Certainly seems like a better NSX than the new one lol

    Enjoying the Lotus reviews you've done. I was tempted by a non-S Evora - it's a great car, but decided to keep my Elise as there's nothing quite like the experience they provide. The new Evora 400 just got a glowing review by Road and Track.

    • @Zygrene
      @Zygrene  Před 8 lety

      +Craig Yirush Thanks Craig! I think you made the right choice. The Elise fits my driving style best out of the 3 Lotuses I've reviewed. Although there is really no wrong choice here.

    Great review. As a supercharged Elise owner, I get a kick out of seeing someone falling under the Lotus spell once they drive one :) You get great info out in your vids. I can't wait 'til I can get behind the wheel of an Evora 400.

    Just watched this again. Really makes me want an Evora S. One thing - taking the roof off wouldn't reduce the stiffness at all as the chassis is an aluminum tub (rumor says there'll be a 400 roadster).

    • @Zygrene
      @Zygrene  Před 7 lety

      That's a good callout, Craig. In that case, top down all the way!

    Great review, good to see someone who is knowledgeable and knows how to drive. If anyone is looking, I have a 2011 Evora with 3K miles for sale. Asking $49.8K, original owner (sorry don't want to hijack but just in case thought I'd post). I'm subscribed, keep the reviews coming, great work!

    It's perhaps worth pointing out that for only 30-45k you can get a base Evora, and that engine will easily get over 300hp for a little bit of money, at a big discount to an NSX.

    2 years late and it’s likely already been mentioned but I’ll wax pedantic a bit here because internet... but ANYWAY, ehem, the Evora doesn’t have coilover strut suspension but rather double wishbones all around. There, fixed ! Otherwise, nice review ! 👍
