Thought for the day.
The graves of warriors who have given their lives for the Emperor now outnumber the stars themselves.
DaLonelySheperd relax I’ve been back for a long time. Besides there is more to the whole affair than a single man don’t you think? 🤔
With some fortune, they may foster this hatred into purpose, and further rule their own fate by coming into the emperor's service. Every man and woman, every guardsmen, gray knight, blood raven, every angel of death, will say the same thing. No matter the cost, the enemies of the emperor will die by my hand, or my brothers. Death to dissidents, death to all foreign life, no exception. Death to heresy, for heresy and freedom are lies. The emperor protects
Actually, with a million worlds and an average population of a billion each (lowballing it), assuming PDF numbers comparable to modern-day USA, with one-tenth drafted into the Astra Militarum... We end up with about three times as many Guardsmen as there are stars in the Milky Way galaxy.
Assume an astonishingly low 1% overall casualty rates annually (to account for the fact that it is rarely the _entire_ galaxy in flames, at any given time, and long stretches of "peace" between the big threats), multiplied by ten thousand years, and you have 60,000,000,000,000, or sixty trillion graves to fill.
Of course, with a more reasonable population estimate of ten times that, possibly higher conscription rates as well, and a casualty rate _at least_ two or three times higher... Not to forget, this is counting _only_ the Astra Militarum (and Navy, arguably); not PDF, not Conscripts, and not Civilians - all of whom die just as if not more often.
@@Siathuan about 10b galaxies in the (observable)universe: avg 100b stars each. Thats a number with 21 zeros in it. >_> ...i forget what comes after decillion. novenonagintanongentillion is actually a word. i learnt something today!
@@gabbonoo 1E21 is a sextillion, using short notation, or a trillion if you're old-fashioned and using long notation.
Using my earlier estimates, assuming things continue more-or-less on the same scale, that would take 5 billion years for the Astra Militarum to fill those graves, 500 million if you count the PDF, and we get down to about 5 million years if you include everyone in the Imperium who dies fighting in the Emperor's Name.
The Universe is a very, _very_ big place.

Same here. The seriousness of the lore and the story itself in that game became clear, and there were stakes and all of that, but also a history too epic to fit in the game and it just became a perfect storm of greatness and heroism.
Una “guerra santa” in tutto e per tutto
the fall of isidor
The facts that it plays the first time tell you that there's no need to be afraid, for He watches over you.
The fact this plays during the mission to kill Isador hits harder. The religious lyrics get you feeling the holy war vibe (you're fighting against heretics after all) but the solemnity of the track itself makes you feel sad that your friend has fallen from grace and has to die by your hand

I remember when I first heard this song. It was on the level fighting Isador and the Bloodthirster. It was so haunting, here this beautiful chant as my Space Marines fought tooth and nail against hordes of raving cultists, gibbering daemons, and their ravenous traitor brethren. Out-numbered and out-gunned, they took to their task with brutal, stoic silence, never faltering, every Bolt round bringing righteousness. I will never forget the power the level had on me, thanks to this song.
The Emperor protects.
I think they already played it at the first Chaos level which must be 2 levels before you execute Isador. What an epic campaign, wish they would just redo the game instead of doing DoW III which doesn't look promissing yet.
soo true
I was playing the ultimate apocalypse mod and I was one of the imperium faction which has the inquistion in it. then this played and I felt like I was in some imperial sanctuary. It gave a feeling of comfort strangely, but then there was the struggle of fighting chaos daemons that would attack my sanctuary. honestly it felt deep for some strange reason. wish the would add larger more gothus style buildings. I want a fortress castle or something with lots of guns and cannons man.

It's amazing how ancient this sounds when you think that it is still quite young compared to the real gregorian chants. But then that's the feeling that 40k always does and always should create: ancient and epic!
But it is real chant. It is Pange Lingua (although with a nice remix) about the Eucharistic sacrifice and sacred meal. It is often chanted on Holy Thursday on the eve before Good Friday in commemoration of the True God Emperor of mankind.
Damn I´d go to that church ;)

I really wish humanity would unite like this. The emperor protects!
Unite under a dystopian future?
Dystopian? Well that has to be highly personal. I don’t consider it that. Empires aren’t meant to last because the masses are mostly compromised of idiots and it’s hard to keep them in line. There are a multitude of reasons why an empire vanished and a CZcams thread maybe isn’t the best forum for a discussion haha ;) but it’s my personal thought. I don’t believe in equal worth for all humans, and I don’t believe in democracy.
This song for me reflects the Imperium perfectly, holy with sadness. Humanity loyal to a cause against an uncertain future and with no one to truly guide them anymore.
the chaos lords win
There is Guilliman now and the Emperor is waking up.
But I still believe that Humanity's future in 40k is with the Necrons
@@gustavoritter7321 That's the reason why modern 40k is no longer the real 40k that we had before. The whole point of the Imperium is that it's pointless in it's existence. It has no leader and no other purpose than to continue existing as it has. An eternal status qou. This makes the setting grimdark, as all the sacrifice the citizens of the Imperium make and the Emperor Makes will never end, and will never result in final victory. Now with Girlyman there is a hope for a better future, which just doesn't have a right to exist in the 40k setting
@@michalszymanski791 Err not really. I think that the story is now making a point that the Imperium can win if it gets better and that the whole idiocy and evilness of the High Lords and the Inquisition dragged the Imperium down. But as I said, I still think that the Necrons are at the end of the day the true protagonists of 40k.

I remember listening to this back in 2004. I stopped on that level when I had a chance to halt the enemy and let this song play by itself. It haunted, sundered and rocked still both of my parents. They stood silent and still, and listened, not only to the voices raised in exultation to the God Emperor of Mankind, but to something more grim and yet worthy of remembrance something I still can't fathom. Those long gone? Youth lost? Regrets not penned but mimic'd in sound and song? I know not but this, to remember what honor feels like and how to take solace I reach back in my memories and grip this song, as hard and as desperate as a sapling for water and light, same as a soul would, looking for the salvation of the guiding light of the Emperor himself.
The music in this song is actually a christian hymn from 800 years ago.
"Pange lingua gloriosi corporis mysterium" (text translated into english from latin)
Tell, tongue, the mystery
of the glorious Body
and of the precious Blood,
which, for the price of the world,
the fruit of a noble Womb,
the King of the Nations poured forth.
Given to us, born for us,
from the untouched Virgin,
and dwelt in the world
after the seed of the Word had been scattered.
His inhabiting ended the delays
with wonderful order.
On the night of the Last Supper,
reclining with His brethren,
once the Law had been fully observed
with the prescribed foods,
as food to the crowd of Twelve
He gives Himself with His hands.
The Word as Flesh makes true bread
into flesh by a word
and the wine becomes the Blood of Christ.
And if sense is deficient
to strengthen a sincere heart
Faith alone suffices.
Therefore, the great Sacrament
let us reverence, prostrate:
and let the old Covenant
give way to a new rite.
Let faith stand forth as substitute
for defect of the senses.
To the Begetter and the Begotten
be praise and jubilation,
greeting, honour, strength also
and blessing.
To the One who proceeds from Both
be equal praise.
Amen, Alleluia.

Like clay I shall mould them and in the furnace of war forge them.
They will be of iron will and steely muscle.
In great armour shall I clad them and with the mightiest guns will they be armed.
They will be untouched by plague or disease, no sickness will blight them.
They will have tactics, strategies and machines such that no foe can best them in battle.
They are my bulwark against the Terror.
They are the Defenders of Humanity.
They are my Space Marines...
...and they shall know no fear.

That we not only serve and die for him?
But also for each other for it is what he wanted for all of humanity.

This piece was written almost 1000 years ago. It's an actual church Gregorian piece written by Thomas Aquinas
There is only the Emperor...he is our shield and protector...
~Whispered prayer by an imperial citizen, as a Tyranid Hive Fleet descends upon her world...
Quite dramatic really.. The Emperor Protects!
Death is my shield! Hate is my sword!
Faith unshakable. That day her soul found eternal joy in the neverending love of the Emperor's bosom.
I'm going to be bold enough to say that Warhammer 40k is the best si fi franchise there is. I have never seen a larger more welly written and detailed universe as this. And it has the potential to be the biggest thing in gaming and even cinema. I'm only hoping that GW will eventually see this and change their' business practices and put this universe out there to make it more popular, rather than keeping it in the dark, known to a relatively small community.
Amandeep Kumar Yeah I guess so. Still it would be nice to see the game become a little more popular.
I love this universe, but I don't think it's going to be very popular one day (like, say, Star Wars); I think it's a bit too gritty and bleak to be mainstream. Even as a fan, I sometimes find the Warhammer 40K universe very irritating with its "all is dark and there is no hope approach" - but I love it nonetheless.
Lord Shadoko Well 7th edition did make some changes to the lore. Which has given mankind allot of hope. And the story has moved forward in 7th which is also in the Imperiums favor. But yeah, there is still only WAR.
+BJJGamer Where can I read that new update in the lore?
MrOzon It's a 7th edition table top supplement called Damoclese, which focuses on the Imperium's revived war with the Tau. It adds new lore such as how it takes place in M42 and how the 13th black crusade was defeated etc. You may be able to find it online, just don't bother with wiki or lexicanum.
"Pain now! Reward in the afterlife!"
+The Vengeful One "WE LIVE AND DIE AS BROTHERS!"
It is better to die for the Emperor than live for yourself.
This is so epic!
one of the many sad things in 40k, not that the emperor fell, but that he was humanity's last hope to begin with, that humans had fallen so much for him to be as such, and that even with all that, he still was not enough
He wasn't "the last hope" He was THE only hope. And He still is.
He who hangeth out with the Emperor is a righteous and awesome dude.
When the music plays while doing mission 8 in Dawn of war. Instead of bringing suspense and suspense, it made me feel tragic by a fratricidal war that lasted for ten thousand years.
I got hit hard by that track when it kicked in back then in the days. It opened my mind for how deep 40k is.
Same, I realized with seriousness that the world of w40k is violent but majestic in its immensity. My instinct told me fear at the time.
Thought for the day:
Reason begets doubt; Doubt begets heresy.
'Listen but closely Brothers, for my life's breath is all but spent. There shall come a time far from now when our Chapter itself is dying, even as I am now dying, and our foes shall gather to destroy us. Then my children, I shall listen for your call in whatever realm of death holds me, and come I shall, no matter what the laws of life and death forbid. At the end I will be there. For the final battle. For the Wolftime.
LEMAN RUSS WILL RETURN
A foe without honour is a foe already beaten.
i am probably never going to take that picture seriously again
I have some things to say...
+Marcin Zyśko Are you now, little centuribear?
+Marcin Zyśko Yey
+Marcin Zyśko I am motherfucking emperor, my son...
+Marcin Zyśko About fucking time.
The God-Emperor lives for us, the least we can do is die for Him.
The best soundtrack in the whole score. Applied very much for a movie setting.
Chant with me cousins. For the redemption of lost souls. Ave ave imperator
For the glory of the Imperium !
WE ARE THE EMPRAH'S FUREH!
Most Haunting music ever produced. It reminds me of the Ancients, tucked far away in some galaxy, waiting for their children to wake them from their slumber. It also tells me about the new horizons uncovered, new suns discovered, new people and new worlds found.
I can't look at that picture of the Emperor anymore without hearing him talk via a Text-to-Speech Device. Bruva Alfabusa has changed how I view the Man Emperor of Mankind forever.
I find this for, some unexplainable reason, remarkably useful for claiming me down.
The Emperor wishes you not to be stressed my friend.
Go kill some orcs to lay off the steam brother
Of all religious music created by man, I find that Gregorian chant most conveys the promise of heaven to the listener. And what could be more soothing than that?
"Once a Novice Cantus came to me, troubled and uncertain. A slip of a girl, only a few strides down the eternal path leading her to the Golden Throne. She asked me a question. She asked me how we can ever truly understand what Faith is. I told her there was no coin to measure what we feel in our hearts. There are no scales upon which we might weigh the faith of one woman against another. There is only duty and blood. There are only deeds and words. There is only service to the God Emperor, and the price that demands from each Sister can only be known by Him. But know that whatever fears must be faced, whatever hardships endured, that price is worth the full cost."
- Sister Katherine Elysius, Daughter of the Emperor ( later Imperial Saint Katherine) from "Hammer and Anvil"

from the number of views and likes it is as if this video is really the sanctuary of the golden throne where everyone passes and leaves homage to the emperor, between comments or simple listening .... in an endless line of devotees ...
and some Heretics...
Many of us remain here to forever guard it until death. Many of us wait when it’s our time to join the emperors ranks.
Zapiera dech.

Też fan Warhammera40000 to serdecznie pozdrawiam.
Za Imperatora to i można ginąć.
Chociaż lepiej ginąć i walczyć dalej za pomocą stali drednota.
I cried listening to this holiness.
Pange Lingua Gloriosi in fragments, and with this kind of music. Magnificent
"Although the Golden Throne of Terra orbits a distant star far from here, the Emperor's hand is on your shoulders today." -- General Sturnn, Commander, Cadian 412th, Imperial Guard
"You are finished Apothecary. Had the Emperor not intend I suffer, then I would feel no pain." Gabriel Angelos, Captain, Blood Ravens 3rd Company
Beautiful music! Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War games are the best! FOR THE EMPEROR!
HERETIC!!!!
;) SHHHHH
WELL I DON.....I mean..YES I DO
This conversation is over.
Blood for the Blood God
By Khorne it will be done
This honestly feels like a song of guilt that the Emperor may be feeling in a way. For having to lie to his sons about the powers of chaos, for having to sacrifice many. I know the Emperor is generally seen as cold and emotionless, but in moments he has shown some semblance of compassion. And I feel now he has this type of guilt in him for failing humanity in a way. Or this can be seen as how any veterans view the current state of the Imperium, and how they look upon the Emperor for hope that one day, one moment, hope may arrive. That mankind will return to its former glory and accomplish its destiny of being the dominant species and bringing peace to this galaxy. Hoping that what this “Imperium” is now will truly run under hope, and not deception. Though when that time arrives is for humanity’s own fate to decide.
Success... is commemorated, failure merely remembered; for victory needs no explanation - defeat allows none.
"We failed father. You failed your sons and we in turn failed you. And now to compound our arrogance and vainglory we have failed all of them too. Did Horus not say you sought godhood? He built his rebellion on that claim. Oh, how he would gloat and laugh at the state of the Imperium now."
