  • In this video we take you on a fun hike crossing the Escalante River 12 times while in search of a natural bridge, a natural arch and an amazing wall of petroglyphs. If you're looking for an easy 4.5 mile hike with little elevation change near the town of Escalante, this is a good one.

Great video! Would you recommend taking an extra pair of sandals or flip-flops for the creek crossings, or was it okay to hike in wet shoes?

We wear Ultra trail runners, basically a tennis shoe with an aggressive tread for trails. They're lightweight and dry quickly. On this hike we crossed the stream a total of 12 times so we decided to just stay in our hiking shoes. If all you have is hiking boots, you might consider just doing this hike in a pair of tennis/running shoes.
