Benevidez beats Canelo! Canelo has really declined the last few years. Canelo is doing everything to avoid the fight. If Canelo takes a lesser opponent and vacates next year it's because he is afraid of Benevidez. At this point, I have David on the PFP list as Canelo is avoiding him for a reason.

Benevidaz performance against Andrade doesn’t translate to beating other opponents with different styles the same way. The respect Benevidaz has for Canelo’s talent can make him think twice about certain combinations and angles. And that applies to each individual fighter. Benevidaz knew he was going to eat Andrade up in their fight. I don’t think he feels the same against Canelo.
Canelo won't be running, he'll be right there at mid/close range. It will be a great fight v benavidez
Feel like im in the minority here. Cannot see Canelo beating David. Not now. Certainly awhile back, but not now. My opinion is David stops Canelo late if they fight, and Canelo retires afterwards.

Great interview. At the 16:00 minute mark Abel Sanchez is told that “many people say Benavidez is too big, too strong, too much volume, too much pressure… he’s going to just wear down Canelo.”
Abel Sanchez references the Bivol fight and says he was bigger and couldn’t finish Canelo. To ALL boxing fans, pay close attention to what I say next:
Bivol gave Canelo to much respect and used the jab to keep him at bay and just get the W. I can tell he regrets fighting conservative and wished he would’ve knocked him out (I think he could have had he applied pressure- which is the outcome I expect should Canelo be stupid enough to get in the ring with Bivol again. Benavidez is a light heavyweight fighter still able to make the Super Middleweight max weight due to his youth. If Benavidez applies the same pressure Bivol should have, this will end in a KO by a slurry of body punches that will leave Canelo open to the head.
I’ll leave you all with my favorite boxing quote of all time:

Big/small, don’t matter. Styles make fights. Canelo is straight F’d if he fights Benavidez which is why he doesn’t want that smoke. One thing is for certain… when two champions fight who are equal in skill, the bigger guy ALWAYS wins. Key word equal. Bivol and Canelo.. equal and look what happened. I think Benavidez would actually put on a better show then Bivol did.

@@moneymannn7959 and canelo is on the decline, it’s noticeable, Benavidez landed more punches on Andrade in 6 rounds than canelo and charlo landed put together in their fight in 12 rounds, Charlo didn’t muster any attack on canelo to test canelos stamina, canelo fought at his own tempo, rested enough during the rounds and between rounds knowing charlo wasn’t a threat. Benavidez won’t let that happen, his work rate speaks for itself, and his conditioning as well.

Cancel Canelo for doing all the heavy? Prior to Canelo entering the 168 picture there hadn't even been a unification since '13 with all the champs remaining in their separate corners and Benavidez was the main culprit who repeatedly dumped the same belt like a hot potato without facing his mandatories Callum Smith and Yildirim and rejected a Plant unification. It was Canelo who stepped in and did all the work David had no motivation for and became the first fighter to unify 4 belts. And so far Canelo has done everything he's supposed to with mandatory not being due until September, yet haters complain anyway and praise Benavidez who didn't start to step up his opposition until 10 years into the division and that was fighting one of Canelo's leftovers.

I think Abel is wrong being a mandatory means you've earned your chance to fight the best. If not it would be a popularity contest on who fights who. Benavidez is a beast and no one gets to be in the driver seat. You have to ride the ride and alway prove you're the best! Not cherry picking opponents.

There was good wisdom in this interview. I agree with Abel on most things except I would say that Andrade stood no chance against Benavidez mainly because he's naturally bigger and hits too hard, and secondly Andrade does not hit hard enough, and Benavidez fought smarter. It does seem Matias would be bad news for all others at 140 right now. Also I agree that Ryan has a high chance of beating Teo due to punching power and speed of delivery with Teo being so hittable. Ryan even landed hard on Tank a few times but Teo won't be as evasive.

Everyone becomes an expert after the fight, before the fight, only LonnieB said Andrade has 0 chance, everybody else was saying 50:50. It’s just like Crawford, nobody in the world saw that outcome, now all of a sudden Crawford goes up to 68 and kills Canela. Everyone an expert after a fight. I think Benavidez will be a tall ask for Canela, will be a fight we have to watch to see how it plays out.

Fascinating conversation to say the least. I really dig Abel. I’ve been watching fights since the fifties and on March 8 ,1971 drove 100 miles to watch Ali/Frazier at the Garden in an auditorium. Team GGG insisted on a Mexican style fight and wanted things to favor the aggressor believing it would be GGG but Canelo turned the tables and beat him at his own game, by his own standards and with his own handpick judge and own trainer Abel signing off. Abel himself was telling him he was losing in the corner and said in the post fight that it's "ridiculous" to not give Canelo credit for doing what he's supposed to. Meanwhile the judges were trying to hand the third fight to GGG but he wouldn't let his hands go because he was still having Mexican style PSTD.
GGG had stopped claiming Mexican style ever since all the damage he took in the second fight and even changed trainers to adopt a different style which didn't play to his strengths.
