This Porto travel guide, we visit Portugal for the first time. Trying the local delicacy and probably the world's weirdest sandwich, the francesinha. There is so much good Portuguese food and we are already addicted to the Pastel de nata.
We experience the local Port around the city after a tour at Taylors then take a river cruise down the Douro. There are so many things to do in Porto, you won't be bored.
Pastel de nata - Manteigaria
Port Tour - Taylors
Francesinha - O Afonso

In 2017 we left home with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a sustainable travel lifestyle happen! We are now living our dream as digital nomads and want to inspire you to create your own story, whatever it may be!
After 5 years of aimless, yet enjoyable, backpacking around the world we found ourselves in New York City battling with depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head-on. After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle.
Our time spent battling depression has influenced our outlook on life dramatically! We are now traveling the world in search of what makes us happy. In our vlogs, we talk openly and honestly about our travel experiences, the digital nomad life and depression. We hope our videos can help to inspire you to create a life that makes you happy!

8:10 And this attitude is EXACTLY why so many people have a distaste for the English, arrogance is not a virtue!
Exactly, nothing new!
He's joking
yes, it was a joke, oh my the world is sad today.
I thought jokes were funny.
If you didn't feel the spice in the sauce, either portwine hit you hard or Afonso is no longer a place to go!
Normally we throw chips around francesinha, let them soak the sauce and eat them before they are soggy.
By the way , "francesinha" means little french girl in portuguese, as it was inspired on french croque monsieur
I showed this video to my portugese workmates today, just the francesinha part ....they were drooling on my phone screen. They all know what it is and they miss not having them in England.
We got in Peterborough Maria Celeste made it so delicious 😋came and enjoyed
I hated francesinha... But them i Started do eat, and now i m addicted
I ate that sandwich cold sober.... and I can’t stop thinking about. I CRAVE it! EAT THE SANDWICH! 😉
Francesinha's are best eaten when hungry, I know from experience they are very tasty but filling. One of my friends lives and works in Porto, so it's a city I've visited many times over the last decade or so. Sadly because of recent events I haven't been over there for a couple of years, but maybe I'll go again soon. I appreciate Alex's opinions on things, he is at least honest.
OMG! ❤️
My husband and brother-in-law are totally passionate about Francesinha, we went to Porto in 2019 and our last day in town were raining, so, they made us enter in almost every restaurant in our itinerary to eat a Francesinha and elect the best one. They shared about 5 sandwiches (I still don't know how they did it, I shared one with my mother-in-law and was already full 😂).
Pastel de nata (egg custard) is the best desert ever, I loveee it!
So good to "revisit" this beautiful place through your video.
Great video, as always.
Well...I rather have that sandwich than your fish and chips 😂
Está malta não sabem nada do que é bom !
@@armandodossantos9535 é dificil perceberem qualidade quando não sabem o que é ..
@@nunoteixeira271 verdade 👍🏻
Viva a francesinha!
e a dizerem que era comida só para quem tá com os copos... fds eu comia francesinha até ao pequeno-almoço kkk
That sandwich looked amazing!!! 😍
It is!!!
It’s not a Sandwich it’s called francesinha
Good to see Alex getting a break from the van build 😌
Yeah he’s worked so hard backbreaking he deserves a rest!!!! 🤪
🤣
🤣
Comment of the month!
Its francesinha wich means little french girl! U read it Francé-sinya
Northern Portugal is one of the Celtic Nations so I get what you said about Porto having an Edinburgh vibe! :) Plus, most of Porto's buildings are made of granite, just like Edinburgh.
We were just in Porto in April and we absolutely fell in love! It quickly became one of our favorite cities in Portugal! We of course did a port tasting at Sandeman and loved the Tawnys and Rubys. The river cruise's weren't running when we were there, probably a good thing, huh? LOL! We had a Francisinha next door to Porto Cruz and it was OK as well. However, Pastel de Nata's have been Debbie's favorite since our first trip to Portugal on the Algarve back in 2009. We found a great beer garden, Letraria Porto, where we tried the local beers. We recently posted our video sharing our 3 days in Porto if you or anyone else would like to check it out!
So great to see "The Beans" back traveling again! Cheers!
I will be honest Emma that sandwich looks amazing. I always look forward to you and Alex's videos because they are funny and amazing content.
I was going through your videos from the beginning and I expect those videos even to say beans out!!
If they ever stop saying beans out I will cry myself to sleep for the rest of time
I’m so glad you’re back on the road. I love the buzzed beans!
The beans, drunk, exceptional 😂
You two are just so full of life, and a breath of fresh air during these turbulent times. You make us all feel we were young again. Enjoy your traveling around Portugal, and hope the weather remains kind.
We loved Porto, excited for more episodes from Portugal❤️
Portugal is definitely seeming to move up my travel list the more I research it. Love another Tipsy Beans episode!
you guys are hilarious drunk or sober, Emma's laugh is so contagious.... much love from Big D, Texas....
It must be so enjoyable to travel when you have so much fun together!
Great fun to see Porto my home for ten years. I remember a time when it was free to visit the wine caves .you could get well plastered for nothing 😂🍸🍸 Taylor’s Chip Dry Port is delicious 🇵🇹🇵🇹
OMG! You were in my city!!
Great choice going to o Afonso!
We love love francesinha!!!
Just so you know, the sauce that came with the Francesinha is called a Mozambique sauce and is traditional in plenty of Portuguese dishes. It’s on the idea of a thinned down but just as spicy wing sauce that is used in plenty of chicken and seafood dishes. Being Portuguese and having grown up in New Bedford, Mass, the sauce is a staple in Portuguese restaurants the same way BBQ sauces are in places like Kansas City or the Carolinas.
So so jealous! Love you guys, so much fun to watch.
Loved it guys! What an amazing place. Tipsy Beans are always good for a laugh. Lol.
Love a tipsy beans video! Well done guys loving the content.

SO FUN
I just want to try this sandwich! Look so yummy
So happy to see you guys happy travelling again. 💚 X
Yaayyyy!! You guys are traveling again. I wish i was brave enough to take risks like you guys! I would love to watch more videos of portugal.
Love Porto, and seeing Tipsy Beans being back. I really enjoyed their, local wines, other than Port. Most are cheap and very good. Excellent seafood of many types. There are places to go where when you order seafood, after it they serve you a meat sandwich. The meat sandwich is called a "prego" or nail - as in the nail in the coffin. Weird, but delicious - and it can be on the house so worth trying.
Such a nice video! Loved it! And love Porto!!!!!
I'd loved to try that sandwich! Gotta go there.
its amazing
It's a must if you are in the greater Porto area!!
I love seeing you both tipsy. This is hilarious. I love you both!
Super to see You back :) Porto is amaizing
Good to see you back. Can’t wait to go to Portugal
I had a francesinha in Albufeira last year and I thought it was amazing. I also had to go for an afternoon nap after polishing it off because it was such a beast.
I can assure you, the ones in Porto are way better :)
@@PatriciaSantos91 Oh I can imagine. I'll have to compare when we're allowed out of the country again! :)
You mad!!! Francesinha is amazing 👏
I love drunk Emma!
So happy to see you travelling again. I’m not a sweets person but I do love cinnamon. Your sandwich looked amazing and can’t go wrong with wine. Really looking forward to this series. Cheers
We love drunk giggly Emma too
I'm so happy to see you relaxing and doing what you love. As long as no spices in the sarnie yes I'd give it a try. Take care and stay safe, enjoy every moment & I will look forward to seeing your next adventure 🤗
Good to see you back traveling :-)
Beautiful sharing my friend 💚💚👍👍
Another great video of Portuguese cuisine but in Portugal 🇵🇹🇪🇺👍
So good to "see" you back :) to very good and interesting journeys -Cheers from Hamburg, Ger
Bourdain and it's special kind of humour and his outbursts of "f*ck" is so damn missed ! I love his shows and how he treated persons, especially with his kind of personal background
THEY ARE EXTREMELY GOOD , those Francesinha
You guys are hilarious. Keep it up.
Love Taylor’s port, and yes I’d defo eat that bad boy and get back on the beer, port and cheeky vimto. Lovin the videos guys. 🍷🍺🥪🍟🍷🍺
Great video! Also love the ass-end of the peacock behind Alex when you all are sitting outside at the winery 🤣
Mantegna rua is THE BEST place for pastel de nata. Hands down. Great video. Thanks for coming to my new country!
Obrigado por divulgar a minha linda cidade💪💖
Ah, we just bought a vacation villa in Caldas da Rainha and on the search for land in Portugal. Perfect timing to enjoy your Portugal series. Happy travels.
Subscribed because of your van build but got to say you guys are brilliant! Great vid and so funny watching you both getting slightly pissed and still trying to present the video. Cheers both 😂
Ahh this was bitter sweet to watch but lovely. At Christmas my Mum and I decided we would go to Portugal together in the Summer and felt uplifted that there was something to look forward to. Mum then died in January from covid. Watching this I know we would have had a lovely time. Thank you
So sorry for your loss. Portugal is a favorite country of mine - wonderful people.
That is so sad....hope you are doing better. I am determined to take my mom to Poland this summer as you just never know what is in store for any of us. 🇨🇦
Drunk Beans!!!! I did some 3 or 4 of these Port houses with tasting tours :-) I loved it! There are far more varieties of Port wine than available in Dutch/ Belgian shops! And well ....... I am a beast so I would order the sandwich ;-)
Emma and Alex always fun,I definitely wanna check out Portugal one day.
Good for you guys! We love Porto, are you going to visit other places in beautiful Portugal? We recommend you Obidos a medieval city, Sintra and its palaces and Coimbra. Enjoy and we envy you, this is very good season to visit there!
I have tried custerd torte in a bakery in North California, I loved it. I can't wait going to Portugal and try a custard torte. I thought Portugal is in lockdown, but I might be wrong. Great Video
I was so looking forward to this video. Thank you for sharing your day in Porto! We visited Porto from Texas in March 2020, right before the pandemic took off. It was one of our best vacations! At the last minute while staying in Porto, we booked a day trip using Airbnb Experiences for the following day, in which we got picked up in the city center along with four other tourists and we were taken to port tastings in the Douro Valley, visited some small nearby villages, where we shopped a bit and had espressos, took a river cruise and had an incredible traditional lunch at a restaurant in one of the Douro Valley villages. Not sure if there available at this time, but I’d definitely recommend visitors check out the day trips on Airbnb Experiences leaving from city center. Thank you for the wonderful video!
Would you mind sharing the link to that Airbnb experience? I'm actually heading to Porto tomorrow!
@yduong7 I unfortunately don’t have access to get the link at this time if it still exists. I sure hope that business was able to survive the pandemic. I believe all I did was go to the Airbnb website, type Porto as the location, after clicking on Experiences and it was the only option available at that time for an experience like that. I apologize I couldn’t be more helpful. Have a wonderful visit to Porto!
wow, nice place! stay safe guys…
you are soooo lovely 🥰 please please keep on vlogging😎😎 and thanx for your contents, ist is great to follow your channel!!
big hugs from Germany, sonja
Yall are the most adorable couple!

Thank you so much for your interesting video. You know, by many years I planned travel in Portugal but for several reasons I never got there, but, now watching this tape I felt in love with this marvel country, and I think it going be the next place to visit. And.... besides I starved looking that weird but I think delicious sandwich😁😁 and I wouldn't want talking about Porto wine....... hopeful don't get drunk 😂😂
🇵🇹 Is amazing and Porto is awesome. The people are some of the best, the food is great, including Francesinha with chips and a cold beer; the best, and natas, the coffee, wines OMG. I am an 🇺🇸 expat living in 🇵🇹 and have no intention of going back!
Nice to see you two on your travels again abroad especially Portugal. Been to Portugal many times. Just love the place. We been to Portiamo and had a night in Lisbon. Hopefully once things settle. We will going again. Have fun guys 😀
5:06 Porto Cruz... My family name.. Well, Ferdinand Magellan who discovered the Philippines were from Portugal, no wonder
I was in Portugal 1 week ago with my husband and we went to real companhia velha, had a live tour there and tried 4 different ports for only 12€ :) so if anyone is considering this, I would recommend it
great vlog, no, I would not eat that sandwich, but the chips and sauce yes. Love the drunken Beans
Alex totally deserves a break from the gruelling van build. Good to see him having fun for a change. Seriously though - love Drunk Beans! 🍷 👍👍
Oh, nice! Guys back on track.
Literally.
Pretty Portugal. Will we see you surfing?
Beautiful city 😍
I've never even been to Edinburgh or Porto before and I can definitely see the similarities.
I absolutely adore you two! You are such a breath of fresh air. We have to meet up in Poland or Colorado!
I love Portuguese custard tarts, I'm so pleased you can buy them even in my local tesco in uk
its called pasteis de nata or pasteis de belém... not custard tarts
@@paulojorge8121 achas mesmo que vão meter isso na etiqueta do produto lá? Lol
