- Swedish broadcaster SVT and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) are excited to reveal the theme art for 68th Eurovision Song Contest: ‘The Eurovision Lights.’
By combining the northern lights and the harmonic rhythm of sound equalizers, this visual identity was created. ‘The Eurovision Lights’ is a concept is based on simple linear gradients, inspired by the vertical lines that permeate both the northern lights and sound equalizers, and has been created to be a versatile identity that can be adapted according to need and devices.

I thinked the same.They will have more freedom to use the colors.Until today in 2016 they used green grass for Slovenia,the orange for Netherlands and the green and yellow for Australia.

I like the idea of northern lights integrated in the visual design but why does it look like something i’d see in Spotify Wrapped ??
Well, spotify is a Swedish app so... that says everything
Its very different to spotify wrapped. The only similarity are the bold colours
If you notice in the Wrapped last 2023, the strips *do* have a semblance to a graphic element. Specifically, the gradient stairs in the black backgrounds of Wrapped. Very different things otherwise.
Very Nordic. Simple but pleasing. But I think it will look more pleasing once all the flags gets integrated with the art!

Eurovision had golden ages with Jan Ola..With diversity..with different logo and slogans..miss that..
I miss Jan Ola Sand and "take it away" so badly. I don't know why but I don't really like Martin Osterdahl :/
Eurovision peaked under Jan Ola Sand (and he was such a lovely person with his "take it away"). The recent changes made under the new team have been quite meh. From the recorded vocals and public only semi final voting to the recent minimalist themes and permanent slogan. Idk, I feel like things were more exciting a few years ago.

Personally, and as a graphic designer I LOVE this logo. So modern and fresh. It goes perfect in order to apply the diferent countries flags.

I was about to ask the same thing. Where is the actual logo? We can only see some gradients and backgrounds, which are pretty modern retro stuff. But how would you apply this "logo" to some print? I guess the generic Eurovision logo with Swedish flag only.
I, as a designer, am very impressed by this bold step, to make such a graphic design and such a scene is bold. It’s especially interesting how it will be in printed materials and on stage)) Many people already know that not all gradients print well on fabric and paper))) 😏😏😏
As a designer, I would say that printed items are definitely disregarded for a TV show. Big relief for them!

As a person who has been suffering for decades from migraines with aura (visual disturbances including zigzag-like flashes that come before a headache), I am very disappointed. The pixelisation resembles my migraine symptoms rather than Northern lights.

See this is why I was apprehensive with the removal of unique yearly slogans.
I like the inclusion of the northern lights but I think Sweden could have thought about a more fitting cheesy slogan for the lights theme than trying to make it fit “United by Music” with the under the same sky distinction (that Istanbul 2004 already did😐)
United by Music is a good slogan - it just needs to be followed! Get Israel and Azerbaijan out of energy contest!

Seriously. I am usually not the one complaining on behalf of epileptic people, but this really hurt my eyes, could barely even watch it. I can't imagine how it would look like in big tv screen.
I hope they could at least tune it down a little.

I have been watching it every year since 2005 and I know flashing lights are part of the show and I usually don't mind it, but it doesn't change my opinion on this particular piece. There are things I like about it, but watching it from my phone screen in dimly lit room felt really uncomfortable, and I do not think they would be aiming for that for show meant to be watched by millions of people.
They can do what they want of course, and some people don't seem to mind it, but I don't wanna see this again.

Reality: A bunch of monochromatic pixels, looks like vomit rather than the northern lights…and copies Spotify Wrapped’s branding.
Also, Finland’s national image are the Northern Lights!
The northern lights aren't anymore Finnish than they are Swedish, Icelandic, Norwegian, etc. And you can't "copy" the Northern lights cause then every eurovision logo is just a "copy" of something. And if you can't understand good branding then you might as well go live in a cave

Because EBU have decided that, talk to them if not happy with this. Sweden only did what EBU wanted. Sweden is out here putting alot of much money for everyone with the hosting, the least you people can do is to not complain about everything, stop being offended because of it's not perfect, try look forward to the competision instead. The logo and slogan is just for marketing ESC as EBU want it, the more important stuff is the artists, the competition and the entertainment.

This is basically stripping off Eurivision of any specific identity and replace it with basic/minimalistic (nordic) stuff.

It's the way I was thinking about the artwork Sweden has used in the past for ESC and then I was wondering what they would do, bam here it is.

Still hosted in Sweden, either way you're sometimes able to see the northern lights all the way down in Malmö
