He does the same thing with Sandra Bullock's last name, puts the stress on the second syllable (which always makes me think of Forrest Gump telling people he got shot right in the butt-TOCK). It also seems to me that he pronounces "because" something like "bekwoz", which I suppose must be a Chicago accent thing, but can't say as I've ever noticed anyone else doing it.
When Ebert says "The Negotiator is directed by F. Gary Gray who also directed...." I expected him to finish with " Friday, so you know its about to be lit." But instead he went with Set It Off.
@@reneperez7903 In Roger's print review of "Set It Off", he did mention "Friday" as "underrated" so he's seen it at least. But yeah, they never reviewed it on the show.
Absolutely! J.T. Walsh in particular, is still one of my favorite "character" actors of all time. I first saw him in David Mamet's "House Of Games" and just knew he was a special actor that has gone way too soon!
@@LumpyAdams no it doesnt surprise me any that they dont. i myself dont even have anything to say about the film as i actually have never seen it because i wasnt interested. i just always find it sort of funny how out of touch i feel they were with normal people. they always gave off a vibe as if they were both rather upper middle class and very educated. and while they would despise the horror films almost always and marvel at why so many people would go see those slasher films and dumb comedies. they would then just absolutely rave over French films and art films that most of their viewers probably had zero interest i n.
Two CZcams series that are pretty comprehensive: Breakfast All Day, with Christy Lemiere (who was also on the public TV revival of Ebert Presents At The Movies) and Alonzo Duralde. Both were formerly on another great YT film review series, What the Flick from TYT. Kermode and Mayo's Take used to be the film review show on BBC Radio but is now a YT series and podcast. Mark Kermode's takedown of Sex and the City 2 is legendary.
The way Ebert pronounces "Cart-MAN."

They didn’t review Friday unfortunately, although Siskel posted in the tribune he hated Friday after the very opening scene.

@@Xayjohns would’ve been a great review between the 2.
@@reneperez7903 Definitely.
After seeing this it kinda makes me sad that they went on to name an episode "Roger Ebert Should Lay Off The Fatty Foods" in the 2nd season
I love Baseketball! Probably has to do with my age...
Can you find: At the Movies (2008) Marley & Me request
I wish they had both lived to review Morbius.
The Negotiator. R.I.P. J.T. Walsh and John Spencer.

And don’t forget Kevin Spacey.
@@sonnyblack0870 Isn't he alive?
@@geoffelder2236Yup. He was really good in A Few Good Men and The Client.
@@reneedennis2011 And especially in "Breakdown", where he displayed how charming an evil manipulative villain can truly be!

Everytime I've watched baseketball by myself I laugh my ass off, and everytime I've watched it with someone else it's been embarrassingly bad

"Hey Roger, I heard your sister's going out with Gene!"
Baseketball is great haha
Are there any more shows like this where two critics review the week's new releases?
Half in the Bag is the new Siskel and Ebert, but it’s more of a comedy show.

Baseketball is hilarious
Poor Gene started to look and sound sick in 1998.
The Governess is good, but it's kind of silly.
TV MA? Siskel must've been on a drunken rant in this episode.
