- This literally is the ultimate Tope fishing film. We had 60 tope. This video is packed to the max with Tope, aggressive runs and multiple double hook ups. We even caught freelined Tope on camera, float fished Tope, mid water Tope, Tope just under the surface and screaming off with the live Scad, just Tope everywhere. We also caught a lot of Black Bream, Scad / Horse Mackerel and at the beginning loads of mackerel too. This is one of those days you dream about and talk about saying ''imagine if this happened''. Well no imagination needed, this day was everything you could of wished for. It went to plan, well actually it went better than planned, we could not believe it. I will never forget this day as long as I live. The tope were behaving like Blue-Sharks swimming around the boat, taking baits just feet under the surface. Even taking baits out my hands before I had time to set the float up. What a crazy day. I really do hope you enjoy this film.

Fantastic video Dave. This happened to us fishing of Mallin Head off Co. Donegal two years ago. It was manic!! I watch your video every day, Its a class act as Mark says. I have fished for Tope for 15 years now and the only advise I can give you is that you said in the video that you had gone through 10 traces. What we have experienced is that if you have a four foot wire trace (49 strand wire) 150lb. breaking strain, you will have no break off. I have seen tope bite through 100lb nylon. So my advise is use wire traces, it is so much better. 4 Feet of wire trace coupled with 8 feet of 150lb nylon for a rubbing leader, using coastlock swivels, it works every time. Keep up the good work, they are fantastic videos that you put up. If you want me to make you some up, send me your email address and I will get in touch with you for your address.
Thanks Brian. It wasn't the bite trace going it was the rubbing leader because tope where grabbing the bait that had blown up the line, I use 250lb mono bite trace and so far fingers crossed I have never lost a fish due to the bite trace.
If you want to send me some to try I don't mind giving them a go always open to try different things and try out what people advise.

@@C3BFA the tope ive had range from 40lbs upto 73lbs mate had one of 76lbs

20 something years ago, I fished with a club that used a charter boat from Aberystwyth (Alderbaren skippered by Dave Taylor) and the Tope fishing was fantastic! Miss those days, now fish for the Smoothounds from the north kent coast. Great video, enjoyed every bit! Must drag the boat over to Wales sometime ;-)
I fished with Dave on alderbaren he was a great skipper.
The tope fishing can be amazing up there on the day it can kick off just like this video definitely my best day on the tope.

I would say now if you wanted to charter go to Aberdovey and book Charlie Bartlett if that's how you spell it he takes people after the tope and bream he is like Dave a very very good skipper and knows his stuff
