France’s hard right party predicted to become largest parliamentary party | Peter Conradi

  • “It will certainly be the largest party, but it will probably fall short in quite a way short, I think, of the 289 seats that it and its allies would need to get a majority.”
If France’s hard right National Rally does not win a majority after the second round of elections, Emmanuel Macron would have to “put together a kind of weird coalition” of different political parties, says Peter Conradi.

@arnoldsaunders6073 The thing is, the rhetoric is the same. The Austrian painter got in democratically by scapegoating the same people that the culture wars target. The majority of German people were good, decent people, but they got hijacked by clever propaganda that played on their prejudices and lack of education.

@Skygrey2943 Wrong. There are nationalities that are more easily led by manipulating political entities. Plus, they have a character that lacks empathy for humans outside their ethnic group.

@@twisteddancer7773 Indeed, I remember it. Ted Heath and the Conservative party were in power for 4 years, and we had both power cuts and strikes during that time - it's what brought him down. There were also strikes when Labour were in power but I don't recall power cuts. Of course some people might imagine that not everything can be blamed on whatever party is in power at the time, but you're clearly not one of those.
There were also strikes a-plenty, and riots too, during Thatcher's reign, but no doubt you'll find a way to not blame those on her. It's only when Labour are in that the government is to blame, true?
