It's an astonishingly arrogant and pathetically pig ignorant blindspot universally shared by the entitled "elite", polticians, journalists, public official, etc.
Just because they don't like cheek by jowl with the consequences of their worldview and have nothing but complete and utter contempt for their country, culture, history and traditions, they immediately meltdown the moment anyone votes for a Trump or a Le Penn.

Lepen party do not have the majority of the electors support. They currently have the largest support. More people disagree with them than agree with them. Issue is they are so splintered they can't win. Also Lepen will do even better the better the hard left does. Only way to defeat her is for the far left to accept the can't win.

I also live in the south, in Cannes, and I agree with @monaco photograhy's comment (below). There is a lot of talk down here, and there has been for some time about leaving the EU.
I also agree wholeheartedly about the never ending strikes :0)
" @leecudmore-ray6697 I live in Monaco, and down here in the South of France, it's a stronghold of Lepen. She has often voiced her opinion on leaving the Eu. I also have a place just over the border in Italy, and there is also an opinion there that Italy would be better off out of it.
France is not exactly in a strong position. Although I don't think that leaving the EU will put a stop to the constant strikes in France.
There are problems all over Europe, not just the UK. Not everything can be blamed on Brexit. I still fave a home in the UK, and in general, food, gas, electricity is cheaper (bearing also in mind the 3kw limit in France), and the tax burden in France and Italy is higher.
Public transport in France is cheaper, because of the heavy subsidies, but that's reflected in the higher tax burden."

Politics is cyclical. Today's voters are mostly ignorant of the real-life consequences of far-right machinations. They're too young to have any experience of it, and are tempted by the key-words and plain lies that this version of politics relies upon. It's all waffle, fluff and nonsense, but sounds like firm governance, get it done gravitas. France needs to go through the same process that the UK has (probably still is to an extent) of being governed by ever more extreme right-wing politicians. Ms.LePen has ambition, a burning desire to lead, but literally zero grasp of what to do once she has that position, typical of career politicians, devoid of principles or philosophy. Her ideas depend upon a dictatorial political format, and I'd suggest that France has a long (well known) history of fighting back against top-down dictatorialism.

The fascists cannot govern. Hopefully, they will not assume power but it looks as if they will sooner rather than later, with their eye on the Presidency in 2027. They are the same as they were twenty two years ago when the left had to hold its nose and vote Chirac to prevent Jean Marie le Pen from becoming President. The mainstream right and the left have both failed France in the meantime, especially the left, which has ceded ground to the fascists, who have pretended they have changed. Just as the Democratic Party abandoned its blue collar vote in America, thus enabling Trump, Hollande's disastrous Presidency destroyed the Partie Socialiste in France as an electoral force. God help France if National Rally form a government but it is bound to fail. Small consolation but it may be the only hope of France swinging decisively back to the left.
