Roland is so right, up here in Canada, missing Aboriginal women -just went on missing-- the authorities just didn't seem to care very much- and many many many ended up dead, the murder rate is 5 times the rate of non-aboriginal women.

I was a fan of Bill Maher since Politically Incorrect in the 90s. And I'm telling you, he didn't start acting like this until he got called out on Real Time for saying the N word as a joke in his monologue. He had to apologize cuz there were calls for him to get fired. So the following week on his show Ice Cube set him straight an embarrassed him, told him that - he was getting too comfortable and thought he could just drop the n-word with no problem cuz he was dating black women.
Bill Maher never got over that. And his attitude towards blacks has never been the same. His whole show started changing. Suddenly starting to have a whole bunch of conservative guests. Complaining about CRT and Woke and that racism is a thing of the past...etc. Even a lot of his old white and black liberal guests don't even come on the show anymore. His show is so awful now, I can't even watch, It sickens me. You know when Fox News shows highlights of your show and gives it props, something's wrong🤔

I’m so glad you dealt with this! There is one thing however that he did that really questions what Bill Maher is trying to pull. He used this portion of his show a few months ago to praise Western Civilization and specifically noted that Black, Asian and Hispanic culture was inferior to it, most certainly not a part of it. He even titled it here on YT “The War on the West!” You noted that he was not calling out the right’s obsession with identity politics and that might be due based on that particular diatribe that he prefers that version.

Discrimination based on race has been illegal for longer than 50 years. Acknowledged enlightened gurus say, 'live in the moment'. Don't assume racism. It may not happen. You may not have to sue them for damages.
If you had been affected by real racism/slavery, I’d agree with you. You don’t face racism in America anymore than a white person faces…the switch was turned off a long time ago and the black community is doing all they can turn it back on. It’s sickening that the black community cries victim to everything and can’t realize that begging for something free all the time is not gonna make your attitude change about racism. It’s gonna take getting out of denial and accepting that you’re gonna have to work alongside white folks in harmony to go further in life and live happy.

Maher just can't deal with the fact that he's out of touch, and that's he getting old. He lives in his little bubble of white privilege, and can't even relate to anything or anybody outside of that. If he would even try to understand why race is a thing, and why racism is still a thing, he would make more sense. The thing is, as a white man, like most white people, Maher's never had to deal with racism, and never will. Tired of white dudes like Maher claiming racism doesn't exist simply because they don't ever have to deal with it. That's is literally the only damn reason he can sit there and claim racism dosen't matter---because he's never had to deal with it. I used to like his show, but he got irrelevant, and I stopped watching his show years ago.
And for all his claims about "identity politics", the democratic party is still way the hell more diverse than the damn near lily-white republican party. You can count on one hand the actual number of black repubs in the party. If race didn't matter, there would be more black folks in the GOP. It's interesting how a good number of black repubs gradually end up leaving the repub party, because they find out the hard way that the repubs don't give a damn about black people, period.
He also completely ignores how lily-white and racist the country music scene has always been and still is, and that 'Lil Nas and Beyonce are still considered outliers in that genre. Neither 'Lil Nas nor Beyonce are considered "country" by the country gatekeepers---even though they're both Southerners, and should be able to sing as much country music as they want. Audiences of these shows are most often losers with nothing important to do while visiting the city the shows are hosted in. It’s an opportunity to get a free soda a free finger food and seem important because “You Might Be On TV”. Hi Roland, I watch and follow your program from "Down-under" Perth Western Australia. Though I have never been to the USA, thanks for being the "VOICE" of black America and Africa. However, I notice your panels are always informed middle-class older folks who I do really appreciate and happy to see and listen to but I don't see the youth and young adults from the suburbs, regions and rural areas. Even those individuals who say this: "You're watching Roland Martin Unfiltered" or "this is Roland Martin Unfiltered." I think the youth and young adults being included would bring in a demographic of new audience and their parents, guardians and communities along.

As a person on the Autism Spectrum - essentially the closest thing that a white heterosexual male comes to being a minority in the USA - I felt what Roland Martin was saying. What Bill Maher gets wrong here is that the reason why it's such a colossal deal that Beyonce has the #1 country song or that we have a VP who happens to be African American (as well as Indian American), is because minorities in the USA in many cases still very much face obstacles to get to where they can get to. Beyonce's experience is precisely NOT the "norm." She is sadly the exception rather than the rule.

Firstly, it's drivel, not "dribble." We aren't playing basketball here. Secondly, the point is that country music has not traditionally been a genre of music where African Americans have been successful in. The vast majority of country musicians have been white southerners. The reason why it is a big deal that Beyonce broke through that is because neither of us have seen too many American Americans in that business.
Whether you like it or not, we don't live in a completely color blind, gender blind, racial blind, disability blind, et cetera society. Yes, the USA isn't nearly as racist as it was two generations ago, but we shouldn't pretend that racial issues don't exist. And that barriers other than ability often hold minorities back.
White men the more older they get the more of who they really are what they have really saying and thinking come out CLEARER.
I think I was less tolerant or at least less informed as a young man. Now I'm middle-aged and I feel like I have a much better, albeit still improving, understanding of race in America. Of course, I'll never be able to personally relate so I'll never fully understand the issue, but I think I can discuss the topic somewhat intelligently or hopefully at a minimum, respectfully.

I don't want to hear Maori's bang on about colonialism. Fact's are Maori was an incredibly violent society, extremely backward culturally and technically. When it came into contact with a more advanced culture.. which was completely inevitable.. the Maori had about the best possible situation you could have. Maximum distance, mountainous terrain. Maori were able to mount effective violent resistance, and the British were the most enlightened "colonizers" you could have hoped for... to this day there is democratic representation, and a bunch of other favorable deals. I never met a Maori that wants to return to the "old ways". Colonialism, is just a new way to guilt trip people into giving you free stuff. Grow up and move on!
