"The Man Who Does Not Read Has No Advantage Over the Man Who Cannot Read" -Mark Twain
Two Rennesance men hashing it out, reading, philosophy, the Ethos of being men. Love it. You better film any range time you spend with Jack!!
Great interview with Jack Carr. He's my favorite author without a doubt. Thanks for all you do, John.
Jack seems like such a genuine, cool dude
The amount of wisdom and leadership in this interview is 🔥
This was a great interview. Carr is such a warrior and gentleman. I love how he gets his inspiration etc. I was a Marine for 29 years and served as a MSG in Paris France, and Prague Czechoslovakia and did several mini tours, of which one was in Beirut in 1987. I retired out of the Marine Corps reserve as a LtCol in 2012. Also was an American living in Iran with my parents during the Iranian revolution, which got me very interested in foreign affairs, military, cultural/religious issues. This experience led me to joining the Marine Corps and later joining CIA, which I just retired from. I am not much of a fiction reader (I know Carr wants to change that, and after this interview maybe I will start), but I LOVED Terminal List and am looking forward to True Believer! Keep up the great work John. And CARR don't ever stop being you....Semper Fi!!!!
Thank you!
CMDR Carr is an incredibly sharp guy. He's a fantastic author and I can't recommend his books enough.
The terminal list series is one of my favorite book series.
Finished red sky mourning today. Another great book in the series. Would love to see John and Jack talk about just about anything.
Well done gentlemen, peace to you and your families 🕊️
I listened to red sky morning in one weekend fishing the river and it was incredible. I wish they would never end
This interview absolutely made my day. Two of my hero’s sitting down for a chat. Thanks to both John and Jack for all you do to educate, encourage, and support this great nation and its people. Train Hard Train Smart and Never Tell Me the Odds.
The terminal list got me back into reading again, love the series and also picked up warrior poet way for my son and myself, but now my daughter is reading it, so I’m buying her a copy. Love reading again.
Love both of these men. So happy to see em together
Speaking to Jack’s experience in Jamaica, one of my most fond memories was sitting in Oxford, eating dinner and having a couple pints sitting in the pub where C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien would gather with friends to brainstorm and read their works aloud. As a fan of their works, it was a surreal experience.
[Edit: Lol, wild that John mentioned C.S. Lewis immediately afterward 😂]
Agree! I’ve been there, it’s called “Eagle and Child”. So cool to enjoy a pint where two of my favorite authors would meet for a pint and conversation!
I had the pleasure of meeting Jack in Texas during his '23 book tour. Awesome human, and hands down my favorite author.
Jack, as an NROTC Midn in 1985, our AMOI, SSGT, was at the Barracks. He told his story. He was coming off night patrol heading back to get some rack time. As he was walking back one of his buddies was heading out to search for something and asked for his help. He got brow beat into helping and it saved his life. As an 18 y/o Midn listening to that was sobering. Can't wait to read that book.
My favorite series right now. I’d love to have a pour of Hooten Young with Jack. Seems very genuine!!
I've read all his books and I'm currently reading Red Sky Morning 💪
Awesome! I love Jack’s books. I don’t read a lot of fiction, but his are a guilty pleasure.
Next up, we need an interview with Paul Harrell!
Didn't read books at all, but now jack carrs books got me back in, about to start the 3rd book
Jack and his monthly book recommendation videos he did a few years ago got me back into reading. I was someone who maybe finished a book a year, now I clock over 40 books a year and absolutely love reading. Jacks passion and enthusiasm for reading and books was/is infectious, thank you Jack.
Love his genuine character, his background and books are incredible and this brings him closer to a regular guy status but I can see his genius at the same time. Thanks John for sharing this wonderful person.
I first read the Terminal list when I was in holding company at Camp Pendleton. It was an awesome ride. Already bought and read Red Sky. Thank you Mr. Carr it has been a wonderful journey thus far
The mashup I've been waiting for for years!!!!!
LOVE the James Reece books and TV series. Keep 'em coming Jack.
Love this book series. James Reece is a beast. Thank you Jack Carr for amazing books. Thank you John Lovell for having him on the show. Thank you both for your service to this country.
Great interview! Thanks for bringing it to us.
I remember that I was thrilled to hear that one of my favorite books was becoming a tv series, and I hope they continue to do justice to all of Jack's books.
I finished Red Sky Mourning, and it has become my new favorite!
💥BOOM💥NO WAY!?! Lovell and Carr in the same location?!?
I saw Star Wars in the theater when it was just "Star Wars" not "A New Hope".... And, Offgrid Homestead could indeed also be a castle! Thanks for the awesome interview guys! I can't wait for more Terminal List, the books AND the show.
I've read all the books and still reading Red Sky Mourning, James Carr keeps knockin' it out of the ballpark.
Dude, I love Carr's library. Sweet mercy!
A guy like Jack Carr needs more time!!!!! This was really great!
For reading. Your competition is that I have to read all day long for work and I do not want to in the evening and its a time factor. But.... Iove audio books and listen constantly while driving and working around the house.
Here’s one of those comments that sit in the back of your head and occupy space that you wish didn’t.
And also for the CZcams algorithm. Love you and Jack’s creative content. 👍🏼
What I like about his books is that they feel like just as much warning as story.
My middle aged library was sold off during our retirement move. Jack’s books would have made great additions to those literary works.
Excellent interview that covers a lot of the stuff we discussed earlier.
Outstanding interview. Love all of Carr’s books. Can’t wait to get the current one. I read a lot of fiction, Ian Fleming, Alistair McClain when I was young and various authors since then, Tom Clancy, W. E. B. Griffin, C. J. Box to name a few. I like historical military works such as 13 Hours, Neptune’s Inferno, Blackhawk Down, Band Of Brothers, etc. But get me into something like philosophy and I am out like a light. What amazes me, though, and I never gave it much thought until recently, is the writing process. Taking an idea for a book and finishing it up with the final chapter. I can’t imagine the focus it takes a writer like Carr to push out a book every 12 to 16 or 18 months. To me that is phenomenal and I have a tremendous amount of respect for authors. Thank you, gentlemen.
I like this guy so much! Thanks for having him as a guest 🇨🇦
Outstanding interview!! Bravo Zulu to both John and Jack for leading and inspiring us from the front. You HAVE to put up the video of you two on the range when that happens!!!!
Stay safe and healthy & Check 6!

Great show!!! Loved Terminal List show. Will pick up the book series.
I have one problem with Jack Carr books once I pick it up can't put it down. Love your books Jack keep them coming.
Very good interview!! Thanks 👍 God bless y'all!!!!
Very excited about the new shows coming out
I’m so glad to get my hands on the latest book. I’ve been anxiously waiting for it.
I've bought 3 copies of Mr. Carr's books. I hope it helps put a little jingle in his pocket. Anyone that writes like he does, I'm gonna support. I've got your book too Mr. Lovell.
Great interview! Almost finished with Red Sky Mourning. Jack always delivers! 👍
Outstanding interview!!
Love reading! Guess it started as a child in the early sixties reading comic books.
Let's go I can't wait to see this new video!
Great Interview
Havnt had a chance to listen to this yet but pumped my fist when the notification popped up. This is gonna be fire
Thank you.
The collision of 2 of my favorite worlds it's a great way to start the morning....
Can we choose an off-grid Castle? Solar, wells and outher water collection, garden in the center court, ballistas, ect sounds lit.
Thinking the exact same thing, plus it has that spooky factor at night
Amazing interview, congrats to you both.
Loved the Terminal list on Amazon! I served 23 yrs in the Army . yeah there was some whatever stuff . but the story was awsome!
Good conversation.
finished red sky morning this morning. Great book
Been waiting for a new upload😆
Finished Red Sky last night. Actually it was technically this morning!
Proudly i can say i read to my daughter before she was born. I would lay across moms belly and read to Audrey. She would kick me in the head most of the time but now she is a reader, she loves to read and now, at 15, she is studying creative writing...
Just finished Red sky mourning. It's epic! I wonder did Mr. Carr got sponsorship from the guns & gears industry? Because in the book he name dropped so many companies and their products while describing them in details. Sometimes it feels like product inserts in the movies.
Nailed it with the firefighters watching firefighter movies lol
Always enjoy listening 👍🇺🇸
What a great guy Jack is.
That library has a secret switch that flips the walls and turns into a fully stocked armory, doesn't it? I'm so jealous.
I will NEVER be able to unsee this😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I admit i haven't read much since i got out of high school and im pushing 40 this year, however, i love my audio books. This year alone I've listened to your book on audible, 1984, one second after series, day of wrath, America falls series, and quite a bit of content on ancient civilizations and some books by Billy Carson. I also enjoy the Shawn Ryan show podcasts, making the argument with Nick F., and Joe Rogan podcasts, these generally fill my work day.
jack! photos of all your books on those shelves please!
Great interview and fantastic author.
just finished red sky, really digged it! def hits close to home with the mission set this book
CZcams in the right corners, has a lot of interesting content in a more condensed and accessible format, on non fiction subjects.
Great video. A young friend of mine was still in the navy and was on the carrier that parts of Tears of the Sun was filmed on. I forget his title but he had something to do with the weapons they used.
The one thing that I don't like about the book is that I finished it and have to wait another year or so for the next one.
Jack Carr is one of the very few fiction writers, that passes on a lot of excellent non fiction concepts in his books.
Love this guy. I’ll run to buy the books he wrote.
And of course I really like you and this format. I would like there’s someone like you in my Country
God bless fellow brother and sister in Christ
Amen and Amen
two great dudes!
100 pages in and great so far!
Happy birthday Jack
My older brother always tore the last pages of my comic books and never told me why.
I had to draw my own conclusions.
Man love all those books! Incredibly realistic
I really need to start reading this guys novels
Great TV show adapted from a great book series! Can't wait to get started on Red Sky Mourning (sorry to say I'm late to the game).
John could you make a video on classic books that you think people shouldn't read.
So...our country underwent a C o Up - not one shot was fired. Amazing.
I literally just got all 7 books recently, and I can't put them down. I'm already on book 4!!
Read the entire terminal list series in about 6 weeks
Excellent interview and I hope Joh n you get to spend some time with “Jack” and have opportunity to pull on the Bible & religious threads offline - again great conversation and some good outside the norm questions to make Jack think - Bravo!
Im all for the “20% Hollywood.”
The only stuff that ruins scenes for me is when “guns are wrong.” Meaning stuff like unlimited ammo, 0 recoil, fire rates are stupid off from what they should be, optics mounted backwards, bullet proof couches, etc.
Jack Higgins supersedes him. I was reading Higgins on the bus ride home from school in the 70s and 80s.
Read all your books including your new one, they pull you in and make you turn pages. When is book 8 coming??
Disagree boys Tears of the Sun was Freaking awesome! And you guys seem to forget that’s an older movie and the setting in Africa the weapons were realistic for a regular SEAL Team in that era. If anything I appreciated it showing HOW EASY it is to die instead these indestructible characters we have in modern cinema. So I think you guys nailed this whole interview except your take on TOTS. Just my 2cent you guys are awesome for making this content.
How does that ladder turn that corner?
I saw the ladder but only got interested when I saw this comment. My guesses:
1. There is more than one ladder.
2. Lift it off the one track and put it on the other.
Option 2. Lift it off the track and put it on the other side
audible brought me back to books
Shipmate I love audio books but you can't sign an audio book 😉 and you really need to get to New Hampshire for the book tour.
Savage Son sucked me in! Read it in a day and a half! Had a hard time putting it down during work.
What part of quick do you not understand sailor??? DROP!
John and Chad foreeeveeeeer🤘🏻🤘🏻❤️❤️❤️
