Can a man apply mehndi on a woman as my source of income?
My Sunni friend says no because Muslim men can not touch women.

I am also a sunni muslim and a woman. I would have to agree with your friend. It is certainly not halal. They are not your family or your spouse, It is impermissible to touch a non-mehram woman for you as it opens the doors to Zina. Allah SWT said for us to not even go near Zina. The income is just not worth the displeasure of Allah SWT and potentially bringing upon a major sin in your life. Touching a non-mehrem woman, according to the majority of scholars is an example of minor Zina, and is a sin. Even if you do not have ill intentions, The Shaytan's plan is to bring us closer to a sin one step at a time. This is how he made people better than you and I fall. None of us are exempt from committing these sins and we should take these deeds incredibly seriously as Allah SWT calls it evil and the punishment for Zina is severe.

Also remember, If you leave something for the sake of Allah SWT, He will replace that with something that is better.
Make dua to Allah SWT for a good source of income that will please Him SWT and will be enough to satisfy your needs. Allah SWT will definitely suffice you and bless you with a wonderful source of Income InshaAllah.
