I wanna point out that marines pick their names when they join the chapter. He named himself Balzach

It's the "gw" stand-in name for a philosopher but... yeah

Characters and lore like this falling by the wayside really does feel to me like a side effect of how much space the Horus Heresy has taken up in the lore and fandom recently. Things like this interest me a lot more these days. It'd be cool to see Zhufor and some of the other Vraks stuff return in plastic, they're all really cool!
Honestly that old Khorn Berserker, despite being rounder, is genuinely beautiful. All the little hoses, the classic Khorn horns, and and the round bolter. It’s just a beautiful model!

Gladiator Cadre 331 are honestly the best WE warband now. They still rock the OG colors for example and actually try to uphold the martial honor side of Khorne.
That seems way more interesting than just (near-) mindless berserker space marines.

A much cooler Chapter than the ill-fated Ball Takers, who met their match when they came up against the evil warband of all female chaos fanatics The Emasculators. It was a very imbalanced end...
And so it was that the Ball Takers became the Ball Taken. Tragic.
Little did you know, in the Dawn of War I add on Soulstorm, there was a dark eldar Kabal called the Emasculators

In old days, when I collected, I kitbashed my own Zhufor the Impaler out of Termo-Lord and some spiky bits. I was always fascinated, how Zhufor was a high-functioning example of a World Eater. Yes, he chopped off heads and took names, but he was skilled at inter-Chaos politics and organized CSM Warbands on Vraks into coherent fighting force. #ZhuforForWarmaster
True but let's not forget he caused the very problem that set the forces of chaos on the back foot in the first place by pissing off arkos and murdering all the vracksian commanders which caused the line to desintegrate within days and ultimately cost him the war.
Still a better general than failbaddon tho.

I love this channel and its content. The dry form humor with the 40k setting really go hand in hand.
While on the Chaos train, I reckon you should give the Crimson Slaughter and Blood Gorgons warbands a look over.
The Crimson Slaughter are referenced numerous times in codexes (codices?) and novels, and even had a starter set facing off against Dark Angels. Some models even still display their colours on the webstore.
The Blood Gorgons go a tad harder into novels and were the face of CSM codexes from 6th to 8th edition. A tangent, but my GM did a fantastic job running them in a Wrath and Glory game.
I agree so much about the Crimson slaughter. I saw their image in this video. And just instantly had a wish to see them become just a bit more well known. Their shared box with the dark angels was the first starter box that i got.

Just gotta say man, I am HYPED for when you get around to making a Siege of Vraks series, that battle was compelling af and Arch's series covering the seige served as the backdrop for many an army painting session of mine. Looking forward to seeing what your take on it will look like!

I kinda imagine abbadon like halfway between a youtuber and twitch Livestreamer who's audience is the myriad of aspects of chaos.
Abbadon: I see we have Khorne's honor gifting 20 dollaroos for recent invasion ending with giving a planet a last chance of reclaiming sovereignity through 1 on 1 honorable combat. Too bad the planetary governor couldn't best a khornate berserker huh?
I know if I was a space marine, I see and understand why they turned to chaos. Although I want to make my own chapter, I know the other chapters would conisder them heretic or borderlines to it due to there view points.

Tho they are kinda not so much aligned to the Black Legion, Abaddon does count with his own let's say succersor warbands whose leaders form the council known as the Chosen of Abaddon, you have:
- The Children of Torment, led by Devram Korda Lord Purgator of the Black Legion and perhaps the only chaos space marine able to go head to head against Lucius, devoted to Slaanesh as they are a part of the entire Emperor's Children legion who swore loyalty to Devram.
- Hounds of Abaddon which are his Khornaite Berserkers, led by the Lord Ravager Threxos Hellbreed.
- The Sons of the Cyclops, devotees of Tzeentch led by the Lord Deciever Ygethmor the Deceiver.
- The Bringers of Decay led by the Lord Corruptor Skyrak Slaughterborn who are worshippers of nurgle.
So this is a way that Abaddon uses to not only be chaos undivided but also please the individual gods themselves.

I have NEVER been interested in the war-gaming, hobby crafting, painting, part of warhammer 40k. I only ever was interested in 40k for its deep lore, many books, rich setting ripe for homebrew role-playing with its enormous size, dystopian dark fantasy scifi setting with no hero's, only bad guys.. My favorite part of warhammer 40k has always been when the civilian life background intersect and is brought into focus by the book writers. My favorite "faction" is normal humans and how they endure this universe..
Any book with a human point of view character is 100 times more readable and relatable IMO.
