Awesome! 6+ minutes is very impressive, I can’t imagine pumping for that long, It’s fun to watch everyone that rides this setup and the slight differences in technique. I feel like mine is different from others as well, but probably just from me being old and slow. 😉
I completely agree. It’s like running. So many different techniques to go from A to B. I feel like we’re just at the beginning of this journey. I hope you’re well, Mark
@@WakeThiefI've never tried this
Balz Müller from Switzerland pumped a foil for 6.13 Minutes and had a total distance of 1.61 km
Yes! I believe that’s the video here. An amazing feat!czcams.com/video/r31pmncOh_o/video.html
He's a legend.
pumping for 6 minutes is def a world record AMIRIGHT BOYS
Takes me at least 6 hours...
😂speak it brother they know they like it short and sweet
@joeytate6917 😆
I'm a two pump chump.
Holy smokes this is very motivating!
You know the race is on!!!
We are going to learn a lot from the nuance in technique needed to go from mere mortal 2min duration like me to super athlete / super equipment 30min+
I better decide on some gear and start working for the record!
Music to my ears!
I know there is a dude Im watching here on YT who is training to do a 34km race in the Hawaiian Islands. I dont know how long that is, or how much waves would affect the pump time, but its certainly pretty impressive.
now the record is 4 hours
I've pumped for hours but never in water 😂 jeh jeh jeh
I hope to become a pumper too one day.
Give it time kid.
Definitely impressive for flat water!
But I think Oskar Foils had a couple hour session on foil surfing. I know a guy on O’ahu that pumped from Rockpiles out to a surf break and was up for 30 minutes.
Obviously the waves help. But you generally pump for more time than you ride waves.
His leg was going into Baki mode
“We were pumped”
Why are they so expensive, are they platinum coated or something?
Can you please give the complete setup? Axis 1150 is the front wing, what’s the back wing, fuse, mast, board?
Yes. 1150 / short / 460 / 75cm/19mm mast
an olympic caliber skier or speed skater should be able to beat that time. failing that have you ever tried a river with say a 4km current and going against the current? total guess but i'm thinking it might allow for short rest periods and/or the ability to coast? to me it would be an interesting experiment.
Love it! You need to change your CZcams name to smart and smarter. 😂 love both ideas
@@WakeThief You're too kind :) Also If I wanted to increase my flying time (i don't fly btw) I would think of getting a slide board training aid used by hockey players and speed skaters. Or you could just sprint hills till your blue. Three times a week and i bet you could add a minute to your flying time. Your fly time is directly proportional to the condition your body is in I bet. I'm not suggesting you're out of shape at all cos that's clearly not the case. To get that extra minute though you might have to go that extra mile :)
I 100% agree! The only way that I was able to get this time was because I am in the middle of cross country season and happen to be in the best shape of my life. When I started pumping at the beginning of the summer I could barely pump for a minute. Now I can do a circuit of ten, 1 minute pumping circles with only a minute rest in between!
downwinders use swells all the time- the ability to coast and ride swells and currents would be an aid and would nullify the record if the record had any standards at all
Lots of guys out there can go for more than 30 minutes with aids of current and swell with little difficulty
The pump is such a technical movement that doesn’t translate well with any sport
Expecting one discipline to translate to any sport defies all that we know about sports and cross training- namely sports specificity- which is the theory that the best way to train is to train in your respective sport
actually went on a downwinder with a former world class short track skater- massive legs- but after 3 years on the foil he still struggled with pumping
The presumption that just because you can jump doesn’t necessarily at all translate to pumping a foil
One of the biggest differences is that pumping has a side stance- complete disparate from sports that face frontally- which incidentally was what the shirt track skater struggled with- the relative asymmetry
Yes a small boy in my neighbourhood did it for 1h straight
Dude I was literally wondering what the amount of time a normal person could do this would be…. It looks like it would be so hard to keep going for long periods…. I wonder how long I could do it.. it looks kinda fun but idk about the ocean maybe a lake like this with no log boys.. I’m kinda a chicken about water where you can’t see what’s around you…. lol
6 minutes is a good time
There’s one with a motor you can definitely enjoy riding that
My friends in Tampa were pumping all kinds of tinfoil
I live in San Diego, any recommendations on getting into this sport?
Yes. Pls email. Happy to help. Wakethief@icloud.com
what black board is that at the beginning?
Appletree mini 3’6”
I want an efoil instead but the cheapest is around 4k
Hope you get that recorrd

Love the word pump 😂😂😂😂
Of course you do.
Sharks attack E-foils
Kids these days! So impressive
😂 I am still smiling ear to ear. So great to live vicariously though other passionate people who immediately become friends. I hope you’re well, Rob.
Lukas Schuler. Did the lake of garda. About 50 km in less than 4 hours
Yes. With wind at your back you can many many hour!
It kind of seems like if it had straps on the feet in might be able to go better and longer. I guess it's kind of dangerous though. Lol.
It does help a bit. They’re easy to slip out of. Thanks goodness!
I’m 6’2-6’3, 77kgs, what’s a good foil + board for me?

Yvon Labarthe has been pumping for 14 mins, crossing the lake Zurich Twice
Todd Reichert has done 2.5 hours on the Beta Freefoil. I think we’re finally at a point where an endurance athlete, with proper pumping technique (a few hours of perfection once they already know how to dock start and pump) can go as long as they’d want (with proper hydration and nutrition). So exciting!
насколько завода хватает?
just to clarify (i’ve only foiled a handful of times) is he just pumping it with no throttle? that’s literally nuts. ripsticking a foil is like impossible 😂😂😂😂😂
What do you mean by no throttle? I’ve never done this before so I don’t understand what you’re saying.. lol
@@HardxCorpsxKali before making my comment, i thought hydro foil / e foil were the same thing.
Somebody's done like 2 hours on a beta foil 😅, crazy how much this sport has come in 2 years
Beta foils is the answer
Anyone knows a good setup for a ~65kg rider?
Yes. Happy to help. Pls send me your weight, boardsports background/skill, and how you want to use it. Wakethief@icloud.com
Is it hard because it's tirering or is it hard because the foil slowly sinks lower n lower?? Never foiled. And wtf do you do once it goes down and your out in the water
Tiring. With practice you don’t fall in the middle of the water very often. Safer to stay close to shore and avoid lake crossings until you master it
Meanwhile im searching for a none electric foil scooter
Plase update your description and pin a comment about your recent research and performances, i saw your video about 2.5h performance ...
Great idea! Will do. Thanks!
I had flot 7.30 minutes
i mean, my friend use it for 10 mins to go to school, convinient way thoo
Seems easily beatable
It has been passed now … czcams.com/video/WfJbF0xkUOY/video.htmlsi=ss-XrVLp9eKBRB66
I think i can break that record.
Please try!
@@WakeThief give me 3 months
Amazing! Please stay in touch on your journey. Wakethief@icloud.com
My current personal record is more than 11 Minutes: czcams.com/video/rvqIcbqQxjI/video.htmlsi=QLDYNly2CjIIV-aw 😊 still working on it, pumping is awesome!!
Impressive video!
Me ? Neva , I neva seen no one pump that long , but I have seen a crack head do a backflip of a garbage can , it was pretty impressive 😂🎉 but I hope he gets sum help
My friend did for 6mins and 54 seconds
Dang 6 mins of doing the griddy. Props to nbayounglings
The world record is by some Oskar guy with 2 hours 46 minutes in the ocean
Yes. Riding waves and pumping back out to ride more. This is flat water with no wave assist.
I've pumped more than 6 minutes. But the tire was stil flat...
The record is now 2.5 hours right?
Yes
A thing to look into might be to eliminate the stabilizer (Monofoil) that will reduce drag.
Also in analogy to aerodynamics: The lift distribution of the wing might be optimized for drag reduction with a variable pitch (See bell shaped wing load distribution /Prandtl Wing Update ). Although I'm not sure this applies at these reynold numbers....
It's a great idea, and definitely out of the box. The rear wing is definitely a drag but also key to generating thrust during the climb phase of the pump. I'd love your feedback after watching this video . Any other ideas? czcams.com/video/5XeskRF4jEA/video.html
Current world record now 2.5 hours.
czcams.com/video/WfJbF0xkUOY/video.html
BETA Freefoil 2.5 hours
Myself 16 minutes mostly because I kinda used a motor
Aha
wtf are you talking about "flight"?
The wing flies through the water like an airplane flies through the air.
Try e-foil .
Get someone with real leg strength and endurance to ride it. Like a rower.
Isn’t that the truth! I think you’re right. A super athlete taught to foil is the ticket.
@@WakeThief We ride out here in LA with a guy who is a NCAA water polo champion. He could easily do it. Hard to motivate people to actually try though. If they're foiling at the beach, it's in waves. Not flat water pump records like you're going for.
why are u hooked on something you can only ride for 6 min and just gets you tired screw this😂
Sky diving is much more expensive and much shorter than 6mn.
The foil record is now around 20mn, and research is done to reach 50.
Lmao. Nah not even close. Theres a kid thats practicing pumping from one hawaiian island to another. 6 mins, no chance its the record
