THIS is the channel I’ve been searching for… I feel a great sense of validation watching your videos, sir… I’ve been living similarly (with my young children as well). We don’t have a lot but sometimes it still feels like a lot. Simple life is the best life for me and now I see that’s the case for many others too… God bless you, man 🙏 this is true art

I feel that validation too in this shared path. The simple life is profound art - creating beauty through subtraction. Fewer possessions, lighter beings. Our children will know the grace of enough. Blessings to you on this sacred minimalist way.

Your explanation of the "why" behind minimalism resonates deeply with me, and your delivery is captivating. No unnecessary embellishment here, just pure wisdom and a compelling monologue. Thank you for sharing this!

On my ‘spiritual’ path to extreme minimalism i hold on to my basic favorite rule: what i don’t own, cost no energy!
: no attention, no cleaning, no repair, no clutter, no costs, can’t be stolen, etc.
If i get in the temptation to buy something i visualize the item in my house, taking up space, dust, must clean, etc. almost directly the need and will to buy disappears :-)

Your video inspired me to get rid of more "stuff", something I'm already doing on a regular basis. It feels good not to be wasting precious time moving things around in order to keep the house clean. As a senior, letting go of things has been a slow process because I accumulated too many things over the years - even though some of them have no value other than sentimental. 😎

This speaks to my own choice of lifestyle, a sparse and comfortable space that provides rest from a very loud world. Enjoyed your recounting of special moments in natural surroundings, with family and friends. The clean shelter of indoors isn't oppressive in my own experience but rather offers balance to the recharge received from spending time in nature. Family, friends and awareness of savoring the present that is --- great priorities you hold. Thank you for a lovely video.

Well said Jean! Detaching from excess possessions cultivates space for what truly matters - human connection and presence with the world around us.

I only knew one person who lived like that, and she has some serious mental issues and eating disorder. When I see this kitchen and food it’s prepared there, it screams “tasteless “ to me.
In addition, that friend I had ended several times in psychiatric hospital and I once talked to her psychiatrist on how to help her, as a friend. She told me, in order to possess things, she would need to be thankful. And when you are thankful, you have a reason to be happy. She was right about her… and interesting… watching this video made me see the same patterns… what some people see as liberation, I see as pushing people away. Only one plate? Two added, but not for the guests but for the storage…. Daughter on another side of world but repeating mantra of loving the nature… first low of nature is instinct to survive, and part of our survival is creating strong and intimate bonds with our family members…

Thanks for your interesting comment. This extreme minimalist lifestyle was a two-week experiment while my family was away on a business trip. I usually live in a "normal" home with them. My house is minimalist but not as extreme. I do not have any eating disorder (my DNA genes are not predisposed to obesity). I really appreciate objects, but I try to choose them wisely and focus on experiences. Indeed, the food I prepared that day was not the most flavorful ;-). During those two weeks, I preferred to meet friends outside or order food delivery at home. I appreciate you sharing your experience with your friend.

i found this utterly bizarre until i realized you were borrowing a friends apartment to see how little you can get away with. like it's too big a space for one person, you cant have family or guests over for a meal, and my back aches just looking at your sleep setup. however, as a temporary reprieve to gain perspective, I think it's an interesting challenge. hopefully your refreshed mind can think of how to change your home to fit your peace of mind better when you return.
it's definitely not for me, haha. i need pictures of my family, gifts my parents got from abroad, my favorite toys, my stationary collection, my fashions... i wouldn't call myself a maximalist but i definitely would find this setup to be extremely depressing like a prison. so for me keeping clutter down is about keeping the stuff i want that enriches my life, versus living with less.

@@minicalm taking time out for perspective definitely helps. i like to go camping or hiking, or even just a walk when i need to mentally unload. listening to music in a dark room is good when i cant do that. then i can come back and feel less overwhelmed by what i need to do :)
