Jerry (Chris Sarandon from The Princess Bride and Child's Play) appears, but Peter (Roddy McDowall from Planet of the Apes) is able to lure the overconfident vampire in front of a window using a crucifix - now working due to his renewed faith -. Just before the morning sun, Jerry transforms into a bat and attacks Peter and Charley (William Ragsdale) before fleeing to his coffin in the basement.

What’s the Fright Night movie about?
Charley Brewster (William Ragsdale) is passionate about horror films. He wouldn't miss "Fright Night", a show devoted to fantasy cinema and presented by Peter Vincent, a famous vampire hunter. When Jerry Dandridge (Chris Sarandon from The Princess Bride and Child's Play) and his bodyguard move into the house next door to Charley's, they have only one piece of luggage: a coffin. Some time later, a prostitute disappears. Charley understands that his neighbours are vampires. He warns the police, who do not take him seriously. To get to know each other better, Charley's mother invites his new neighbours…

One of the best vampire movies. Chris Sarandon was great.
Just saw a recent movie with Dracula in the year 2023. It was not even 1% as good as this movie. They forgot to make Dracula look like a man and made all the victims too dumb to resolve an easy situation.
I love how they refer to each other as Mr. Vincent and Mr. Dandrige.....they’re trying to kill each other, BUT they’re still being cordial while doing it.

Especially taking in to account the fact in his movies Peter Vincent calls a vampire "Spawn of Satan".
You can’t get better than the 80s for horror movies
Some of the best films ever made was in the 80s still to this day
that because corporate investors, hadn't got tentacles into film market till the 90s after that it started go down hill, the big studios shunted or chase all independent studios out the market, or shut them down, to avoid competion.
@@scarystuff1534 yeah the 90s were last good ride, and early 2000s, then corporate investors rather than studio owners were ones made all decisions on what gets made and how, thats why, all films suck balls now.
Cause producers are ones that have the power not studios, in case you all wondering.

Roddy is so damn good in this,finding that faith in a moment that had eluded him moments before,the look of horrors of the shadow melting into confidence of the divine is top notch.
An under rated semi-masterpiece.

Brilliant movie, still holds up today. Great characters & actors portraying them. I really enjoyed the remake which featured a cameo from Chris Sarandon himself 👌
Fright Night is one of those classic horror films that has the right mix of drama, comedy and scares. Getting that balance wouldn't be easy in the writing. It's the same with An American Werewolf in London.
Saying that one needs to have faith for it to work is not smart. That confirms that faith is true and so would "make" him have faith.
Another Philosophy Major heard from. The Vampire has faith. He is on the other side, the Fallen.

I've seen the reboot and the effects may be better, but the original is still the best. David Tennant is great, but against Roddy McDowell?
One of the best vampire movies of all time. The cast, writing, story is perfect. I would not change a thing. I enjoyed the remake but the original is another level entirely.

I mean, at least we got Chris Sarandon to come back as a cameo in the 2011 Fright Night reboot movie.
This one is so much better than the remake. Perhaps I'm just partial to movies from my generation. Most of the time the remakes of the good old ones just don't measure up. The acting never seems as good, and they rely way too much on special effects.
Remember watching this with my mum and dad and ended up under the blanket hiding 😂😂😂😂😂

I would also point out the novelization goes into greater details in the story and is quite quite good...
That's true for all monsters you go up against. Don't ever go alone. Take Jesus with you everywhere. This is for all monster hunters to remember.

A few questions, maybe Tom Holland can chime in one day...
1. What is the "So" about?
2. How did they explain to the Police Evil Ed's dead naked body in Charlies House? Obviously, there is a huge hole in his chest.
3. Was Dandrige really a bad man? It seems like Charlie was the asshole in this movie, and Dandrige was just protecting his interests. Apparently, he wasn't interested in shitting where he was eating, or resting.
4. Why is Roddy so good in this movie? Absolute master
I first watched this when I was 10...it scared me to death.. Still gives me the crips
