Basically the soil is anaerobic which means lack of oxygen. Usually when you see fungal growth like that it means the soil is heavy in organic matter & lacks oxygen. biologically the soil is ideal but not so much for the plant
Thank you for this video, I just got a new fern and didnât realise it had fungus on the soil until I got home, Iâm so happy itâs not bad for my plants, I guess iâll just leave it. Easy!
I found this on my soil today !!! I was like ew yo! Scooped it out and sprayed it
Ahh thanks for this ! I was worried about my plants
I had 2 tomatillos in one pot and one of them died off so I cut at the base. Few weeks later I had a lot of fungal growth and the rest of the plants seem to be okay. Iâll wait and see, itâs outdoors and doesnât bother me
I found something similar on all my plants after repotting them and it killed all of them. Eating then from the bottom up.
I have bright orange spots on my garden soil.....looks neon in color...over nighr. Been slow rain and humid and cold this morning...wasnt there last night!
I have a rose bush inside and it has toadstool like fungi in the soil i dont know what it is or what to do?
I read to leave it alone and my calathea now has it all the way through the soul and out the bottom of the pot! I'll be reporting and hope that I can keep it alive because I did notice some of the leaves start to dry out and struggle.. I think this has started to suffocate my plant at the amount it has grown in the soil... Hoping I can repot it successfully as I am worried about the soil throughout..
ps. I noticed it a year ago and left it alone now it's just grown all the way through and blocked the drainage hole entirely so I definitely need to take care of this so my plant can drain proper.
Maja Ovnovic-Brakic he said to scoop it out if u donât like it
Can some take water from the plant ? I have succulents under grow lights and keep them quite dry . I have one that seems to be always shriveled and needing water . Pulled it out of the pot and have a yellow fungus growing on the edges of the root ball . My soil is 70% pumice and stays so dry all the time . This canât be caused by moisture. Nobody is talking about this particular fungus. I guess Iâll clean the roots and put fresh soil in . I think mine might be the kind of fungus that slowly starts taking the water and nutrients from the plant. Would peroxide kill it you think?
Maybe Iâm not expert but my dead plant will not agree with you when you said this canât kill your plants
Xiomara Martinez even if you have this fungus itâs most likely that something else killed your plant, not the fungi
Wisconsin Wonder Garden I was looking for something else but nothing else shows up is like this fungus Suffocated the roots system
Is the green fungus harmful to humans of found in soil where veggies are grown?
Any fungi that looks like little white eggs? Maybe they're white spores - I can't tell for sure.
Thank you for this info, but what about fungus gnats? They are so annoying!!! Do they harm anything? Or are they pesky like fruit flies?
Yes fungus gnats will definitely do some damage. www.planetnatural.com/pest-problem-solver/houseplant-pests/fungus-gnat-control/
Is this the same for vegetable plants?
Yes, some premium compost brands adds mushroom spores to their soils. Beware though, their are beneficial fungi and harmful fungi. I find that harmful fungi arenât mushrooms they attack the roots and are usually just in the soil, the beneficial fungi usually pop up on the surface of the soil and help breakdown the soil underneath.
More fungal dominant soil grows healthy plants more bacteria soil grows weeds like dandelions
Is it harmful to humans
Do you have any suggestions or tips that really work on fungus gnats
On the list for future videos so be sure to stick around for it :) but for now heres a link: www.planetnatural.com/pest-problem-solver/houseplant-pests/fungus-gnat-control/
What if your plant outdoor have yellow fungus its thats ok?
Pam peck yes, just adjust your care routine to help remove it if you are worried
@@ExpeditionHomestead thank you so much
I want to know if it's harmful to humans or animals. That's what I keep having issues finding.
Most of the time itâs harmless but any soil has the potential to cause harm if airborne due to so many types of bacteria and fungi. Try not to disturb the soil if it is a concern of yours đ
My potting soil bag was full of it.
Was it a Sta Green bag??? Because i bought that bag at Lowes and didn't notice it had it be ause I put the soil arpund 8.30pm and I can't see too good, I noticed the next morning! Amd no
..I am freaking out. How did it go?
@@lizgaby9761 what happen to ur plant dear? I was searching as I did the same as you. Please help.
what about fungus gnats?
After much trial and error, what worked for me was planting a clove of garlic in each of my pots .
My aloe Vera is almost dead because there is yellow fungus on it. Thanks alot.
Youâre welcome, rememberâŠ. Your plant isnât dying because of the fungus, itâs dying from over watering and likely not enough sun to go along with it which is whatâs leading to the fungus growth as a symptom.
