The rank system is terrible, especially solo queuing 3s. I don't care about my rank I care about the skill level of games I am playing in and from game to game their are just some terrible players that don't belong in the lobby
Fr. Im c2 in 2s and d2 in 3s. Like solo queuing 3s is the worst. I try to adapt to how they play but they just canât position well enough or double commit

Interested, I find 3s easiest to rank up in. Gc1 in 3s and c2/3 in 2s.
I get howâs 3s can get real hectic real quick, but Iâd highly recommend paying attention to whoâs last man. This applies to 2s as well but I find a LOT of people are too willing to rush in for a challenge/give up good position versus playing it patient/waiting for their teammate to rotate before rushing in/adding pressure/challenging.
Especially in 3s, where a lot is going on and you need a minute to see how your teammates play. But I find the majority of the time if you play a patient 3rd no matter how aggressive/terrible your teammates rotations are, you wonât get punished as much, and you will support your team better that way.
I also understand how this is not optimal for the long run, but it is so common to see overly aggressive people in 3s because the energy is high/thereâs a lot going on.
Patience is key
Bro, same I keep getting these teammates that don't belong in the lobby, and even the opponents. I notice my skill is higher than the lobby. There is no single game that my teammates are higher in skill level than me. I'm just stuck in thes e lobby's and can't do anything to rank up. đ

This is what ranking is like in every game. The MMR system is something that stems from chess. In chess however, MMR is infinite and not "categorized". There is no limit to what your rank can be. In games such as LoL, Valorant and RL where you are put into a rank and soft reset, the MMR gets inflated, as skill level goes up but the ranks are the same. Meaning, better players are pushed down and ranking up is harder. It is an inherent systemic problem with MMR-based systems.
It really needs to be fixed

I always find it interesting when people say ranked is broken bc since I hit champ in 2s, when I play consistently, I still gain rank although it is slower than when I was ranking up in Diamond but that's to be expected since it's a higher rank and in Diamond I was watching videos on what to do to rank up and what to get better at I'm currently C2 in 2s and C1 in 3s (probably gonna lose those since it's my peak and when I play with lower ranked friends) but I think people r over exaggerating.
I finally got champ in rumble but it was so hard because I saw so many champs and grand champs that ranked down so much
Literally all you gotta do is play smart, rotate well, have great shot accuracy and ball control and you will shoot up in the ranks. One day is was d1 and did a huge training routine, and when i queued into 2s I shot up to c1 in the same day.

Yep. I was D2 forever. Watched Leth do his Road to SSL and started playing patient, focused on rotating and not rushing, and got as high as C3 that week. Immediately lost it and now I float between C1 and C2 but still... big improvement.
That works for ranks under c3 but you need to focus on more than that alone to make the jump to gc-ssl
As someone who has gotten coaching from Curtis before you're gonna need some salve for that roast burn.

Sookluke im in ur free road to gc camp but whenn starts the middle course for diamonds (forgott the name of the course lol)
For me for the last couple seasons its been a very fixed matchmaking. My first game on ill get a good team mate and play against two good opponents. We have a good game then we win.
Next game ill play with someone who is way worse and the opponents get better. If i win this then hands down either the next game will be against two opponents who have doubled up together or i get an even worse opponent.
If i go on a losing streak because of this eventually it will reset that and will feel like my first game.
In this time ill go from C2 div3 to c1 div on average.

Yes its aweful i dont even play ranked anymore. Every other game i get a player that no business in the lobby we are in so i just stay at the same mmr. Its garbage. Absolutly infuriating. C1 lobbies are a nightmare.

I gotta say I'm surprised these were the mistakes that came up, the oval of boost pads doesnt get mentioned enough - on curtis tip it should be fairly obvious you should be the following the oval back to back post there - maybe more talk about how the oval can be used effectively for positioning and boost management in a future video ?

I use to get champ but all the sudden itâs trash players left right and center on my team I can barely get to d2 now
If ur not actively training everyday to get better you will be left behind and fall in rank. My suggestion to anyone below GC is to play 1s, set scenarios in free play and also try slow motion to better learn mechanics. Do this daily and I guarantee you improvement
PSA: don't pay money for coaching if you are just a kid, student or have no money. play the game just for fun.

Epic honestly needs to get rid of ssl and go completely in the ranked system. It demonizes the other ranks. Bring back copper and bring those people in diamond plat and champ back to copper itâs the only way this ranked system will be fixed.

Psyonix IS doing this on purpose. They literally said so in the Patch Notes for S11, plus on some other occasions on Reddit I think. S11 Patch Notes: "Competitive; Season reset formula has been updated to mitigate rank drift across all playlists".
Epic wants to keep people close to each others so que times stay low. I think they have lost lot of players recent seasons as they haven't given anything new for years now.
Ditch ssl create wood and copper ranks.

These are smurfs. No gold on the planet has the skill to flip reset but be so amazingly, incredibly bad at everything else that that player is still gold

The average player is getting better and better, which pushes the rank tiers up naturally. You see people doing consistent flip resets in diamond and fast aerial in bronze/silver. There are more guides and more people willing to bootcamp than before. If your skill stays the same, but everyone elses skill goes up, then you're going to have a harder time. That's how it has been for me since I've had a lot less time to play in the last few years. My skill has never deteriorated but the average player I go up against is better as a result.
So why are the diamonds missing wide open nets in my lobbies?

I think the game has been out for too damn long and all u play is the same tryhards every game and there is no answer or playstyle to rocket league because every game is different u have to get lucky if u get a good teammate or not!

just hit champ in 2s and 3s. not gonna lie it was because of luke's videos. made me adjust how i was playing.
ranking up is harder now?? no way, its almost like the higher ranks were supposed to be exclusive, got overinflated, and psyonix is correcting for their mistakes. its harder to rank up now because psyonix realized they messed up and are fixing it. the higher ranks are more exclusive, thats a good thing, why would anyone want it to be the opposite way?
yeah but the issue is. is now at lower ranks you have players that donât belong there and should be way higher and players that shouldnât be in those lobbies cuz theyâre not good enough. so it messes with the lower ranks while helping the higher ranks.
Problem is that this doesn't go down to all ranks and biggest problem is that everyone doesn't play as much what would be needed to everybody find theyr right rank. That is why we can see old gc's even in plat lobbies. That is bad, but when you add bad players like real plats or someone else that has some luck and they stay still around some rank even if this new rank push should take them lower than they are, we have so unbalanced games that only way to get to games that are balanced, you have to play so much to find enought good games where you can win. If epic would do total rank reset at this point and no resets between season, we would get things better in few seasons, but that would totally destroy anyone who is just starting out and that is bad for business.
The season rewards hehe. I know they suck but i was in c1 for two seasons and i worked hard to get there. I felt i finally made enough progress to get there. And then next season comes along and im pushed down to d2 never to see myself back in champ rank.. đ
