Jos and Michael were practically neighbours and learned karting in the wet at the same circuit. As did Max. It rains a lot overthere and the all liked driving in the wet. It became very natural to them to drive in the wet.

Marko is right, F1 was boring without Max. The circus needed someone fierce and determined to win even if he didn't have the machinery to so at the time. Thankfully all things worked out for Red Bull, Honda and Max and it has been a privilege to see you all win 3 championships in a row and absolutely demolishing the competition in 2023. Max is an incredible driver and an all time legend but the V8 era was better and Max wasn't there. 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012 were all time great seasons. Not even including the Brawn miracle in 2009 and V10 era with Schumacher.

First with father Jos, whom I had the pleasure to meet in 2001 in Belfast, Northern Ireland for a promotional lunch with Orange, the then sponsor of the Arrows F1 team, and since 2015 I have been a fan of Max Verstappen. What a joy it has been to watch all his races: the near podiums in 2015, his first win in 2016, his master class in the rain in Brasil 2016, his first pole in 2019, his win at the Dutch GP in 2021, etc. etc. and finally, that first world tittle and the 2 that followed suit. But, if that all isn't enough, I read an article recently about his test of a Ferrari GT3 car at Portimão for Emil Frey racing, in support of their driver (and son of his Max's manager) Thierry Vermeulen. When I read the comments of the team manager, I just had to smile. He said that Verstappen was outstanding, amazing, and on a different planet! He gained the greatest respect for Max and his abilities. That is perhaps that is what I like the most about Max. If he is not tied up with F1, he races on a SIM or in a different category of motorsport, and he always excels. He grabs every opportunity to learn and improve, so competition: be aware, be very aware. I think that Max will still improve and will be even harder to beat in the coming years, provided that the machinery doesn't let him down.
