- In this video I am teaching Kara overcome fear and send a HUGE 8ft kicker ramp at Twisted Oaks bike Park.
Kara's MTB progress has been incredible over the past years and for me teaching her it's been really rewarding seeing her progress to this level. We started on the basics and progressed through beginner MTB tricks, learnt how to ride corners, hills and common bike park features including jumps and in this video Kara is learning to hit the huge 8ft mulch jump kicker!
The kicker ramp is perfect for learning because the ramp feels the same in every situation and its set up like a tabletop... perfect for building confidence if you are a beginner!
We hope that you enjoy the video! :)

Kara's progress is the most motivating thing in the past 2 years 😁 So stoked for her
Kara's become such a great rider. But her expressions at 7:30 just cracked me up.
Tom should have a side gig as MTB instructor..he seems to have a very chill way of explaining whats up ...Kara improving at an exponential rate...great content...watching your videos is the best way to get though a day at work.....cheers 🇨🇦
Such a difference from Kara during lockdown using the little hopper ramp to these big jumps, better than me any day
cool
🤟🤟
Amazing progression. Kara was looking so much looser on her warm up runs, and did both the kicker ramps perfectly.
Next up - back flips!
This is wholesome and good vibes. Well done Kara.
Great video Tom you are a fantastic teacher I’m so impressed with Kara how she has come along with a very short time. I would recommend you to any one
I hope you guys get over your illness soon. Looks like Kara is ramping up faster and faster these days. I still remember when she first started out on those tiny little drop offs. lol
That was so cool. Kara looked epic going over that table top. She hit those kickers so smoothly. Tom is having a ball too because he has Kara getting better and that makes his rides more fun too as he can now carry more speed riding the trails with her. Awesome stuff.
Love seeing karas progress 🙌
Wow!
🤟🤟
This brought a big smile 😊
Yesssssss 🤘🏻 A bit of Tom and cardz action b4 I go to work ! Sick vid and sick progress keep up the top work you 2 🤘🏻
Holy man, Kara! How amazing! Ive commented before how much I wish I could still do this as a female at 40! My dream was to be able to have someone teach me this in my “younger” years. It’s been a pleasure watching you progress and ive lived vicariously through you while I watch it. However, I still WANT to be able to progress like this at my age! Incredible stuff! Way to go!
No reason you can't improve at 40, so long as you don't have medical problems that won't allow it. Do like Kara, always looking at progression, stay within comfort while pushing your own upper limits. Just remember, over 40, healing is slower. If you happen to marry a champion dirt jumper to coach you, that would also help. 😂😂
@@coachcurt7606 haha having a dirt jumping champion partner would surely help! I just meant I was never really taught at a younger age when I was really into biking how to hit any bigger jumps or kickers. To me now it would seem wild to start learning because of the healing at 40 lol! In my brain I still want to learn but I think my body would tell me to fuck right off lol
You're far from over the hill...I took this up at 48 and am loving it even if I am a bit more cautious than younger me would have been 😆
@@cmouse_2 that’s great!
cara is becoming a really good rider and when I was riding and speaking to u last a bit ago she has made so much proggress tell her to keep it up
Thanks dude! 🤟
Great stuff from the pair of you. Toms motivational techniques need to be bottled and distributed! Kara has progressed so much under Toms tutelage that her ability and confidence have grown massively. If only I could say the same for myself 🤪
That's great guys!
Nice work karas
Nice one kara
I love how fears vary so much .....I have no trouble with those kickers but still have massive issues with the gaps on the traps 😁 I think the middle 8ft ramp is a smoother ride than the smaller one.
nice video! really helpful insight for a learner, thanks
Well done! I rode the 6ft one last weekend, was weird coming face to face with it as I’m not used to hitting such big jumps either - but like you found out it was way less scary than a lot of the gap jumps they have there!
Well done Kara!! Keep it up!
Brilliant!
Sick thank you this has helped me too
Awesome! 🤟
@@TomCardy hi just letting you know that you have someone pretending to be you I think as I have had a thing where I was told to contact a number and there will be a special surprise before I did as I didn’t want to be scammed I checked it was actually you and it wasn’t you so I haven’t contacted the number
Carrrrdyyyyyy🤙
Well done KJ🤘🏻

How does she do it I’ve been riding mtb 4 years now and I just can’t do jumps I feel like I’m gonna buck as soon as I hit it I’ve asked people but no one seems to want to help it seems everybody just wants to see you crash . I guess at 50 I’ll never learn it
Its never to late you will ...
I'm 64 and it's a lot harder to learn to jump start small and work your way up slowly
You can do it, I started last summer at age 48. Built a couple ramps to practice on. I find that it is mostly intuitive to be honest, and too much "teaching" can actually cause you to overthink instead of going with the flow. Start with a 12 inch high slope and go from there. I literally just put a 2x10 that was about 3 ft long on a railroad tie and started with that, on grass of course.
