price=[the most the market will entertain]*[the ability to hock body parts (yours or others)]+[a yet undetermined capacity for human financial misery]/[chance of being called out as a monopoly by a regulator]*100.

$1999 is probably the most likely! I really hope that we'll actually be able to get the card for MSRP reasonably.😅

dont say memory doesnt needed in games because path traycing will squeeze out memory in games like cyberpunk

This is exactly what I thought too. I completely agree with what you are saying!!!😁 When a saw that article I thought they probably didn't understand what was actually happening.

Bigger monolithic dies don't make sense for yield maximization. You end up trashing too much silicon for it to be profitable enough. with MCMs, you're only trashing and replacing part of a bad core instead of trashing the whole core.

RTX 5000 series has to be more power efficient than 4000 series. Currently I’m on 3000 series, perhaps skipping the 4000 series altogether, and hoping to get a 5060 or 5070 if the power consumptions are better than 3070. And most importantly nVIDIA should switch to 256-bit bus width and minimum 12GB VRAM for the mid-ranged cards.

5090 2-slot is only a reflection of the fact there will be no 5080/90 AMD competition. There is zero reason to ramp up wattage if you're only competing with your self...though that won't stop them raping your wallet by ramping up prices ;) Of course, this is Founder cards. Expect different from partners.
2025/26 RDNA5 will be different - only IF(!!) AMD manages to get a proper chiplet GPU solution. AMD cannot compete with Nvidia without full chiplet design i.e. GPU + GPU-GPU interconnect. The full GPU-GPU interconnect is the hard bit - compared to an 8/16 core CPU chiplet.

not interested in nvidia at all. their prices and that shoddy connector is a no go in my book. not for 1600+ USD. 7900 XTX or whatever amd brings will be fine. I like my gtx 1080ti and im not that excited to replace it with any of these newer cards. not like I was going from 660 SLI to my 1080ti. buying a GPU feels more and more like a business transaction instead of something I do to enjoy my hobby. if INel had ANY VR support id look their way but I do too much VR to not have it supported

I agree, it's hard to justify these prices for gaming. But for business needs it's worth the price. If you are into content creation or 3D animation AI work, Nvidia is your only option
